Il corso sarà incentrato sulle applicazioni pratiche della statistica. Ogni partecipante avrà a disposizione una postazione multimediale personale per la parte pratica. Quattro giorni di lezioni, dimostrazioni e pratica al computer. Destinatari Il corso è rivolto a laureati, dottorandi, dottorati, post-dottorati e ricercatori nel campo delle Scienze della Terra, delle Scienze della Vita, delle Scienze Naturali ed Ambientali che desiderano aggiornare e approfondire la loro conoscenza relativa ai metodi statistici e alle loro applicazioni pratiche. The course will be more application oriented than theory intensive. Demonstrations and practical computer based exercises using real published or participants own data sets. The course will focus on practical applications of statistics. A multimedia workstation will be provided for practical applications to participants. Receivers A four-days course aimed at graduate, post-graduate, and PhD students, and researchers in Earth-, Life-, Natural-, and Environmental Sciences wishing to develop a solid understanding of statistical methods as research tool. The form can be downloaded from the web-site of the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo ( and the Gruppo NOSE of the Università degli Studi di Urbino Carlo Bo ( The fully-compiled form has to be sent by fax or e- mail, strictly by March the 1 st Participation fee. The participation fee is 80,00, including access to the course, coffee breaks, lesson notes and a selection of Open Source software. The following page presents a list of hotels in which participants can book a room directly. - Travel to Urbino. By plane: The nearest airports are: Ancona (85 km), Rimini (70 km) and Bologna (150 km). From these destinations you must take the train to Pesaro. By sea: ferry service to the port of Ancona, followed by bus or car journey. By train: Once you arrive at Pesaro railway station you should take the bus to Urbino (the bus stop is immediately in front of the station). Urbino is connected by an hourly bus service, first departure is at 6.45 AM and last departure at 8.05 p.m. On Sundays and Public holidays bus services are limited. The complete bus schedule is available at the following web address: If you arrive in Pesaro after 8.05 p.m. you can either reach Urbino by taxi (40 minute driving with an approximate cost of 45,00 Euro) or take another bus connected with Urbino via Fano last departure at 10.0 PM arrival in Urbino around midnight, due to its late arrival this option is not recommended. From Rome: There is a bus service which departs directly from Rome Tiburtina Railway Station: Morning departure 7.0 a.m. arrival Urbino 12.0 a.m. Afternoon departure 4.00 a.m. arrival Urbino 8.15 p.m. The service is not available on Sundays or Public Holidays. - International Advanced Course in Applied Statistics Location. The International Advanced Course in Applied Statistics will be held at the Aula Magna of the Campus Scientifico of the Università degli Studi di Urbino, located about 5 km far from the historical Old Town ( During the three days of technical sessions, the Cafeteria of the Campus will be reserved for your coffee and lunch breaks.
