There are more apples than pears. di maggioranza Pete speaks more clearly than Alan. John has more rice than me. Comparativo Tina is as tall as Sue. There are as many apples as pears. di uguaglianza Pete speaks as clearly as Alan. John has as much rice as me. Comparativo Tina isn t as/so tall as Sue. There aren t as/so many apples as di uguaglianza Pete doesn t speak as/so clearly as pears. negativo Alan. John doesn t have as/so much rice as me. Comparativo Tina is less tall than Sue. There are fewer apples than pears. di minoranza Pete speaks less clearly than Alan. John has less rice than me. Spesso invece del comparativo di minoranza si preferisce usare un verbo alla forma negativa con il comparativo di uguaglianza. Tina is not as tall as Sue. Superlativo Tina is the tallest in her class. Sara has the most apples. di maggioranza Pete speaks the most clearly. John has the most rice. Superlativo Tina is the least tall in her class. Sara has the fewest apples. di minoranza Pete speaks the least clearly. John has the least rice. Con alcuni aggettivi e avverbi il superlativo di minoranza è poco usato. Si preferisce usare un aggettivo/avverbio di significato opposto e il superlativo di maggioranza. Tina is the shortest in her class. 132
