1 Dear IS Modena families, Newsletter n 25 - March Another engaging week ahead of us as our Grade 10/11 students & Ms. Forti prepare to attend the GIN (Global Issues Network) in IS Milan ( and our Grade 6 students start their journey into the PYP Exhibition. Unfortunately Ms. Thomson s injury is taking longer to heal than expected and she will be on medical leave all week therefore Ms. Payne will be leading our Grade 6 students into the preparation for their Exhibition together with the support of their mentors. While Ms. Valentine will be attending the Early Years ECIS conference on Thursday & Friday not only as a simple participant but also as one of the speakers and Ms. Alessandra Melia together with our team of Teaching Assistants will take care of our Transition class. Security: Thank you parents! You are doing a great job in communicating changes to pick-up keep it up! Make sure you inform the school office by 2 pm if your child(ren) is not taking the bus or is going home with another parent. Children will not be allowed off school grounds if the office hasn t received permission via mail, telephone, school diary or in person. Please make sure this protocol is observed especially when organising birthday parties. Pick-up: Thank you to all the parents who set an example every day by waiting patiently for their chid(ren) in the Auditorium or outside. As the school grows in numbers, parents need to make their effort in observing the few rules set by the school. Among these, please remember to leave the school entrance clear during pick-up at 3 pm. Parents from Grades 1 to 11 wait for their children in the Auditorium or outside. The entrance area is reserved to Kindergarten and Transition parents. Please keep on reading to avoid missing out on important information to help you make the most of learning and life at IS Modena! 2 Gentili Famiglie IS Modena, Un altra impegnativa settimana ci attende mentre I nostri studenti di Grade 10/11 e Ms Forti si preparano a partecipare al GIN (Global Issues Network) all IS Milan ( e i nostri studenti di Grade 6 iniziano il loro viaggio verso la Mostra PYP. Sfortunatamente l infortunio di Ms. Thomson sta richiedendo più tempo del previsto per la guarigione e sarà in malattia per tutta questa settimana quindi Ms Payne seguirà gli studenti di Grade 6 nella preparazione per la loro Mostra unitamente al supporto dei mentori. Mentre Ms. Valentine parteciperà alla conferenza ECIS sulla Prima Infanzia giovedì e venerdì non solo come partecipante ma come relatrice, Ms Alessandra Melia si prenderà cura insieme al nostro Team di Assistenti della classe di Transition. Sicurezza: Grazie Genitori! State facendo un ottimo lavoro nel comunicare i cambiamenti nel ritiro degli studenti continuate così! Fate in modo di informare la segreteria entro le 14:00 se Vostro figlio non prende il bus o se va a casa con qualche altro genitore. I bambini non sono autorizzati ad uscire da scuola se la segreteria non ha ricevuto l autorizzazione via mail, telefono, diario scolastico o di persona. Per favore assicuratevi che questa procedura sia osservata specialmente in caso di feste di compleanno. Ritiro: Grazie a tutti i genitori che tutti i giorni danno l esempio aspettando pazientemente i loro bambini in Auditorium o all esterno. La scuola sta crescendo, i genitori devono sforzarsi di rispettare le poche regole fissate dalla scuola. Tra queste, per favore ricordate di lasciare l ingresso della scuola libero durante il ritiro alle 15:00. I genitori da Grades 1 a 11 aspettano gli studenti nell Auditorium oppure all esterno. L ingresso è riservato ai genitori di Kindergarten e Transition. 3 NEWS International School of Modena Yearbook 2015 This year Miss Payne will again be coordinating the school yearbook, which is a fantastic record and reminder of the year at IS Modena. She is looking for students interested in working on this publication with her. The club is open to students of Grade 3 and upwards. They must be able to use Publisher and know how to insert text and pictures into documents. The club will meet after school on Thursdays from to and possibly some lunch times as the deadline approaches, starting this Thursday, March 19th. The club will run up to and including Thursday, May 21st. If your child would like to work on the yearbook or you have any questions regarding this please contact Miss Payne (jpayne@internationalschoolofmodena.it) and send her written confirmation of your child's participation in the club. Yearbook 2015 International School of Modena Anche quest anno Miss Payne coordinerà l annuario scolastico, che è un fantastico ricordo e promemoria dell anno all IS Modena. Sta cercando studenti interessati a lavorare su questa pubblicazione insieme a lei. Il club è aperto agli studenti da Grade 3 in poi. 7 ENROLMENTS 2015/2016 ISCRIZIONI 2015/2016 ENROLMENTS 2015/2016 DEADLINE 20/03/2015 We kindly remind you that to confirm your child(ren) s enrolment for the school year 2015/2016, you need to fill in the personal data form and return it to the school office at your earliest convenience in order for the schoo office to prepare your contract. If you haven t received it, please ask the school office. The deadline for enrolments is March 20 th If you don t sign the enrolment contract and arrange for the deposit payment by that date, the late renewal fee applies and a place for your child(ren) might not be granted. If you need a fee breakdown, please send a request via to the school office. 10 REMINDERS PLEASE ENSURE ALL ITEMS ARE LABELLED WITH YOUR CHILD S NAME Except for the very young children, we expect the students to keep track of their own belongings. Please discuss this with them. If your child arrives home with clothing or something else that belongs to another student, please return it to school the next day. A lost property (Lost & Found Box) is located in the storage room near the Auditorium, feel free to check it for missing items and please keep it tidy. PARKING AREA All parents must use the public parking area outside the school gate at all times. Please remember to lock your cars and please make sure you don t leave any personal belongings in the car. Internal parking area is reserved for staff only and the bus service. PARCHEGGIO ESTERNO Tutti i genitori devono utilizzare sempre il parcheggio all esterno del cancello. Ricordatevi di chiudere le portiere dell auto e non lasciate borse e borsette in macchina.
