CORSO BASE DI INGLESE Lezione 10 Docente: Dott.ssa Sara Livio

Passato semplice: verbo essere Passato semplice verbo essere (past simple of to be)

Passato semplice: verbo essere Il passato semplice di «to be» traduce il passato remoto e l imperfetto italiani (sebbene, nella traduzione, si tenda sempre a rendere col passato prossimo, in quanto più usato); è generalmente accompagnato da complementi di tempo passato come: «yesterday» (ieri), «last week» (la scorsa settimana), «two months ago» (due mesi fa) Esempi: - I was in Rome yesterday. = Fui/ero/sono stato a Roma ieri. - Were you at the seaside last month? A: Was Mary at school yesterday? = Mary era a scuola ieri? B: Yes, she was/no, she wasn t. = Si/No.

Passato semplice: verbo avere Passato semplice verbo avere (past simple of to have)

Esempi: - I had got a flu. = Ho avuto la febbre. - Had you got a flu? = Hai avuto la febbre? - Hadn t you got a flu? B: Yes, I had/no, I hadn t. = Si/No.

Passato semplice: verbi regolari Altri esempi: - To open = opened: aprire = aperto. - To phone = phoned: chiamare =chiamato. - To order = ordered: ordinare = ordinate. - To stop = stopped: fermare = fermato. - To prefer = preferred: preferire = preferito. - To travel = travelled: viaggiare = viaggiato. - To study = studied: studiare = studiato.

- I have studied. = Ho studiato.

Passato semplice: forma interrogativa e negativa Passato semplice: forma interrogativa, negativa e interrogativo-negativa (past simple: interrogative, negative and negative-interrogative forms) Come per il presente semplice dei verbi regolari e irregolari (tranne «to be», «have got» e i modali) si usa l ausiliare «do/does» per le forme interrogative, negative e negativo-interrogative, così per il passato semplice si usa «did» (invariato per tutte le persone) seguita dall infinito del verbo senza «to».

Passato semplice: forma interrogativa e negativa Esempi: - Do you live in Milan? = Did you live in Milan?: Vivi a Milano? = Hai vissuto/vivesti/vivevi a Milano? - I don t live in Milan. = I didn t live in Milan.: Io non vivo a Milano. = Io non vivevo/vissi/non ho vissuto a Milano. - Don t you live in Milan? = Didn t you live in Milan?: Non vivi a Milano?

Esempio: - To sell = selling: vendere = vendendo. - To read = reading: leggere = leggendo. - To have = having. - To take = taking: prendere = prendendo. - To run = running: correre = correndo. - To stop = stopping: fermare = fermando.

- To prefer = preferring: preferire = preferendo. - To travel = travelling. - To study = studying. - To buy = buying: comprare = comprando.

Presente continuo Presente continuo (Present continuous) Il presente continuo è formato da: PRESENTE DI TO BE + FORMA IN ING

Presente continuo Esempio: A: What s Mike doing? = Che sta facendo Mike? B: He s reading. = Sta leggendo. Le risposte brevi del presente continuo si costruiscono con «to be». A: Are you studying? B: Yes, I am/no, I m not. - Now I m studying. = Ora sto studiando. - At the moment I m reading. What are you doing next weekend? I m going to the seaside.

- To run = correre. - To eat = mangiare. - To understand = capire. - To remember = ricordare. - To know = conoscere. b) Con verbi di volontà. - To want = volere. - To wish = desiderare. c) Con i verbi di possesso. - To own = possedere. - To have got = avere/possedere.

- To see = vedere. - To hear = sentire. - To taste = assaggiare. Questi ultimi sono spesso accompagnati da «can». - Can you hear me? = Mi senti? - Can you see me? = Mi vedi?

Vocabulary VOCABOLI UTILIZZATI NELLA LEZIONE FLU = febbre TO TRAVEL= viaggiare TO SELL = vendere TO EAT = mangiare TO RUN = correre TO COMPEL = forzare/costringere TO SEE = vedere TO HEAR = sentire TO UNDERSTAND = capire/comprendere
