1 6. frameworks for making flowers Impianti per fiori What you need: * nails without heads, 1.5 mm in diameter * a hammer * a small flat smooth piece of wood, 2 cm thick for the framework. * plated silver and gold, copper, or brass wire diameter: 1 mm. * sandpaper n 00 to smooth the surface of the wooden base before varnishing it with wood varnish. * wood varnish and * red varnish for the stand * rectangular plywood of 7 x 4 cm 6-7 mm thick * transparent glue * chiodi del diametro di mm. 1,5 senza testa e un martello * tavola di legno dello spessore di cm. 2 per l impianto * fili di rame o ferro argentato, dolorato o nichelato del diametro di mm. 1 * carta vetrata n 00 per rendere liscio il legno della base prima di verniciarlo con il turapori * vernice turapori e * smalto rosso per la base * tavolette di compensati di cm. 7 x 4 dello spessore di mm. 6 o 7 * adesivo trasparenti 1

2 Varnish and paint the small stand which holds the flowers. Prepara verniciate le tavolette di supporto dei fiori. Make the flowers with wire and, if the wire isn t already plated silver, varnish it with normal varnish. Confeziona il fiore con i fili e se non è gia argentato, vernicialo con la vernice normale. Glue the flowers onto the small stand only after the first two stages have been completed. Violets and carnations In order to make the violet, wind the nails 5 times around the framework of 4 nails and, before opening the petals, twist the wire to shape the calyx: fig. 1. See the flower on the right of the photo. If you want a carnation, wind the wire 9 times around the framework of 3 nails and then twist the wire to make the calyx. Shape the leaves straight after making the calyx. Use the round and square pliers to help you do this. Viola e garofano Per ottenere la viola avvolgere i chiodi 5 volte sull impianto a 4 chiodi e, prima di aprire i petali,attorciglia il filo per formare il calice: fig. 1. Vedi il fiore a destra della foto. Per ottenere il garofano avvolgi il filo 9 volte sull impianto a 3 chiodi e poi avvolgi il filo per formare il calice. Modella le foglie subito dopo aver creato il calice e ti aiuti con le pinze tutto tondo e quadrata. 2

3 o Flower or leaf coil Use the round pliers and start by winding from its thinnest point. Flower with 7 petals: you can make this flower with a circle of 3 cm diameter divided into 8 parts, fig. 1, starting from the stem. On the right hand side of the page you can see the bases for making violets and carnations. Fiore o foglia a spirale Per ottenerla usa la pinza tutto tondo partendo dalla parte più stretta. Fiore a 7 petali: questo fiore l ottieni con un cerchio del diametro di cm. 3 diviso in 8 parti: fig. 1 iniziandolo dal gambo. Sul lato destro della pagina vedi i due impianti dei chiodi per creare le viole e i garofani. 3

4 Edelweiss a) Wind the wire around each nail: see photo. b) Make the nail base with 3 circles, each one bigger than the other, nailing 12 nails altogether around their edges: For the 1 st circle, or heart: 6 nails For the 2nd circle and 3 rd circles: 6 nails alternately. Stella alpina a) Il filo lo avvolgi sui chiodi un petalo per volta: osserva la foto. b) L impianto dei chiodi per la stella alpina, lo crei con 3 cerchi, uno più grande dell altro, piantando sul loro perimetro 12 chiodi: sul 1 cerchio o cuore, 6 chiodi sulla 2 circonferenza e 6 sulla terza in modo alternato. 4

5 Daisy and wild carnation the daisy is a coil which you make by winding the wire around a felt-pen and then finish by inserting the wire into the first ring. Make its centre by shaping a small coil with the round pliers. The framework for the carnation is the same as the previous one but a little smaller. Margherita e garofano di montagna la margherita è una spirale che ottieni avvolgendo il filo su un pennarello e poi la chiudi entrando con il filo nel cerchietto d inizio. Il suo cuore lo crei con una spirale più piccola modellata con la pinza tutto tondo. L impianto chiodi del garofano è identico al precedente a forma di rombo ma più piccolo. Ikebana flowers Fix the flowers onto pieces of wire that can bought from a florist s shop and push them into the vinyl paste or other readymade doughs such as Das.
