1 OBIETTIVI DELLA CONFERENZA La conferenza ICE (Conferenza Internazionale su Ingegneria, tecnologia ed innovazione), nata come Conferenza Internazionale sul Concurrent Engineering e dal 2010 con il sostegno dell IEEE, riunisce ogni anno eminenti accademici, ricercatori, professionisti e decisori politici, contribuendo ad un dibattito globale su ingegneria, tecnologia ed innovazione attraverso idee originali, documenti, iniziative e progetti. La 20 edizione di ICE si terrà dal 23 al 25 Giugno 2014 a Bergamo ed è intitolata "Innovazione Responsabile dell Ingegneria nei Prodotti e Servizi": essa sarà un occasione per confrontare esperienze e competenze in ottica di sviluppo collaborativo e di ingegneria per un innovazione più sostenibile e responsabile. In particolare il percorso Lean Product Development ( ) proposto nella 2 giornata intende presentare esperienze e stimoli per l applicazione dell approccio Lean nello sviluppo dei prodotti. CONFERENCE AIMS The ICE conference (International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation), born as the International Conference on Concurrent Engineering and since 2010 supported by IEEE, meets every year leading academics, researchers, practitioners and policy makers, contributing to a global debate on engineering, technology and innovation through original ideas, papers, projects and initiatives. The 20th edition of the ICE will be held from June 23 rd to 25 rd,2014 in Bergamo and is entitled "Engineering Responsible Innovation in Products and Services": it will be an opportunity to compare experiences and skills from the perspective of collaborative development and engineering for a more sustainable and responsible innovation. In this context, authors, workshop / tutorial organizers and participants are invited to contribute to the shaping of the debate on engineering the responsible innovation of the next decades. 3 Nicole Dewandre Until January 31st 2004, Nicole Dewandre was Head of the Women and Science Unit in the Directorate General for Research. She studied physics, engineering and economics at the University of Louvain, operations research at the University of California (Berkeley) and philosophy at the Free University of Brussels (ULB). She entered the European Commission in 1983, working as a scientific officer in the Directorate General for Research, in the field of strategic issues for technology policy, linking societal concerns with technology policy until She became a member of the Central Advisory Group and then the Forward Study Unit, dealing with strategic analysis of research and industrial policy for the President of the Commission ( ). In 1993, she supported the Belgian Presidency of the European Union in the areas of industry, energy, and consumer councils. Following this, she worked as a principal administrator in social sciences research in the DirectorateGeneral for Research. From 1997 onwards, she has been developing the Women and Science activities in DG Research. Since February 1st, she has changed unit and is now Head of the «Scientific advice and governance» Unit, in DG Research. Debasish (Deba) Dutta Debasish (Deba) Dutta is Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate College (University of Illinois) and Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering and a Professor of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering. He has extensive experience in higher education and policy making He is a ScholarinResidence at the National Academy of Engineering, where he recently completed a study on the lifelong learning needs of U.S. engineering professionals and currently leads an NSF funded national study about education for innovation. During he served at the National Science Foundation as Acting Director of the Division of Graduate Education, IGERT Program Director and as Advisor in the Office of Assistant Director, Education and Human Resources. He played a key role in the development of NSF s Cyberinfrastructure Strategy (Vision for 21st Century Discovery) chairing its Learning and Workforce Development subcommittee. He was a selected to be a member of the Illinois team in the 2010 Education Leaders Institute of the National Endowment for the Arts. Dutta received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1989, and was on the faculty at the University of Michigan from He has published extensively in the area of computer aided design and manufacturing, and currently focuses on interoperability issues in product lifecycle management. He has served on the GRE and TOEFL Boards (both of ETS) and currently is on the Board of Illinois Consortium for 21st Century Schools, a 501c(3) for K12 education. He serves on the Illinois Arts Education Advisory Committee and on the National Advisory Committee of the Council of Graduate Schools and TIAA/CREF project on Financial Education. He also serves on the editorial boards of several journals. A Fellow of AAAS and ASME, he has received several awards, cofounded the IFIP International PLM Conference and has been the William Mong Scholar at the University of Hong Kong and a Guest Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. He is a member of ASEE and SME.
