Responsibilities include taking care of both in- and outpatients as well as participation in teaching health professionals. Working on shifts is required. The consultant is accountable to the Director of the Department of Internal Medicine. The Medical Department is the regional centre of the North and East of Iceland. The Department is well equipped. There is close connection with the Radiology and Pathology Departments. Closing date for application is the 1st of December 2010 and the position is available from the 15th of December 2010 or at another negotiable date. Ability to understand, speak and write English is necessary and willingness to learn Icelandic. If so, you may well be one of the new colleagues we are seeking. As a medical specialist, you will be working with the consultant, visiting and treating hospitalized patients as well as patients linked to our district psychiatry programme. During the day, you will be part of the forensic psychiatric department in Middelfart, and you will be working as an attending physician in a 5-shift on call system from your residence. About us: The Department of Psychiatry in Middelfart comprises two general psychiatry wards, one gerontopsychiatric ward and a forensic psychiatry ward 60 beds in all. We also operate a day-care ward, a district psychiatry function and an outpatients department. At present, the staff of the department comprises 12 consultants and 14 junior doctors. The working environment is informal, with high emphasis on professionalism and a close working relationship between the professional disciplines. Our medical specialists are highly skilled in fields such as gerontopsychiatry, forensic psychiatry and psychotherapy. Four of our consultants are approved counselors in psychotherapy. The department: Places emphasis on education through daily conferences, weekly doctors meetings and Wednesday teaching sessions. Participates in the training of medical students. Grants time off with pay for relevant courses. The Department of Psychiatry in Middelfart is housed in modern, well-furnished and well-run buildings, close to both motorway and rail connections. Your qualifications: Specialist psychiatrist. Broad psychiatric experience and, ideally, experience with forensic psychiatry. Team player/good social skills. Flair for foreign languages. The authority will issue a Danish authorisation if it does. Supplements to basic pay: Basic pay for consultants is DKK 682,192/ 90,960 p.a. Function-related pay Consultants not on a formal duty roster qualify for a pension-linked supplement of DKK /eur p.a. In addition, function-related pay is paid for special functions as long as they are performed. Qualification-related pay A qualificationrelated supplement is payable based on your individual qualifications. Function- and qualification-related supplements must be agreed with your place of employment and Foreningen af Speciallæger. Pension scheme: You will be covered by the employer s pension scheme from the first day of your employment. Employer will pay a contribution of 17.5% of your monthly pay every month to the Lægernes Pensionskasse. What pension scheme covers: Your entitlement to old age pension.
