La storia di Giuseppe Olmo, soprannominato Gepin, è quella di un uomo vincente, nella veste di sportivo e in seguito di affermato imprenditore. Inizia a brillare nel 1931 quando con la squadra azzurra dilettanti ai mondiali in Danimarca, riesce a piazzarsi al secondo posto nella gara in linea. La conferma della sua classe si ha l anno successivo alle Olimpiadi di Los Angeles, dove si aggiudica la medaglia d oro nella cronometro a squadre, classificandosi inoltre quarto nella prova individuale e nel 33, al suo primo Giro d Italia, quando ottiene due prestigiose vittorie di tappa. Nella sua luminosa carriera ha ottenuto grandi imprese: due affermazioni alla Milano-Sanremo nel 35 e 38, il record dell ora sempre nel 35, le complessive venti vittorie di tappa al Giro d Italia e la conquista dei campionati su strada del 36 e su pista del 40. Al termine dell attività agonistica, Gepin decide di mettere a frutto la propria esperienza di atleta: nel 1939 nasce a Celle Ligure la Olmo Cicli, azienda produttrice di biciclette, guidata con entusiasmo e passione dal corridore ligure e i suoi tre fratelli, Franco, Giovanni e Michele. Ieri come oggi, il filo conduttore di tutte le attività della famiglia Olmo è l attenzione per il dettaglio: la passione incontra la qualità totale di un Brand ricco di tradizione e di successi sportivi. The story of Giuseppe Olmo, better known as Gepin, is that of a winner, both as a sportsman and later on as a businessman. He first showed his worth in 1931 when called up for the world cup in Denmark as part of the Italian azzurri amateur team. He managed a second place in the road race. Confirmation of Gepin s class came the following year in the Los Angeles Olympics, where he took gold in the time team races and came fourth in the singles, and took part in his first Giro d Italia in 1933 where he won two prestigious stages. Among others the following successes should be remembered, is two great victories at the Milan- Sanremo races in 1935 and 1938, the one-hour record and the twenty overall stage wins in the Giro d Italia, his win of the road race championship in 1936 and the track championship in 1940. At the close of his cycling career Gepin decided to set himself new objectives that could put his experience as an athlete to good use: and that is how Olmo Cycles came to be born in Celle Ligure in 1939. True to character, showing determination and passion from the very beginning, the Ligurian cyclist, along with his three brothers Franco, Giovanni and Michele, set about their business, the production of quality bicycles. Today, as always, the driving force behind all the businesses of the Olmo family is care for the product and attention to detail.
