Currently, Vitorio Silano is chairman of the EFSA CEF Panel competent for the evaluation o flavorings, food contact material, enzymes and recycled plastics. 2.1.1 Between July 2012 an June 2014, Vittorio Silano has been member of the Contaminant Panel of the European Food Safety Authority 2.1.2 Between July 2003 and June 2012, Vittorio Silano has been Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the European Food Safety Authority 2.1.3 In 2006, Vittorio Silano has been appointed as Chairman of the European Centre for Diseases Control (ECDC) Panel on Influenza 2.1.4 Between 1998 and 2007, Vittorio Silano has represented Italy in the High Level Committee on Public Health and between 1999-2002 he has chaired the Working Group on Pharmaceuticals and Public Health of the High Level on Public Health 2.1.5 Between 1997 and 2003, Vittorio Silano has been vicechairman of the European Commission (D.G. 2.2 World Health Organization 2.2.1 In 2011, Vittorio Silano chaired a small expert group requested by WHO/EURO to carry out the review of the WHO geographically dispersed offices 2.2.2 Between June 1991 and April 1992, Vittorio Silano was the Director of the Rome Division of the WHO European Centre on Environment and Health 2.2.3 In 1990 and 1991, Vittorio Silano has served as a member of the WHO/HQ World Commission on Health and Environment that has produced the report entitled Our planet, our health 2.2.4 Vittorio Silano has acted as consultant in a number of UNEP and WHO Expert Groups including JECFA (Food Additives and Contaminants) and JMPR (Pesticides) and has served as a WHO/EURO assessor in case of chemical disasters and as member of the Programme Advisory Committee of the IPCS (International Programme on Chemical Safety) 2.2.5 In 1982, Vittorio Silano worked for six months as consultant in toxicology for WHO/EURO and he has also been consultant to WHO/EUREO on Geographycally- Dispersed Offices SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION AND EDITORIAL ACTIVITY The scientific production of Vittorio Silano consists of more than 260 papers, mostly published in international journals, and books (see the attached list of publications).
