I supporti a rullo sono elementi di appoggio per tubazioni che consentono lo scorrimento del tubo su di essi posizionato; sono progettati per supportare tubazioni pesanti per il passaggio di fluidi a varie temperature. L escursione termica, dovuta alla variazione di temperatura sia dell ambiente che del fluido di passaggio, provoca la dilatazione della tubazione e conseguentemente attrito su ogni punto d appoggio della stessa. I supporti a rullo hanno la funzione di ridurre tali attriti, ma sono anche, a seconda della tipologia, adatti a contrastare la spinta laterale del vento. Per evitare i suddetti inconvenienti è consigliata l installazione dei supporti con distanze tra loro ridotte e con l applicazione di opportuni rinforzi in corrispondenza dei punti di appoggio. Nei casi in cui si abbiano tubazioni coibentate è necessario l impiego di apposite selle, le quali hanno la funzione di evitare il contatto tra rullo e materiale isolante tenendo la tubazione rialzata.
