In January 2005 she won the National Competition for Associate Professor (Concorso per Professore Associato) and was appointed to Verona University. Academic Expertise and Research Areas Her main research areas are in the field Modernism, Postmodernism and Victorian Studies with a particular emphasis on Aesthetics and Literature (strategies of literary representation and aesthetic legitimisation: beauty, enframing, mimesis, reality effects); Visual Culture and Visual Rhetoric (painting, sculpture, architecture, garden landscape, cinema, photography and design); Aesthetics and cultural regionalisms (revisions of the classical ideas of beauty); Charles Darwin s Legacies in Literature; Body Politics and Policies, Identity Politics and Policies (human rights, body aesthetics, self-fashioning aesthetics, ethnicity, sex and gender, social class and age discriminations); Material Culture, Cultural Studies, Interrelation of Bodies and Technology; Law and Literature, Bioethics and Literature, Eco-criticism. Cultural Studies are a constant area of reference for her research. Since 2000 she has always been a Member and a Tutor of the various Doctoral Schools of the Foreign Languages Faculty at Verona University and she has been the supervisor of various Doctoral Students.
