SOUNDSCREEN FILM FESTIVAL 2017 1 st - 9 th APRIL 2017 REGULATIONS / REGOLAMENTO ENGLISH VERSION 1. INTRODUCTION, AIMS AND PURPOSES The SOUNDSCREEN Film Festival is a FILM festival dealing with films that have MUSIC as protagonist in its broadest meaning, belonging to all genres (features, documentaries, musicals, biopics, animations, etc.) and will promote the Competition for feature films, retrospectives and various related events. 2. PROMOTING AGENCIES Soundscreen is organised by the Cultural Association Ravenna Cinema in partnership with the Municipality of Ravenna, Department of Culture; with the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Fondazione del Monte of Bologna and Ravenna. 3. VENUE LOCATION AND DATES The Festival shall be held in Ravenna, Italy, from 1 st to 9 th April 2017. The Location is the Palazzo del Cinema, Largo Firenze 1, 48121 Ravenna. SECTIONS The Festival will be divided in the following sections: - International Competition for feature films - International Competition for short films - Retrospectives - Special Events and Premières 5. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS Admission to the International Competitions is reserved to films of any country, completed after 1 st January 2016 and that have Music as protagonist in its broadest meaning, belonging to all genres (features, documentaries, musicals, biopics, animations, etc.), aiming at the renewal of cinema. Entry is free. Application to the Competition is presented by filling in the official entry form. Proprietors of films wishing to participate in the Competitions are requested by 1 st March 2017 to provide the festival with an online screening of the film, or to send a DVD screener of the film, together with the plot and all suitable information. Films expressly invited by the Festival Direction can participate in the Competition. Festival Direction can reject those films which can not guarantee a good quality public screening. Feature films should be at least 70 minutes long. Short films should be no longer than 20 minutes. Music Videos are not accepted. These criteria are by no means mandatory, and exceptions can be considered, under the unique and final judgement of the Festival Direction. 6. ENTRY FOR THE COMPETITION PRE-SELECTION Entry is free. The entry form must be submitted online by 1 st March 2017. You can choose two ways to submit the film: a) Online screening (preferable): fill in the entry form with the link and password to the online screening. The password should have a reasonable duration and will not be given to others than selection committee members. In need, the festival can provide with the private emails of those who will watch the online screening. You can also submit your film via Festhome at this link: https://festhome.com/f/soundscreen
b) DVD screener: it must arrive to festival office within 1 st March 2017: via Cerchio 31, 48121 Ravenna, Italy All DVD for pre-selection coming from non-eu countries shall carry the following wording: "For cultural purposes only, without commercial value", with a custom proforma invoice of maximum 1 (one) USD. Noncompliant parcels shall be rejected. Participants shall pay for expedition of these selection materials. The festival will not pay for any expedition and/or custom duty. 7. ADMITTED FILMS The Festival will give final communications about the admitted films within 10 th March 2017. Screening formats are: DCP, blue ray, dvd, files. For all films admitted to the competition, the festival will ask for press and catalogue materials. 8. SHIPMENT OF COPIES AND INSURANCE COSTS Freight costs for the A/R shipment of the prints are at the festival s expenses, except when, on the way back, the print has to be shipped to another Film Festival on request of the producer of the film. In this case, the Festival will pay for only 1 (one) shipment. All screening copies of the selected films are requested to reach the Festival in Ravenna by 20 th March 2017. Beyond that day, films will be rejected by competition and programme. All shipments must be organized with the Festival. All shipment shall bear in attachment a copy of the entry form indicating the sender's name, the title and the format of the film. At the same time, the sender is requested to e-mail the AWB tracking number of the shipment. International shipments from non-eu countries are requested to carry in attachment a pro-forma invoice "For cultural purposes only, without commercial value" with a maximum amount of 40 USD. The Festival organisation shall not pay for extra customs duties. 9. SCREENING OF FILMS The Festival Direction will be responsible for the scheduling and timetable of the screening, by his unique and final decision. Foreign films will be screened in original version with Italian subtitles. The Festival will take care of the Italian subtitles. The Festival will publish a general catalogue of the screened films. 10. AWARDS An International Jury of at least three people will confer the following awards: - Best Feature Film - Best Director - Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding Musical Contribution - Best Short-Film All decisions by the Jury are final. The Audience of the Festival will vote the feature films to confer the Audience Award. 11. RETURN OF COPIES The return of copies admitted to the competition shall be carried out within two weeks of the end of the Festival, following the instructions by the owner of the screening copy. 12. GENERAL PROVISIONS AND CHALLENGES Entry and participation in the Festival imply full acceptance of the present regulation and of the entry form. The Festival Direction will take all final decisions as to any exception not envisaged in the present regulation. In case of litigation, the Court of Ravenna shall be competent. The present regulation is laid down both in Italian and in English. In case of interpretation problems, the Italian version shall prevail. ITALIAN VERSION 1. OBIETTIVI E FINALITÀ Il SOUNDSCREEN Film Festival è un festival di CINEMA dedicato ai film che hanno come protagonista la MUSICA nel suo senso più ampio, appartenenti a tutti i generi (fiction, documentari, musicals, biopics, animazioni, etc.), attraverso il concorso per lungometraggi, retrospettive ed eventi correlati. 2. ENTI PROMOTORI Il festival, per la direzione artistica di Albert Bucci, è promosso e organizzato dall'associazione Culturale Ravenna Cinema in compartecipazione con il Comune di Ravenna Assessorato alla Cultura; con il contributo della regione Emilia-Romagna e della Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna.
3. DATE E LUOGHI DELLA MANIFESTAZIONE Il Festival si svolgerà a Ravenna dal 1 al 9 Aprile 2017. La location è il Palazzo del Cinema, Largo Firenze 1, 48121 Ravenna. SEZIONI Il Festival si articolerà nelle seguenti sezioni: - Concorso Internazionale per lungometraggi - Concorso Internazionale per cortometraggi - Retrospettive - Eventi Speciali e anteprime 5. CONCORSI INTERNAZIONALI Possono partecipare al Concorso Internazionali per lungometraggi film provenienti da tutte le nazioni, terminati dopo il 1 gennaio 2016, di ogni genere (fiction, documentari, musicals, biopics, animazioni, etc.), e che hanno come protagonista la Musica, inteso nella sua accezione più ampia, suscettibili di contribuire al rinnovamento stilistico e tematico del cinema. L'iscrizione è gratuita. La richiesta d iscrizione ai Concorsi deve essere inoltrata per scheda ufficiale d iscrizione. I titolari delle opere che intendono partecipare al concorso dovranno entro il 1 marzo 2017 fornire un online screening del film, o spedire un DVD, insieme alla trama e a ogni documentazione informativa a piacere. Possono partecipare al Concorso film invitati espressamente dalla Direzione. La partecipazione al Festival può essere rifiutata ai film tecnicamente non in grado di garantire una buona proiezione pubblica. I film lunghi dovrebbero durare almeno 70 minuti. I film corti dovrebbero durare entro i 20 minuti. I Videoclip musicali non sono accettati. Questi sono criteri di massima non ostativi: si potranno considerare tutte le eccezioni, secondo il giudizio unico e insindacabile della Direzione del Festival. 6. ISCRIZIONE PER LA PRE-SELEZIONE AI CONCORSI L iscrizione è gratuita. La scheda d iscrizione va compilata online entro il 1 marzo 2017. Si possono sceglire due modi per sottoporre il film: a) visione online (preferibile): compilare la scheda di iscrizione con il link e la password alla visione online. La password deve avere una validità ragionevole e non sarà data a terzi, se non i membri del comitato di selezione. Nel caso, il festival potrà formire le mail private di coloro che guarderanno il film online. Si può iscrivere il film anche attraverso Festhome a questo link: https://festhome.com/f/soundscreen b) dvd screener: il dvd deve arrivare alla sede del festival entro e non oltre il 1 marzo 2017: via Cerchio 31, 48121 Ravenna I dvd per la pre-selezione provenienti da Paesi non appartenenti alla Comunità Europea devono essere spediti con la seguente dicitura: Per scopo culturale senza valore commerciale, con un valore doganale di massimo 1 (uno) USD. Ogni invio scorretto sarà rifiutato. Le spese di spedizione di tutti i materiali di selezione sono a carico dei partecipanti. Il festival non pagherà alcuna spesa di spedizione e/o di dogana. 7. FILM AMMESSI AL CONCORSO Il Festival darà comunicazione finale sui film selezionati entro il 10 marzo 2017. I formati di proiezione sono: DCP, blue ray, dvd, files. Per tutte le opere ammesse al Concorso, il Festival richiederà presskit e materiali per il catalogo. 8. COSTI DI SPEDIZIONE E ASSICURAZIONE I costi di spedizione A/R delle copie dei film saranno a carico del Festival, a meno che la copia non debba essere spedita a un altro festival, su richiesta del produttore del film. In tal caso, il Festival pagherà solo 1
(una) spedizione. Le copie di proiezione dei film selezionati devono arrivare presso la sede del festival entro il 20 marzo 2017. Oltre tale data, i film saranno esclusi dal concorso e dalla programmazione. Ogni spedizione dovrà essere organizzata con il Festival. La spedizione sarà accompagnata da una copia della scheda d iscrizione, con il nome del mittente, il titolo e il formato del film. Il mittente dovrà comunicare, per e-mail, la data e il numero di spedizione AWB. Le spedizioni internazionali provenienti da stati non appartenenti alla comunità europea dovranno essere accompagnate da una fattura proforma "per solo uso culturale senza valore commerciale", per un ammontare massimo di 40 USD. L'organizzazione del festival non si farà carico di spese doganali extra. 9. PROIEZIONE DEI FILM Il calendario e gli orari delle proiezioni sono di competenza della Direzione, la cui decisione è unica e indiscutibile. I film stranieri saranno presentati in versione originale con sottotitoli in italiano. Il Festival preparerà i sottotitoli italiani. Il Festival pubblicherà un catalogo generale delle opere presentate. 10. PREMI Una giuria internazionale di almeno tre membri conferirà i seguenti premi: - Miglior Film - Miglior Regia - Premio Speciale della Giuria per il Miglior Contributo Musicale - Miglior Corto Tutte le decisioni della giuria sono definitive. Il pubblico voterà per attribuire il Premio Del Pubblico. 11. RESTITUZIONE DELLE COPIE La restituzione delle opere ammesse al concorso sarà effettuata entro due settimane dalla fine del Festival, secondo le istruzioni ricevute dal titolare della copia. 12. DISPOSIZIONI GENERALI E CONTESTAZIONI L iscrizione e la partecipazione al Festival implica l accettazione completa del presente regolamento e della scheda d iscrizione. Per ogni eccezione non rientrante nel presente regolamento la Direzione del Festival si riserva il diritto di assumere decisioni definitive. Il presente regolamento è redatto in italiano e inglese. In caso di problemi interpretativi fa fede la versione italiana.
