Siamo lieti di condividere con voi gli eventi che hanno avuto luogo presso il centro durante il mese di luglio. Grazie per il vostro continuo sostegno. P. Emilio 12 th July Camillian community in Karungu celebrated the Feast of St. Camillus. To start up the day was a Holy Mass that was celebrated at the Medical ward and presided over by Camillians priests in Karungu: Fr. Elphas with Fr. Emilio, Fr. John, Fr. David and other Passionist priests. During the occasion, Fr. Elphas introduced seven novices who will be staying in the mission for a period of one year. After the Mass, Dala Kiye children entertained those present with a choral verse and a song. Invited guests were later hosted at the community dining hall where they had their lunch. In the afternoon the children went for a swim at the lake accompanied by Simona Leonardi from Firenze who will be staying in Karungu for some few days and Giulia & Gabriele two Italian volunteers from Trentino who are hosted in Tabaka Hospital. 12 Luglio La comunità camilliana di Karungu ha celebrato la Festa di San Camillo. La giornata è iniziata con la Santa Messa celebrata dai sacerdoti camilliani presso il reparto di medicina, presieduta da P. Elphas e concelebrata da P. Emilio, P. John. P. David, insieme a altri sacerdoti passionisti. Durante l'occasione, p. Elphas ha presentato i sette novizie ospiti nella missione per il loro anno di noviziato. Dopo la Messa, i bambini del Dala Kiye hanno intrattenuto i presenti con poesie e canzoni. Gli invitati sono stati successivamente ospitati per il pranzo presso la comunità.
Nel pomeriggio I bambini sono andati al lago a fare il bagno accompagnati da Simona Leonardi da Firenze, che si fermera a Karungu per alcuni giorni, e da Giulia e Gabriele, due volontari ospiti a Tabaka, originari del Trentino.
13 th July Nancy Akeyo of We World Kenya Foundation and Sr. Veronica from St. Anne s Teachers Training College in Nakuru began an assessment for the 18 pre-school teachers enrolled in Montessori Program. The purpose of the visit was to test the teachers understanding of the already taught concepts and to assess whether they were putting them into practice. They also intended to check if the pre-school learners materials that were given to their schools were well displayed in shelves to aid in the learning process for the children. In their visits they were accompanied by Dala Kiye staff. 13 Luglio Nancy Akeyo di We World Kenya e Suor Veronica del St. Anne s Teachers Training College di Nakuru hanno effettuato una valutazione dei 18 insegnanti della scuola materna iscritti al programma Montenssori. Lo scopo della visita era di testare la preparazione degli insegnanti, la comprensione dei concetti già appresi e per valutarne la pratica. Hanno inoltre verificato se il materiale degli alunni della scuola erano ben posizionati e visibili negli scaffali, metodo necessario al processo di apprendimento dei bambini. Nella loro visita sono stati accompagnati dal personale del Dala Kiye.
14 th July A two day workshop for members of Nyatike Sub-County Area Advisory Council (AAC) commenced at Supanova Hotel in Sori. The official opening was presided over by the Sub-County Children Officer, the Sub-County Commissioner and Dala Kiye Program Coordinator. The AAC is a body that oversees child right and protection activities within its area of jurisdiction and brings together partners and government line ministries that work towards safeguarding the rights of children. The workshop was supported by Dala Kiye and We World Onlus. 14 Luglio Presso il Supanova Hotel di Sori si è tenuto un workshop di due giorni per i membri Sub-County Area Advisory Council (AAC) di Nyatike. L'apertura ufficiale è stata presieduta dai responsabili della Contea il Sub-County Children Officer e il Sub-County Commissioner e dal coordinatore del programma Dala Kiye. L'AAC è un associazione che supervisiona le attività relative ai diritti dei bambini e della loro protezione all'interno del territorio di competenza e riunisce partners e ministeri del governo per adoperarsi per la salvaguardia dei diritti dei bambini. L workshop è stato finanaziato dal Dala Kiye attraverso We World Onlus. 15 th July Dala Kiye in collaboration with We World Onlus distributed 50 learners desks to Paulo Odendo Primary school. This was part of an initiative that aims at improving learning environment for pupils in schools partnering with the two organizations. The school community were very grateful for the support and promised to put the items into good use.
15 Luglio Il Dala Kiye, in collaborazione con We World Onlus, ha distribuito 50 banchi alla scuola Paulo Odendo Primary School, come parte di un'iniziativa che mira a migliorare l'ambiente di apprendimento per gli alunni nelle scuole sostenute dalle due organizzazioni. La comunità scolastica è stata molto grata per il sostegno ricevuto e ha promesso di mantenere I banchi donati in buono stato. 20 th July Dr. Franz Heller together with his wife Dr. Stefanie Heller and their daughter Martina, arrived in Karungu ready to start their volunteer mission in the hospital. Dr. Franz is a Gynaecologist while the wife is a general practitioner in the field of internal medicine. The two doctors will be in Karungu for a period of two weeks. On the other hand, their daughter Martina will be visiting and volunteering at Marist Brothers in Mfangano. The visitors travelled from Germany and on most occasions have dedicated their time to assisting the sick in our hospital. 20 Luglio Il Dr. Franz Heller insieme a sua moglie Dr.ssa Stefanie Heller e la loro figlia Martina sono arrivati a Karungu per la loro missione di volontariato in ospedale per due settimane. Dr. Franz è un ginecologo mentre la moglie è un medico generico. Martina e di passaggio essendo ospite dai fratelli Maristi. I medici provenienti dalla Germania hanno più volte dedicato il loro tempo e la loro professionalità ad assistere i malati nel nostro ospedale. 21 st July Dr. Stefanie while in the company of her daughter Martina and their friend Lina, visited the Centre where they had a chance of familiarizing themselves with the facilities. They also greeted the children and staff. Dr. Stefanie s daughter later visited the young children enrolled in pre-school within the centre and spent some time with them. The children were very happy. 21 Luglio La Dr.ssa Stefanie in compagnia di sua figlia Martina e della loro amica Lina, hanno visitato il centro dove hanno avuto la possibilità di familiarizzare con la struttura e salutare i bambini e il personale. Martina ha successivamente fatto visita ai bambini della scuola materna all'interno del centro e trascorso del tempo con loro. I bambini erano molto felici.
22 nd July Dala Kiye under its economic empowerment initiative for caregivers assisted Orongo Caregivers support group from Aringo Primary in starting a poultry project. The group was assisted to put up a poultry house and were later issued with 300 one day old improved local chicks plus start up feeds. The proceeds from this venture are supposed to help the caregivers provide basic needs for the orphans and other vulnerable children under their care. The group members thanked Dala Kiye and We World Onlus for their support. 22 Luglio Il Dala Kiye nell'ambito di una iniziativa di emancipazione economica per gli operatori sanitari di Orongo, col supporto del gruppo Aringo Primary, ha avviato il progetto pollaio. Il gruppo è stato aiutato a costruire il pollaio e ad avviare l attività con 300 pulcini locali e il mangime necessario. I proventi di questa impresa dovrebbero aiutare i sostenitori a coprire le esigenze di base degli orfani e degli altri bambini vulnerabili di cui si prendono cura. I membri del gruppo hanno ringraziato il Dala Kiye e We World Onlus per il loro sostegno. 26 th July The Centre hosted visitors from Tabaka Mission Hospital. The visitors comprised of staff, volunteers and nursing students from the institution. The visitors brought to the children gifts that comprised of food items such as sugar cane and avocadoes. They also shared a meal together with the delighted children and staff at the dining hall. The team from Tabaka usually visit the centre every year and always carry with them a variety of gifts to the children. Dala Kiye would like to appreciate them for their continued support and collaboration.
26 Luglio Il centro ha ospitato alcuni visitatori dal Tabaka Mission Hospital: personale dell ospedale, volontari e studenti infermieri hanno portato ai bambini alcuni doni tra cui la canna da zucchero e gli avocado. Hanno poi pranzato con i bambini e il personale presso la sala da pranzo del centro. Il team di Tabaka è solito visitare il centro ogni anno e portare sempre con sé una varietà di doni ai bambini. Il Dala Kiye apprezza il loro continuo sostegno e la loro collaborazione. In the morning, the Bishops and the Camillian community held a Holy Mass at the Novitiate Chapel followed by breakfast.
