Le motivazioni per scegliere un salpa-ancore manuale sono essenzialmente due: semplicità massima per l installazione che non prevede alcuna stesura di cavi elettrici sull imbarcazione e costo sensibilmente inferiore rispetto all equivalente elettrico. L assorbimento di corrente da parte del salpa-ancore elettrico non costituisce in realtà mai un problema; le moderne imbarcazioni hanno batterie adeguate ed il salpa-ancore elettrico funziona solo per pochi minuti. La sicurezza, la praticità e la velocità nelle operazioni di ancoraggio che offre un salpa-ancore elettrico sono però ineguagliabili e condizionano fortemente la scelta: 95 salpa-ancore venduti su 100 sono elettrici. Il nostro personale consiglio è di preferire un modello elettrico; il costo superiore ed il maggior lavoro per l istallazione sarà ampiamente compensato nel momento in cui il salpa-ancore inizierà a lavorare! I salpa-ancore si dividono in due differenti tipi: verricelli verticali e verricelli orizzontali. La scelta deve essere fatta in funzione delle caratteristiche che si vogliono privilegiare. Vertical or horizontal? There are two different types of anchor windlasses, vertical anchor windlass and horizontal anchor windlass. Salpa-ancore verticali Grazie alla loro tipologia costruttiva, permettono di avere un ingombro sopra coperta veramente ridotto, essendo il motore e il riduttore installati all interno del gavone. Rispetto ai tipi orizzontali hanno inoltre un peso ed un costo leggermente inferiore. Il loro particolare design li rende particolarmente attraenti e funzionali per ogni tipo di imbarcazioni sia a motore che a vela. Per la caratteristica di avere una buona parte della meccanica sotto coperta, le eventuali operazioni di controllo e di manutenzione sono meno semplici ed immediate rispetto agli orizzontali. Vertical anchor windlass The main advantage of this type of anchor windlass is that the profile deck is very compact as the electric motor and the gearbox are under the deck. With most of the mechanical components under deck, the maintenance operations are less simple than the horizontal anchor windlasses. Salpa-ancore orizzontali Sono i salpa-ancore classici ideati in funzione della praticità d uso. Vengono normalmente installati sopra coperta. La parte meccanica ed il motore sono protetti da un corpo e da un carter facilmente accessibili che rendono più comodi eventuali controlli. Anche la loro installazione è più semplice e richiede meno attenzioni. Possono essere anche montati completamente a scomparsa nel gavone di prua. Horizontal anchor windlass These are the classic anchor windlass design, practical and useful. Normally they are entirely installed above deck. All mechanical components and the gearbox are protected by the body and the electric motor by the cover. This makes maintenance operations easy. The installation is very simple and it take less time than the vertical ones. They can be mounted into the anchor locker to further reduce the above deck profile.

5 Quale modello e quale potenza? La scelta del modello e della relativa potenza deve essere principalmente fatta considerando la lunghezza e il dislocamento dell imbarcazione. Nella pagina successiva pubblichiamo delle tabelle che aiutano a scegliere il modello più adatto. Esistono però altri parametri altrettanto importanti che potrebbero portare a delle scelte differenti da quelle da noi proposte. Questo perchè non è possibile generalizzare con formule, calcoli o tabelle differenti situazioni dovute al tipo di imbarcazione, al grado di competenza di chi che esegue l ancoraggio, alle condizioni estremamente variabili in cui viene eseguito l ancoraggio. Pur tuttavia queste tabelle costituiscono un importante punto di riferimento, essendo frutto di un esperienza trentennale. Attenzione! Per questi ed altri motivi può spesso succedere che due modelli analoghi come caratteristiche e prestazioni proposti da due differenti costruttori siano consigliati per imbarcazioni di differente grandezza. E chiaro che gli apparecchi andranno confrontati in funzione, delle dimensioni, del peso, della robustezza, della potenza e di altre caratteristiche evidenti! Evitate di paragonare modelli con caratteristiche diverse solo perchè entrambi i fabbricanti li dichiarano adatti per quella grandezza d imbarcazione. Gran parte dei nostri modelli vengono offerti con due differenti motori: Il motore più potente ha una capacità di tiro ed una velocità di recupero superiore al motore di minore potenza, il quale presenta un minor assorbimento consentendo così l uso di cavi elettrici più di sezione più piccola. Which model and power? The choice of model and power should be done considering length and displacement of the boat. On the following pages there are helpful selection charts to choose the proper model for your boat. This cover a lot of important parameters, which will address some of your questions to the different choices. In fact, it is not possible to generalise with formulas, calculations or different charts, as there are plenty of situations due to the type of boat, the skill of the person who is making the anchoring operation, the wind force and sea condition. These selection charts are the result of thirty years of experience and it must be considered as an important reference. Most of the comparisons between windlasses is done following the data declared from the manufacturer against which windlass is recommended for a specific length of boats. That could be a mistake! From our point of view, to get a correct evalutation, the windlasses should be compared for sizes, weight, mechanical strength, power and other visible features, so please do not compare windlasses having different features just because both the manufacturers recommend them for the specific length of boat. Most of our anchor windlasses are available in two different electric motors, a powerful electric motor which is faster and has more pulling power, and a smaller one with a lower current draw so it is possible to use smaller cross section electric cables. 3

6 4 Notizie tecniche relative ai salpa-ancore lofrans E estremamente importante per la costruzione del salpa-ancore scegliere dei materiali il più possibile resistenti alla corrosione marina, leggeri e con buone caratteristiche meccaniche ed intervenire con trattamenti chimici o galvanici che aumentano la resistenza alla corrosione del pezzo. E fondamentale inoltre cercare di progettare e costruire tutto ciò che è possibile, evitando di usare motori, riduttori o altri pezzi impiegati in altri campi, facilmente più economici ma sicuramente meno adatti. Per questo motivo tutti i pezzi che compongono un salpa-ancore LOFRANS sono in gran parte ideati e costruiti per essere impiegati in ambiente marino, anche se ciò comporta per noi un aumento dei costi, rispetto a componenti industriali disponili sul mercato. Ecco un elenco dei materiali impiegati su alcuni dei pezzi più significativi che compongono il salpa-ancore: n albero principale in acciaio inox. AISI 431 bonificato ad elevata resistenza meccanica n corpo salpa-ancore, campane ed altri particolari in speciale lega leggera di alluminio al magnesio con trattamento di normalizzazione, lucidati e sottoposti a procedimento di anodizzazione o ad un trattamento di verniciatura in polvere di poliestere essicato a forno n corona per vite senza fine in bronzo all alluminio - vite senza fine in acciaio 38NCD4 n viteria ed altri particolari esterni in acciaio inox 304 o 316 Su molti modelli vengono impiegati diversi particolari ricavati mediante stampaggio a caldo del metallo (esempio barbotin, frizioni, corone per vite senza fine, volantini, ecc). Questa tecnica, rispetto al pezzo ricavato mediante fusione del metallo in conchiglie a gravità, presenta un costo superiore ma permette di ottenere un migliore aspetto superficiale, una struttura più compatta e delle caratteristiche meccaniche sensibilmente superiori. Lofrans anchor windlasses technical information To make windlass, it is extremely important to select light weight, high mechanical strength and marine corrosion resistant materials to increase durability by chemical or galvanic treatments thus improving their anti-corrosion properties. It is essential to manufacture and design all the components of the windlass, avoiding the use of motors, gearbox or other components not coming from marine fields, certainly more economic, but far less appropriate in the harsh that yachts and boat find themselves sailing in. For this reason, all the components of a Lofrans windlass are designed and manufactured for a sea environment, despite the increase on our costs in comparisons with industrial components available on the market. List of materials on some relevant windlass components n The main shaft is in stainless steel AISI 431 with a high mechanical strength. n The body of the windlass, the drum and various components are made in a special alluminium alloy, polished and anodised or powered by a white polyester paint. n The wormwheel is in alloy bronze - worm is in 38NCD4 steel. n Screws and outer components are in stainless steel AISI 304 or AISI 316. Hot forged components, e.g. wingnut, gypsy, gear wheel, clutches are supplied on the most of our windlasses. The hot forging process is more expensive than the traditional casting process, but provides high mechanical strength components, a more compact molecular structure and a better surface condition.

7 Riduttori per modelli ad asse verticale I nostri riduttori a vite senza fine ad elevato rendimento sono interamente studiati e costruiti per uso marino; i rapporti di trasmissione impiegati (da 1/50 a 1/75 circa) rappresentano un giusto compromesso tra capacità di sollevamento e velocità di recupero. La lubrificazione a bagno d olio assicura una lunga durata dei meccanismi interni ed un funzionamento regolare e silenzioso. La carcassa esterna, per una maggiore protezione, è anodizzata color nero. Gearbox for vertical models Our gearbox at high mechanical efficiency are designed and made for marine use. The ratio from 1/50 up to 1/75 is the right compromise between performance and speed. The long life oil bath lubrification protects the internal components of the gearbox from wear and tear and reduces the noise. The gear case is black anodised for a long-life protection. Motori elettrici I nostri motori elettrici sono stati studiati e costruiti per essere impiegati in ambiente marino. Presentano pertanto delle caratteristiche particolari: n grado di protezione all acqua IP56 (motore protetto contro getti d acqua) n albero motore, viti, tiranti e coperchio d ispezione in acciaio inox, carcassa protetta con cataforesi nera. Essendo motori ad eccitazione serie a campi avvolti, offrono il vantaggio, rispetto ai più economici motori a magneti permanenti, di possedere una ineguagliabile coppia massima di spunto, utile nelle situazioni più critiche. Electric motors Our electric motors are designed and made for marine use. They have particular features: n Manufactured IP 56 degree of protection (DIN ) protection against deckwater n Shaft, screws, nuts and cover made in stainless steel n Electric motor case protected by a black paint Most of Lofrans electric motors are series-wound. They have the advantage in comparison with the less expensive permanent magnet motors to produce an initial starting torque which can be useful in critical situations. 5

8 6 Come leggere i dati del catalogo Howtoread the data included in this catalogue Velocità di recupero della catena Per ogni modello viene indicata la velocità di recupero della catena insieme al dato, espresso in kg, del peso sollevato. Questo dato può ovviamente variare per ciascun modello che funzionerà sollevando pesi differenti dovuti alla dimensione della catena, al peso dell ancora e alla profondità del fondale. A titolo di esempio abbiamo considerato: n Kg. 25 per modelli da 500 Watt n Kg. 50 per i modelli da 1000 Watt e così via con pesi sempre più elevati per i modelli più potenti. Dobbiamo comunque considerare che la velocità di rimonta è continuamente variabile (aumenta con il diminuire del peso sollevato): in sostanza il motore elettrico del salpa-ancore varia velocità in funzione della coppia che il motore deve erogare per sollevare quel determinato peso. Haulage speed For each model it is indicated the haulage speed at a specific load, in kilogrammes. This specific load was chosen according to the features of the windlass and their average uses. For instance a 500 Watt model we considered a specific load of 25 Kgs, for a 1000 Watt model the specific load is 50 Kgs. Naturally powerful models ask for greater specific load. It is important to consider the haulage speed of the windlass depending on the lifting load, increasing when the load is lower, so the electric motor of the windlass change speed in order to the request torque to lift chain and anchor. Tiro max istantaneo Rappresenta il valore massimo di tiro che il salpa-ancore può raggiungere per pochi secondi. Viene letto su un dinamometro installato sullo stesso asse del barbotin. Più questo dato è alto, maggiore è la capacità del salpa-ancore di disincagliare l ancora. Questo valore non coincide con la capacità massima di sollevamento, influenzata da alcune variabili: a titolo indicativo, con un angolo di lavoro della catena di 90 gradi ed un puntale di media qualità la capacità reale di sollevamento risulta essere di circa la metà del tiro massimo istantaneo. Assorbimento I valori indicati sono quelli riscontrabili durante il recupero della catena in condizioni normali di lavoro. Anche l assorbimento di corrente varia a seconda del peso sollevato. Un picco di assorbimento sensibilmente superiore a quanto indicato, anche se di breve durata, si può avere nello spedare l ancora dal fondale. Maximum pull It is the maximum pull that a windlass can provide for a few seconds. This is measured by a dynamometer put between the gipsy and the bow roller. This value does not coincide with the maximum lifting power of the windlass, which is influenced by some factors, e.g. using a medium quality bow roller and with a working angle of 90 degrees, the real maximum lifting power is approximately half of the maximum pull. Current draw The values are reliable during the recovery of the chain under normal conditions. Even the current draw changes according to the load being lifted. A brief peak of current, superior of what indicated, it is possible when you get the anchor afloat.

32 Catene aggrovigliate addio! é nato EASY CHAIN SYSTEM* No more anchor chain pyramiding! it is born EASY CHAIN SYSTEM* Molte imbarcazioni a vela ed a motore, hanno il problema di distribuire la catena per l ancoraggio in modo uniforme all interno del gavone di prua. Questo perché la catena entrando nel gavone si accumula verticalmente, determinando una serie di inconvenienti. Oggi, l ECS permette di risolvere tutto questo semplicemente indirizzando la catena verso la parte maggiormente profonda del gavone ed al contempo distribuendola sui due lati dello stesso. L EASY CHAIN SYSTEM ECS modello MS è costituito da un tubo motorizzato oscillante nel quale scorre la catena, che entra in funzione automaticamente quando il salpa-ancore viene azionato in salita. Nella fase di discesa della catena il tubo si pone in posizione centrale. Il montaggio è semplice ed avviene installando il prodotto su delle piastre di supporto con sistema a doppia faccia già configurate in funzione del tipo di gavone. Sono stati a tale scopo resi disponibili dei Kit (opzionali) per rendere l installazione la più agevole possibile. This makes a lot of inconveniences. Today, ECS allows to simply solving all these problems addressing and spreading the incoming chain to the deepest part of the chain locker, all at the same time. The EASY CHAIN SISTEM ECS model MS includes an oscillating motorized tube in which the chain slides. It starts automatically when the windlass is powering up. When the chain is lowered, the tube is kept in a central position. The assembly is simple and the product is installed on a double side support slabs with the pre-configured clamp for the type of chain locker. Optional mounting kits are available to make easiest the installation. Ciò consente la più ampia libertà di movimento per azionare il salpa ancore da ogni parte dell imbarcazione. La scheda elettronica di ricezione è protetta opportunamente da uno speciale contenitore stagno. Per evitare pericolosi azionamenti accidentali, il radio-comando si attiva unicamente premendo in maniera prolungata (circa 3 secondi) il tasto di accensione. Ogni radio-comando possiede un suo codice di lettura, diverso per ogni esemplare, che rende impossibile azionamenti con altri radio-comandi.
