6 midollo interno_layout 1 07/03/11 08:45 Pagina 6 6 Aims of the 8 th International Symposium on Experimental Spinal Cord Repair and Regeneration The eighth International Symposium of Experimental Spinal Cord Repair and Regeneration will take place on 9-14 May 2011, in Brescia in the precincts of the Medical School of the University of Brescia as the previous editions. In the last two years many advancements have been achieved by researchers all over the world. The number of publications in Neurosciences is to day enormous. Science wrote that in 2005, articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Obviously it will not be possible to present such a big amount of new knowledge, but I foresee that all of us will take home from Brescia interesting pieces of information in their own fields. Since now I want to thank all the presenters as well as all those participants who will take part in the discussion for their contribution to the advancement in science. As you can see reading the program the Symposium will cover three days of intense presentations divided into subject groups: basic research ( biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, experimental surgery, a.s.o.) and applied research ( clinical neurosurgery, reconstructive surgery, urology, neuro-rehabilitation a.s.o.). The 8 th Edition will be enriched by 3 more days with sessions regarding rehabilitation, treatment of pain, social helps, architectural alterations of buildings and public transportation a.s.o. in order to cover all the aspects of spinal cord injured patients.
