POLIPODIO is a leading company in the field of cathodic protection, boasting a 50 years experience in the production of sacrificial anodes in zinc, aluminium and magnesium alloy and of impressed current systems for the marine and boating industry, and for off-shore and industrial activities. Thanks to our long experience and to our specialized technicians we are able to carry out and supervise all aspects of cathodic protection, including design, engineering, manufacturing, monitoring and assistance after installation. Full technical assistance to final customers is guaranteed by well stocked warehouses in all main Italian ports and by our international network of sales agents. The attention to quality both in the production and in customer satisfaction is testified by quality certifications (UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification). 8 LEDER NELL PROTEZIONE CTODIC La protezione catodica è uno dei mezzi più efficaci per ridurre o eliminare i danni della corrosione che inevitabilmente si innesca nei metalli, ed in particolare nel ferro, quando rimangono a contatto con l acqua di mare o comunque con un ambiente liquido. Tale rimedio è altrettanto efficace per le strutture metalliche interrate che sono in egual misura attaccate dalla corrosione, spesso aumentata dal fenomeno delle correnti vaganti disperse da impianti fissi a corrente continua (ferrovie, elettrodi, ecc.). Scafi di navi, strutture portuali, sea line, piattaforme ecc. non possono essere trattate esclusivamente con pitture poiché queste offrono solo un azione protettiva limitata nel tempo; è quindi indispensabile intervenire ad applicare una buona protezione catodica che può essere realizzata sia con anodi galvanici sia con impianti a corrente impressa, oppure con un sistema che preveda la combinazione di entrambi. Qui di seguito Vi elenchiamo i parametri fondamentali ed indispensabili per dimensionare adeguatamente un impianto di protezione catodica, sia esso ad anodi che a corrente impressa: - estensione della superficie da proteggere - geometria della superficie - durata prevista della struttura - condizioni ambientali - condizioni di operatività della struttura. Recentemente, abbiamo trasferito l esperienza accumulata nel settore navale per quanto riguarda la produzione ed il service su impianti antifouling, al settore della nautica ed in particolare ai megayachts. 9 CTHODIC PROTECTION LEDER Cathodic protection is one of the most effective ways of reducing or eliminating the corrosion damage that inevitably affects metals (iron in particular) that are in permanent contact with sea water or other liquids. It also provides effective protection for buried metal structures, which are equally affected by corrosion in situations that are often worsened by stray currents from fixed dc systems (railway lines, power transmission lines, etc.). Paint provides only limited protection over time for ship s hull, port structures, sea lines, platforms, etc. This means effective cathodic protection system must be implemented using sacrificial anodes, impressed currents, or systems combining both. The fundamental parameters in sizing sacrificial anode or impressed current cathodic protection system are: - calculation of the surface to protect - surface geometry - expected life-cycle of the structure - environmental conditions structure operating conditions. Recently, we have transferred the experience acquired in the production and service of antifouling systems for ships, also to the boating sector, particularly to megayachts. Our commercial and technical departments are at your disposal to evaluate your particular needs, to design and supply new systems or to guarantee technical assistance and spare parts for pre-existing systems. 7

10 SISTEM DI MONITORGGIO DELL PROTEZIONE CTODIC C.I.P.S. L esperienza che abbiamo accumulato nel settore navale, petrolifero ed industriale nel campo della protezione catodica ed in particolare nel monitoraggio e nel controllo dei fenomeni ad essa collegati ci ha permesso di trasferire parti di know- how specifici anche al settore della nautica, dai mega yachts in acciaio o in alluminio ai lussuosi yachts in vetroresina. I nostri sistemi di monitoraggio (C.I.P.S.) vengono già utilizzati regolarmente dai principali cantieri di costruzione e permettono la verifica costante ed in tempo reale dello stato di protezione dello scafo e/o di tutte le parti metalliche esterne a contatto con l acqua di mare con la segnalazione di allarmi di sottoprotezione e sovraprotezione (caso quest ultimo possibile in presenza di impianti di protezione catodica a corrente impressa). Recentemente abbiamo implementato le caratteristiche dei nostri impianti che ora sono completamente interfacciabili con tutti i sistemi informatici di bordo ed a richiesta possono essere forniti completi di programma per la lettura da pc remoto con la possibilità di garantire addirittura l assistenza diretta da parte dei nostri uffici tecnici. Vista la peculiarità delle caratteristiche e delle esigenze di ogni cantiere di costruzione e/o di ogni singola imbarcazione, vi invitiamo a contattare i ns uffici per potervi sottoporre e personalizzare la migliore proposta tecnico/commerciale. SERVICE Il nostro ufficio tecnico, non offre solo tutta l assistenza necessaria sui nostri sistemi di monitoraggio e protezione catodica a corrente impressa, ma fornisce anche l assistenza su sistemi analoghi non di nostra produzione, nonché indagini strumentali per l identificazione delle cause di eventuali problemi legati alla corrosione di strutture metalliche a contatto con l acqua di mare compresi gli impianti interni di circolazione acqua. 11 MONITORING SYSTEM OF CTHODIC PROTECTION C.I.P.S. The experience we achieved in the naval, oil, and industrial fields and particularly in monitoring and control of cathodic protection devices, permit us to transfer our know how to the leisure boating industry both for yachts in alloy or steel and fibreglass. Our monitoring systems (C.I.P.S.) are common used from the biggest boat builders; they permit to verify in real time the level of cathodic protection of the hull and of all the external parts of the boat in contact with sea water with alarms of underprotection or over-protection (only if using an impressed current system). We have recently implemented the electronic characteristics of our systems that are now able to interface with the other electronic devices on board and on demand can be supplied complete of a remote control pc hardware that allows to check the level of protection directly from our technical department in house. Considered the particular needs and characteristics of any different boat builder and of any single boat, we suggest you to contact our technical dept. in order to submit you the best technical/economical solution. 12 SSISTENZ TECNIC L ufficio tecnico della E. Polipodio, oltre a progettare ed a garantire l assistenza all installazione dei propri impianti di protezione catodica, antivegetativi e di monitoraggio, è in grado di fornire l assistenza per la manutenzione d impianti non di propria produzione. L ufficio tecnico, inoltre, può eseguire sopralluoghi per fornire consulenza finalizzata a risolvere problemi di corrosione in atto o ad individuare soluzioni preventive. Questo tipo d intervento può essere eseguito anche su tutti gli impianti di bordo interessati alla circolazione d acqua: - impianti di raffreddamento motori - impianti di condizionamento - impianti antincendio - ect. La quantità e la varietà di casi inerenti problemi di corrosione affrontati e risolti positivamente dall azienda negli anni, ha permesso di accumulare un bagaglio di esperienza unico in questo campo fondamentale per garantire a tutti i clienti il supporto tecnico necessario per individuare e contrastare i danni provocati dalla corrosione. 10

13 TECHNICL SSISTNCE E. Polipodio s technical dept., besides the design and assistance to the installation of its cathodic protection, antifouling and monitoring systems, can also provide assistance for the servicing of plants produced by other companies. Moreover, our technical staff can carry out specific inspections, and give advice for the solving of corrosion problems, and/or for the identification of precautionary solutions. This type of inspection can be carried out also on any on board system involved in water circulation, such as: - engine cooling systems; - air conditioning systems; - fire-fighting systems The number and variety of cases concerning corrosion problems we have faced and positively solved during all these years, represent a unique experience acquired in this particular field, that allows us to give our customers the right technical support to fight and limit the damages caused by corrosion. 11

14 IL SISTEM QULITÀ ZIENDLE Da sempre il nostro obiettivo primario è quello di perseguire la massima qualità del nostro prodotto. Per questo si è ritenuto necessario ottenere la Certificazione del Sistema di Qualità ziendale, obiettivo raggiunto con il riconoscimento, da parte del R.I.N.., della conformità del Sistema alle norme UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 (certificato n 162/95/S). Tale politica è stata trasmessa, da parte della direzione, a tutti i livelli aziendali per garantire un elevato standard qualitativo teso ad un continuo miglioramento del servizio. Nel contempo, sensibili alle problematiche legate all equilibrio ambientale, abbiamo cercato di ridurre l impatto di ogni nostra lavorazione su di esso. ttraverso un attento controllo della gestione dei rifiuti e dei consumi, abbiamo avviato un processo che ha portato ad ottenere la certificazione UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 (certificato n EMS-107/S) e siamo oggi in grado di rispondere alle più esigenti normative vigenti anche in campo ambientale. QULITY SYSTEM We have always considered the quality of our products as the main aim of all our activities. For this reason we have considered it necessary to achieve the Quality Management System, target that we have successfully reached with the acknowledgement by R.I.N.. of the certification of compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 (certificate n 162/95/S) The Quality ssurance policy has been extended to all levels of our company, with the purpose of guaranteeing continuous improvements in the standard of Customer Service. In the meantime, aware of the environmental problems, we tried to decrease the impact of all our production processes and through a strict control of management of disposals and consumptions, we started a process that drove us to obtain UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 Certification.
