3 GENERALITA I supporti a rullo sono dispositivi che servono per sostenere il peso di tubazioni che, per effetto di variazioni termiche o di altre cause, presentano nei punti di sostegno degli spostamenti orizzontali la cui componente predominante è diretta in senso assiale. I supporti a rullo servono inoltre egregiamente per contrastare le forze orizzontali dovute all azione del vento sia a variazioni termiche in tutti i casi in ciò si renda necessario. I supporti a rullo brevettati Ca.S.T.Im sono disegnati e costruiti in modo tale da garantire una assoluta sicurezza di funzionamento; le varie parti componenti i supporti vengono realizzate con materiali di qualità atti ad essere collegati agevolmente mediante saldatura e, in esercizio, sono sottoposte a bassi livelli di sollecitazione. Tutte le saldature vengono eseguite in gas inerte con apparecchiature automatiche su appositi posizionatori, allo scopo di assicurare la costanza dei parametri operativi e del livello di qualità. Le boccole e le ralle reggispinta, impiegate per la costruzione dei supporti a rullo, sono di tipo autolubrificante a base di P.T.F.E. (palitetrafluoroetilene) su supporto metallico. I supporti a rullo brevettati Ca.S.T.Im presentano le seguenti caratteristiche distintive: non richiedono lubrificazione di alcun genere; mantengono praticamente invariati nel tempo i valori dei coefficienti di attrito; mantengono inalterate le loro caratteristiche al variare delle temperature di esercizio nell intervallo: C; sono adatti per movimenti alterni; non danno luogo all attrito di primo distacco; nelle specifiche condizioni di impiego hanno una durata praticamente illimitata; hanno una elevata resistenza agli urti. INTRODUCTION Roll supports are devices used to back up the weight of pipes where, due to heat changes or other causes, there can be horizontal shifts on the support points, whose major component points towards the axial direction. Moreover roll supports, whenever necessary, are extremely useful to counter horizontal forces due to the action of the wind or to heat changes. Ca.S.T.Im patented roll supports are developed and manufactured so as to guarantee a full operating safety. The different parts are manufactured with high quality materials which can be easily linked through welding and which during operation are subject to low stress levels. All weldings are carried out with inert gas through automatic systems on special welding positioners and therefore guarantee the steadfastness of operating parameters and the quality level. The bushes and the thrust bearing fifth wheels used to manufacture roll supports are of P.T.F.E. (palitetrafluoroethylene) self-lubricating type on metallic hangers. Ca.S.T.Im patented roll supports offer the following features: they do not need lubrication; in the course of time friction coefficients remain almost unchanged; in case of operating temperature changes in the space C their characteristics remain unchanged; right for alternate movements; they do not cause first disjunction friction; in the specific usage conditions their duration is practically unlimited; they are highly collision-resistant. STATO DI FORNITURA Tutti i supporti a rullo vengono forniti con ralle reggispinta in materiale autolubrificante. Se non diversamente concordato all atto dell ordinazione, tutti i tipi di supporti a rullo vengono forniti con perni in acciaio inossidabile. Rocchetto e basamento in acciaio al carbonio. Su richiesta i perni possono essere forniti in altro materiale. Per la protezione superficiale sia dei telai che dei rulli viene normalmente effettuata la verniciatura a spruzzo con vernice antiruggine, mentre le superfici interne dei rulli vengono protette con resine speciali; per impieghi in particolari condizioni ambientali può essere richiesta invece la zincatura per iersione. HOW SUPPLIED All roll supports are supplied with thrust bearing fifth wheels in self-lubricating material. Unless otherwise agreed at the time of order, all roll supports are supplied with stainless steel pins. Reel and base in carbon steel. If requested, pins can be supplied in other materials. The surface of frames and rolls is usually protected through spray painting processes with rust preventer paints while rolls internal surfaces are protected with special resins. Galvanization by dipping can be requested in case of use under special environmental conditions. 109

4 COLLAUDI E PROVE DI ACCETTAZIONE Se non diversamente concordato all atto dell ordinazione, una quota parte dei supporti ordinati pari all 1% viene sottoposta alle seguenti prove e collaudi di accettazione: a) prova di movimento a bassa velocità, consistente nel far compiere ai rulli, sottoposti ai massimi carichi aissibili, 7000 cicli di movimento alternativo sui rispettivi perni; b) collaudo funzionale, consistente nel rilevare sperimentalmente, prima e dopo la prova di movimento, i coefficienti di attrito dei supporti a rulli definiti come rapporti fra le forze di attrito e i carichi applicati. Per facilità di esecuzione delle prove, i rulli con i rispettivi perni vengono smontati dai telai e montati su apposite attrezzature di prova. INSPECTIONS AND ACCEPTANCE TESTINGS If not agreed otherwise at the time of order, 1% of the ordered hangers undergo the following inspections and acceptance tests: a) low speed movement test: the rolls, subject to the highest admissible loads, must carry out 7000 alternate movement cycles on their pins; b) functional inspection based on the experimental assessment, before and after the movement test, of the roll supports friction coefficients defined as the ratio between the friction forces and imposed loads. To facilitate the test run, the rolls and their pins are dismantled from the frames and assembled on special test equipment. CRITERI DI SCELTA I supporti a rullo brevettati Ca.S.T.Im vengono generalmente impiegati in tutti i casi in cui sia necessario o conveniente ridurre l entità degli effetti dovuti all attrito fra le tubazioni e le strutture che ne sostengono il peso. E opportuno precisare innanzitutto che la temperatura dei fluidi convogliati e quindi il valore del salto termico delle tubazioni non ha importanza alcuna per gli effetti dell attrito che nasce in corrispondenza dei supporti, in quanto le forze, che sono la manifestazione di tale fenomeno, non vengono in alcun modo influenzate dall ampiezza dei movimenti relativi fra tubazioni e supporti, siano essi provocati da variazioni termiche che da altre cause. Essendo quindi la sola escursione termica ambientale fra il giorno e la notte sufficiente per fare nascere le forze di attrito in corrispondenza del supporto, non esiste alcuna ragione per considerare le tubazioni funzionanti ad alta o a bassa temperatura in modo diverso da quelle che permangono a temperatura ambiente. I supporti a rullo tipo A e C possono essere convenientemente impiegati per sostenere tubazioni, con diametri compresi fra 140 e e fra 800 e rispettivamente, di cui sia necessario contrastare le spinte orizzontali agenti trasversalmente alle tubazioni stesse, purché dette spinte non superino il 35% dei carichi effettivi sostenuti dai supporti. I supporti a rullo tipo A e C sono quindi in grado di esercitare sulle tubazioni una efficace azione di guida assiale che consente nella maggior parte dei casi di evitare l installazione di rulli di contenimento sui fianchi delle tubazioni stesse. It is important to highlight that the temperature of fluids conveyed and therefore the value of pipes thermal head does not play an important part in the effects of the friction created near the hangers, as the forces, which are the consequence of this phenomenon, are absolutely not influenced by the magnitude of the shifts between pipes and hangers, be they produced by heat changes or other causes. As the environmental temperature range between day and night is enough to produce friction forces near the hanger, there is no reason why pipes operating at high or low temperatures should be considered differently from those operating at room temperature. A and C type roll supports can be used to support pipes with diameters ranging between 140 and and between 800 and respectively, whenever it is necessary to counter horizontal thrusts acting transversally on the pipes, provided that these thrusts do not exceed 35% of the real loads supported by the hangers. This means that A and C type roll supports are capable of exercising an efficient axial guide action on the tubes, which most of the time enables to avoid the installation of containment rolls on the tubes sides. Also B and D type roll supports can be employed to back up tubes with the above-described diameters which need to be shifted horizontally and transversally, provided that the values of these shifts do not exceed 50 for the B type hangers. 110

I supporti tipo D possono invece consentire alle tubazioni degli spostamenti trasversali comunque grandi: normalmente gli appositi fine corsa vengono installati in modo da limitarne il valore a 150. Per tubazioni con diametri inferiori a 200 e con diametri compresi fra 200 e 800, aventi pesi lineari relativamente bassi, possono essere impiegati supporti tipo E e F che hanno caratteristiche analoghe a quelle dei supporti tipo A e C. Infine per tubazioni con diametri compresi fra 100 e 800 che non effettuino spostamenti trasversali possono essere impiegati i supporti tipo G e H; questi ultimi trovano anche una conveniente applicazione come rulli di guida assiale per tubazioni di qualsiasi diametro di cui sia necessario contrastare spinte trasversali superiori al 35% dei carichi; per questo scopo tali supporti vengono installati sui fianchi delle tubazioni con gli assi dei rulli verticali. Per effetto dell attrito, in corrispondenza di ogni supporto, nascono delle forze orizzontali dirette in senso contrario agli spostamenti, denominate forze di attrito; si definiscono coefficienti di attrito dei supporti i rapporti tra le forze di attrito e i carichi sopportati. In dipendenza dagli spostamenti consentiti dai supporti alle tubazioni potranno essere determinati dei coefficienti di attrito assiali e dei coefficienti di attrito trasversali. In tutti i tipi di supporti le sedi principali di attrito sono rappresentate dalle boccole su cui vengono montati i rulli. D type hangers instead enable pipes to make significant transversal shifts: usually the appropriate end of strokes are assembled so as to limit the value to 150. For pipes with diameters smaller than 200, with diameters ranging between 200 and 800 and with relatively low linear weights, it is possible to use E and F type hangers which are quite similar to A and C type hangers. Finally for pipes with diameters ranging from 100 and 800 where there are no transversal shifts, it is possible to employ G and H type hangers. They can also be usefully used as axial guide rolls for pipes with any diameter, requiring to counter transversal shifts exceeding 35% of the loads. These hangers are therefore assembled on the sides of the pipes with the rolls axes in a vertical position. Given the presence of friction, near each hanger there are horizontal forces directed in the opposite direction to the shifts, known as friction forces. Hangers friction coefficients are the ratios between the friction forces and the supported loads. In all hangers types the major friction points are represented by the bushes on which the rolls are assembled. COEFFICIENTI DI ATTRITO Il valore medio del coefficiente di attrito assiale è di 0,035 per tutti i tipi; quello trasversale è di 0,080 per i tipi B e D. FRICTION COEFFICIENTS For all types the average axial friction coefficient value amounts to 0,035; for B and D types the transversal value is 0,

6 ISTRUZIONI DI INSTALLAZIONE I supporti a rullo tipo A, B, C, D e H possono essere collegati alle strutture mediante bullonatura oppure mediante saldatura; per i supporti E, F e C è previsto solamente il collegamento mediante saldatura. Nelle tabelle dimensionali, in corrispondenza delle grandezze dei supporti a rullo, sono riportati i diametri dei bulloni e le dimensioni dei cordoni di saldatura per il collegamento alle strutture. Per tubazioni aventi rapporti fra diametri e spessori relativamente grandi e con pesi lineari notevoli, come ad esempio le tubazioni convoglianti liquidi, occorre controllare che le deformazioni delle sezioni in corrispondenza dei punti di appoggio sui supporti a rullo non siano eccessive. Detto controllo si rende necessario per evitare pericoli di rotture e inoltre, nei casi in cui sono impiegati i supporti a rullo tipo A e B, per evitare un aumento degli attriti per strisciamento in corrispondenza dei punti di contatto fra rulli e tubi. I suddetti inconvenienti possono essere eliminati prevedendo distanze ridotte fra supporti oppure applicando sui tubi opportuni rinforzi in corrispondenza dei punti di appoggio. Nei casi in cui le tubazioni sono rivestite con isolanti termici è necessario prevedere l impiego di apposite selle che hanno le forme rappresentate nelle figure. I carichi massimi aissibili delle selle coincidono con quelli dei rulli e sono determinati in base ad una sollecitazione di 10 kg/ 2, perciò gli effettivi valori dei carichi sopportabili da selle si calcolano con la relazione: P x Sa / 10 in cui: P (kg) = carico di tabella Sa (kg/ 2 ) = sollecitazione aissibile per il materiale della sella alla temperatura di progetto della tubazione I materiali comunemente previsti per la fabbricazione delle selle sono i seguenti: SJR 275 UNI/EN 10025:92 o equivalente Fe 410.1kW UNI/EN CrMo910 UNI/EN X 8 CN 1910 UNI 4047 (AISI 304) UNI 6900:71 Su richiesta possono essere fomite selle in esecuzione normale con lunghezze assiali superiori a 300 e/o adatte per tubazioni con diametri diversi da quelli previsti. Le selle in esecuzione rinforzata da impiegarsi per tubazioni con grossi diametri e/o quando si hanno carichi elevati e le selle previste per essere collegate alle tubazioni mediante bulloni vengono dimensionate e fomite per le specifiche condizioni di impiego in base alle indicazioni del coittente. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS A, B, C, D, H type roll supports can be linked to the structures with bolts or welding. E, F and C types only with welding. The dimensional tables show, in the column with the sizes of roll supports, the diameters of bolts and the size of welding beads for the linkage to the structures. For pipes with relatively big diameters/thicknesses ratios and linear weights, for example pipes transporting liquids, it is necessary to check that the strains of the sections near the supporting points of the roll supports are not excessive. This check is necessary in order to avoid crack dangers and in case A and B type roll supports are employed, to avoid a friction increase due to sliding near the points of contact between rolls and pipes. These problems can be eliminated by reducing the distances between hangers or by assembling on the pipes special reinforcements on the supporting points. Should pipes be lagged with insulating material it is necessary to employ special seating (see picture). The maximum admissible loads of the seating correspond to those of the rolls and are based on a stress of 10/2, hence the real value of the loads bearable by the seating shall be calculated as follows: P x Sa / 10 where: P (kg) = table load Sa (kg/ 2 ) = admissible stress for the seating material at the pipe project temperature The materials usually used to manufacture seating are the following: SJR 275 UNI/EN 10025:92 or equivalent Fe 410.1kW UNI/EN CrMo910 UNI/EN X 8 CN 1910 UNI 4047 (AISI 304) UNI 6900:71 If requested it is possible to supply normal seating with axial lengths over 300 and/or suitable for pipes with diameters other than the projected ones. The strengthened seating for pipes with big diameters and/or when there are big loads and the seating to be connected to the pipes with bolts are sized and supplied for special uses and on the base of the indications given by the client. 112

7 MODALITA DI ORDINAZIONE Per ordinare un supporto a rullo occorre indicare la grandezza, il carico massimo e il tipo di esecuzione. Ad esempio: per ordinare un supporto a rullo brevettato Ca.S.T.Im grandezza 560, carico massimo 4000, tipo A, si può scrivere concisamente: S R 560 A 4000 supporto a rullo grandezza tipo carico Su richiesta possiamo fornire rulli per tubi con diametri e/o carichi verticali diversi da quelli indicati.
