2 A magic world in colour Theodora was founded in Switzerland in 1993 in order to offer practical support to children in hospital and their families. Dottor Sogni are artists with specific training in helping and assisting children in hospital and their families during the difficult time of their recovery. Every week they bring fun and laughter to children in hospital, taking care of the child not only as a patient. 4 Dottor Sogni: professionalism and continuity PROFESSIONALISM PSYCHOLOGICAL Dottor Sogni are professional COUNSELLING artists, specifically trained by the Foundation to work in hospital with children. Each Dottor Sogni r e c e i ves regular training consisting o f a t tendance at two f o u r - d a y seminars each year, The psychological organised by the Foundation in collaboration counselling is done by five with professionals in the fields of art, psychotherapists dedicated to psychology and medicine. each territorial group (Milan, Turin, Bologna, Genoa, Rome) in order to guarantee the quality of the work in the hospital. COACHING AND VISITS The coaching visit involves discussions and the sharing of experiences. Each Dottor Sogni can have at least two coaching visits a year year plus two visits by a colleague Dottor Sogni who can offer help and advice.

5 The Visit Programme Dottor Sogni s first task is to meet the doctors and the nurses in order to learn about every child s current condition; whether they have had an operation, are in therapy or if they must rest.. The Dottor Sogni visits, room by room, every child. Often he/she becomes the children s friend and someone they can confide in, listening to both their fears and desires. Dottor Sogni works in complete harmony with doctors, nurses and volunteers to support the children in hospital in the best way possible

6 The Surgery Programme The Surgery Programme started on July, 2015 with a pilot programme at a pediatric hospital in Milan, l Ospedale dei Bambini Vittore Buzzi di Milano. The programme brings smiles to children in surgical environments. The main goal of this programme is to reduce the stress of the sick children and their families. "This new project gives concrete support to children during all the preparatory stages, assistance to families during surgery and to the child at the moment he/she wakes up, creating a support network and huge confidence. says Sabrine Sofia, Dottoressa Bonsai.

7 Dottor Sogni in hospital

8 Collaboration with hospital staff Dottor Sogni visits are organised in collaboration with the hospitals and the hospital staff. Quality and continuity of the visits are guaranteed and monitored by Theodora. Compliance with the hygiene rules of each ward. Respect for the rules and expertise of the hospital staff. Respect for the privacy of child patients and their families. Periodic meetings between Fondazione Theodora Onlus and hospital staff create opportunities for discussion and improvements to the work of Dottor Sogni. 7
