Ma anche la piccola Montefalco ha messo da anni piede nel mondo dei cavalli con molti allevamenti e gare. Montefalco è una pittoresca città umbra, nel centro Italia, con radici storiche importanti, risalenti al tempo dei Montefalco is an ancient medieval village bording with Foligno, a city with fame in the field of horse breeding and races. 2 SHOWS AND EVENTS Romani. Per la sua posizione dominante sulla vallata fra Spoleto e Perugia ha visto fiorire la propria civiltà, dall XI secolo fino al Rinascimento. Si racconta che Federico II, Imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero e re di Gerusalemme, passò la sua infanzia a Montefalco. Ma non solo l arte, la storia, la cultura e la bellezza delle verdi colline del centro Italia rendono questo luogo piacevole, il territorio di Montefalco fa anche parte dell importante itinerario enogastronomico con la sua Strada del Sagrantino, un percorso naturale per apprezzare uno dei vini più pregiati di questa parte di terra umbra. Immerso in questo ricco ambiente, LE LAME Horse Sporting Club di Montefalco, ha contribuito alla fama di questa piccola città nel mondo dello sport equestre, sia a livello nazionale, sia internazionale. Il centro equestre, che ospita prevalentemente gare importanti di salto a ostacolo, è dotato di ampie strutture, con campi di gara di sabbia francese e 500 box, inoltre possiede le strutture utili per lo sport equestre molto apprezzate dal grande pubblico. Da quattro anni, anche i cavalli arabi hanno trovato qui un giusto ambiente per gli show e i momenti di incontro tra gli amici della razza araba e gli allevatori ANICA. In prima fila nelle competizioni, c è sempre stato lo Show C internazionale dell ECAHO, come anche,riservato ai cavalli delle linee puro Egiziani, l EGYPTIAN EVENT; in questa struttura, inoltre,sono premiati anche gli allevatori con cavalli nati in Italia. Per coinvolgere i giovani e gli allevatori locali, il Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge, sponsorizzato da Al Jassimya Farm (USA), ha premiato cavalli arabi montati, nonché le presentazioni eseguite da non professionisti. L obiettivo di questa iniziativa è quello di trovare nuovi estimatori di cavalli arabi, che imparino, seguendo corsi mirati, a presentare i proprio cavalli sia a mano, sia sotto sella. Queste classi di gare per amatori sono divertenti e offrono l occasione di seguire gare leali e trasparenti molto appassionanti per gli allevatori e i proprietari, senza a creare una concorrenza con gli show dei professionisti dell ECAHO. Gli organizzatori dell Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge sperimentano con varie forme di presentazione, danno premi interessanti ai partecipanti e cercano di stimolare una nuova dinamica, creando degli show indipendenti e creativi per il cavallo arabo. L organizzatore Roberto Ceccaroni e il suo team hanno invitato un gruppo di giudici internazionali per soddisfare tutte le esigenze nelle varie categorie: Mrs. Claudia Darius - Germania, Mrs. Sylvie Eberhardt - Germania, Mr. Hassan Al Mannai - Qatar, Mr. Cristian Moschini - Italia, Mr. Marco Pittaluga - Italia, Mrs. Anna Stojanowska - Polonia. Più di 80 cavalli hanno partecipato alle diverse competizioni. Il caldo straordinario ha solo in parte influenzato la naturale vivacità dei cavalli e del pubblico. Però i due giorni sono stati interessanti e hanno confermato la validità del luogo, ma anche l organizzazione che ha svolto un ottimo lavoro. Arrivederci al 2020! q valley between Spoleto and Perugia Montefalco has seen its civilization flourish starting from the XI century until Renaissance. The story goes that Federico II Emperor of Holy Roman Empire and King of Jerusalem spent his childhood in Montefalco. Not only Art, History, Culture and the Beauty of the green hills in the earth of central Italy make pleasant this place. Montefalco is also part of the food and wine trail called Strada del Sagrantino, a natural path which let people enjoy one of the most appreciated wines produced in this part of the Umbrian land. Totally immerse into this rich environment, LE LAME Horse Sporting Club in Montefalco contributed to the fame of this small town to be spread all over the equestrian sport world, both nationally and internationally. The equestrian centre which expecially hosts important jumping contests, is equipped with spacious structures, French sand show ground and 500 boxes. In addition to that, equestrian sport facilities are available and very appreciated by general public. Arabian horse lovers and ANICA breeders have been founding here for 4 years the right place where meeting each other and showing their Arabian horses. In the first row, regarding competitions, there are always the International ECAHO C Show and the Egyptian Event dedicated to the straight Egyptians, as well as the Trophies for breeders of Arabian horses born in Italy. In order to involve more young people and local breeders the Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge, sponsored by Al Jassimya Farm (USA), has awarded ridden Arabian horses and Arabian horses handled by no professional handlers. The goal of this initiative is finding new Arabian horse lovers who are available to attend targeted training to learn how to show their horses by hand and under saddle. The training classes for amateurs are fun and offer the chance to assist at loyal and transparent contests which are exciting for breeders and owners without creating at the same time competition with professional ECAHO shows. Organizers of the Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge experiment different way of presentation, giving interesting prizes to participants and trying to stimulate a new dynamics starting independent and creative Arabian horse shows. The organizer Roberto Ceccaroni and his staff have invoted a group of international judges to satisfy all category needs: Mrs. Claudia Darius - Germany, Mrs. Sylvie Eberhardt - Germany, Mr. Hassan Al Mannai - Qatar, Mr. Cristian Moschini - Italy, Mr. Marco Pittaluga - Italy, Mrs. Anna Stojanowska - Poland. More than 80 horses participated in different competitions. The extraordinarily warm weather has only partially influenced the natural horse and people vivacity.the two day event was interesting and has confirmed the validity of the place and of the organization which has done an excellent job. 3 INTERVISTA CON ROBERTO CECCARONI - INTERVIEW WITH ROBERTO CECCARONI - INTERVISTA CON ROBERT Tutto Arabi: Lo Show è finito, sei contento del risultato? Roberto Ceccaroni: Sono molto felice di quello che gli ospiti hanno manifestato nei nostri confronti. Sia da parte degli espositori, sia da quella dei giudici e di tutti coloro che hanno partecipato all evento e spero che anche i cavalli si siano trovati bene a Montefalco. Anche la struttura Le Lame ha aiutato molto, sia grazie all ottimo campo di gare con una sabbia elastica che non alza polvere, sia all area dei box dove ogni espositore ha avuto inoltre un suo corridoio da gestire liberamente. TA: Come avete potuto fare crescere questo show negli anni? RC: Lo show è cresciuto d importanza grazie agli espositori, in parte tra i più grandi in Europa, sia grazie ai giudici di importante rilievo che, come in passato, sono venuti e hanno dato allo show la giusta serietà. TA: Quanti cavalli si sono presentati? RC: Degli 85 cavalli registrati se ne sono presentati 80 nel ring dello Show ECAHO. Per l Egyptian Event erano presenti solo pochi cavalli. Pur avendo in Italia un allevamento di Straight Egyptians molto consistente, gli allevatori spesso non cercano la partecipazione agli show. TA: Forse questo dipende anche dal fatto che il cavallo puro Egiziano è amato anche per il buon pedigree, la bella storia degli avi, la reputazione dell allevamento, fattori magari più importanti dei titoli che può dare uno show. RC: Esatto, è sicuramente un mercato parallelo degli show. E sempre bello vedere gli Egiziani negli show, per apprezzare i varie tipi di cavallo arabo, belli e diversi, ma ormai persi morfologicamente e introvabili negli altri show open. TA: C era anche l Italian Breeders Championship. Qual era l obiettivo di questo concorso? RC: E stato un piccolo campionato nel campionato, creato per offrire uno spazio agli allevatori in Italia. Questo è necessario perche abbiamo allevatori del Golfo che hanno ben altri numeri di cavalli per la selezione e per indicare una direzione nuova ai criteri di bellezza, ma sono presenti con i loro cavalli in Toscana, in Umbria o in altri centri internazionali come in Belgio o in Germania. Ovviamente i piccoli allevatori europei non possono competere e trovano invece nella coppa dei allevatori il loro giusto riconoscimento. TA: Comunque gli allevatori del Golfo sono anche utili, perché hanno comprato tanti cavalli qui in Europa e lasciano quindi ancora vivere il mondo dell allevamento, che altrimenti sarebbe ancora di più in crisi. RC: Esatto, motivano e stimolano molto i mercati, però possono competere con gli altri durante lo Show C internazionale ECAHO. TA: Raccontaci qualcosa di Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge. Tutto Arabi: The show s over. Are you satisfied about its result? Roberto Ceccaroni: I am very happy about what our guests - exhibitors, judges and all the people who participated - showed towards us. I hope horses enjoyed Montefalco as well. The equestrian center Le Lame helped us very much thanks both to the great show ground in special sand that doesn t raise dust and to the big box area where every exhibitor had his own corridor to manage freely. TA: How did you grow this show over the years? RC: Thanks to exhibitors, some of them among the most important in Europe. Also thanks to judges of primary importance who came and gave to the show the right reliability. TA: How many horses were here? RC: Of the 85 entered horse 80 were actually present in the ECAHO Show. For the Egyptian Event we had just few horses. In Italy although there are a great straight Egyptian breeding program breeders often don t look for a participation in a show. TA: Maybe because the pure straight Egyptian is loved for its pedigree, for its heritage and the farm reputation more than the titles one can win at a show. RC: Exactly, this is surely a parallel market to the show s one. It is always nice and interesting to see straight Egyptian horses in shows. This can make appreciating several type of horses, beautiful and different from each other. By now they are morphologically lost and unfindable in the open shows. TA: Also the Italian Breeders Championship was hosted. What s the goal of this championship? RC: It was a small championship in the frame of a bigger event, created with the goal to give more importance to breeders in Italy. This is necessary as many breeders from the Gulf have a great number of horses and dictate rules regarding the selection and the beauty trend and they have their horses in Tuscany and Umbria as well as in Belgium and Germany. Obviously small European breeders cannot compete with them and they find in Breeders Championship their right recongnition. TA: Nonetheless breeders from the Gulf are important as they bought many horses in Europe and make the breeding world live. Without them the market would be even more distressed. RC: Exactly they motivate and stimulate the market 172 TUTTO ARABI -

4 O CECCARONI - INTERVISTA CON ROBERTO CECCARONI -INTERVISTA CON ROBERTO CECCARONI - INTERVIST RC: Questa è una nuova avventura per cui non eravamo neanche ben preparati, nonostante io abbia sempre avuto l idea di inserire uno show amatoriale nell ambito dell evento di Montefalco, ma non si riusciva a realizzarlo senza il sostegno di un vero circuito internazionale come questo: l iniziativa aiuterà molto nel futuro gli show in quanto ogni allevatore o proprietario partecipa senza condizioni e vincoli delle spese di un trainer professionista, e senza l obbligo di mandare il cavallo per alcuni mesi di training lontano da casa. Ci sono stati anche dei momenti emozionanti, come quando una bambina di sette anni ha presentato una fattrice comportandosi molto meglio che un giorno prima nello show ECAHO. Questa parte dell avvenimento è stata un successo che ha visto la partecipazionedi circa 30 amatori con cavalli. TA: Come sono andate le classi dei cavalli montati? RC: Purtroppo ci sono stati pochi partecipanti. Per il prossimo anno dobbiamo informare ampiamente prima per dare ai cavalieri la possibilità di preparare i cavalli in tempo. Inoltre siamo stati penalizzati dal grande caldo, che ci ha costretto a modificare anche gli orari di presentazione. TA: Forse bisogna anche dare un sostegno finanziario ai cavalli, come per esempio dare il trasporto gratis. Perché i cavalli sono i veri attori dello spettacolo, in fondo sembra strano che debbano pure pagare per la loro presentazione. RC: Quest anno, grazie al contributo di Al Jassimya, non hanno dovuto pagare il box e si sta ragionando, per il prossimo anno, che almeno i cavalli e i cavalieri umbri possano usufruire del trasporto gratis. TA: Mancava però il grande pubblico RC: Questo è vero. Oltre agli espositori, agli addetti ai lavori e ai proprietari, sono stati in pochi a cercare nello show il divertimento e lo spettacolo del weekend. Ci dovremmo lavorare per migliorare l informazione dell evento e inventare altre iniziative popolari a esso legate, al fine di coinvolgere un pubblico più ampio. TA: Il Live Stream toglie ovviamente pubblico, specialmente quando fuori ci sono 38 gradi, si preferisce vedere lo show a casa dal monitor. RC: Sì, questo potrebbe essere vero per gli interessati regionali, però il live stream porta l evento a livelli internazionali e determinati sponsor chiedono una visibilità di questo tipo. Arabian Essence ha fatto un gran lavoro con la trasmissione dello show in streaming e con la condivisione dei risultati online. Molti espositori chiedono il live stream per rendere possibile al loro campione di essere conosciuto nel mondo globale degli show arabi, anche se partecipa a questo di Montefalco, un paese di soltanto 6000 abitanti, ma ormai entrato nel circuito degli show italiani importanti. TA: Roberto, ti ringraziamo per l intervista! but they also can compete in International ECAHO C Show with others. Tutto Arabi: Tell us something about the Al Jassimya Amateur Challenge. Roberto Ceccaroni: This is a new challenge which we were not well prepared for, although I have always had the idea to add an amateur show inside the frame of Montefalco event. It would be not possible without the support of an international network like this: this venture will help shows as every breeders and owners will be able to participate without conditions regarding expenses for a professional trainer and without the duty to send the horse for training for months far from home. One of the most thrilling moments was when a 7 year old girl showed her mare better than a day before at the ECAHO show. The Amateur Callenge was a success and was attended by 30 amateurs with their horses. TA: What about the ridden classes? RC: Unfortunately there were just few participants. Next year we will have to inform in advance in order to give time enough to prepare horses properly. In addition we were penalized by the hot weather which forced us to change the schedule as well. TA Maybe one should give a support like free transport of horses. Because horses are the real protagonists of the show. It seems to be odd they have to pay to be showed. RC: This year thanks to the contribute of Al Jassimya they didn t pay boxes and we are thinking about free transport at least for horses from Umbria. TA: Just the great audience was missing... RC: This is true. In addition to exhibitors, technicals and owners just few people enjoyed the show during the weekend for fun or relaxation. We should improve the communication of the event and add some other initiatives in order to involve more people. TA: The Live Streaming steals audience. Especially when outside it s 38 C/100 F one can prefer to watch the show in streaming. RC: Yes this could be true for local audience. But live streaming brings the event to the international audience and some sponsors ask for this type of visibility. Arabian Essence did a great job with the streaming of the show and online results. Many exhibitors ask for livestream to give more relevance to their champion worldwide and in Arab countries even if they participate in this show in Montefalco, just 6000 inhabitants but very important in the Italian show network.
