Question 9 (9 marks) Volete preparare vostra figlia per il mondo del lavoro? Datele meno paghetta che a vostro figlio! Marisa, trentenne, donna in carriera. Lavora in un settore tipicamente maschile: fa il pilota. Anche Bruno, il suo collega, è pilota. Entrambi sono ugualmente competenti. Ma hanno lo stesso stipendio? E quando invecchieranno, avranno la stessa pensione? Magari! Oggigiorno il livello di formazione delle donne e degli uomini tende alla parità e la partecipazione delle donne alla vita professionale è aumentata in maniera considerevole. È vero, abbiamo fatto tanta strada nel ridurre la disparità tra uomo e donna nell ambito del lavoro, ma non basta. Sono padre di due bimbe e di un ragazzino e devo ammettere che la possibilità che le mie due figlie non possano avere le stesse opportunità del loro fratello nel campo lavorativo mi preoccupa parecchio. Questa è una discussione che l Italia deve fare. Mettiamo a fuoco la realtà della situazione. Secondo le statistiche della Commissione europea, un uomo guadagna in media circa il 16,4 % in più all ora di una donna. Le donne non ricevono lo stesso riconoscimento e non hanno le stesse opportunità anche quando le loro qualifiche sono identiche a quelle dei loro colleghi maschi. E c è anche un altro problema. Siccome la carriera delle donne è molto più lenta, quando si ritirano dall impiego le loro pensioni sono ridotte e tra gli anziani ci sono più donne in stato di povertà rispetto agli uomini. Quindi, la parità dei sessi nel lavoro non è solo una questione di diritti, ma è soprattutto una questione economica. La mia speranza per l Italia è che quando i miei figli saranno pronti ad entrare nel mercato del lavoro non ci sarà più bisogno di questo genere di articolo. ERASMO LIVI

8 Question 10 (16 marks) Rispondiamo agli esperti Eccovi due lettere scelte perché riflettono le differenze di opinione sul tema dell invasività delle lingue straniere nell italiano moderno. Questo è stato il tema dell intervista di venerdì scorso al dott. Paolo Arrigoni, esperto di lingua e giornalista e al professor Adriano Guerra, docente di Linguistica Italiana. Queste lettere, però, evidenziano anche altre connotazioni sottintese che non hanno niente a che fare con la lingua. Egregio direttore, La ringrazio per l interessantissima intervista sull uso, o direi l abuso, delle lingue straniere, in particolare dell inglese nei media italiani. Devo ammettere che, leggere un giornale italiano o ascoltare un intervista radiofonica al giorno d oggi non è per niente un esperienza allettante, anzi. Perciò è stato un piacere ascoltare un esperto che la pensa come me. Il professor Guerra ha espresso la sua opinione dicendo che non è necessario usare un modello inglese per rendere l italiano più moderno. Anch io penso che la lingua italiana, usata bene, abbia in sé le possibilità e i mezzi di soddisfare le esigenze della comunicazione moderna. Inoltre, secondo me, le persone che trovano necessario usare l inglese hanno in genere una conoscenza mediocre della propria lingua e credono di risolvere quasi tutto in questo modo. Si sbagliano! E il professore condivide questa mia opinione. Concludo dicendo che l Italia in questo momento sta soffrendo per via di un altro tipo di invasione, cioè, una vera invasione culturale che minaccia di cambiare per sempre la nostra identità! Almeno teniamoci la nostra lingua! Riccardo Rossi Caro signor direttore, C è bisogno di usare l inglese quando ci si deve esprimere in un modo sintetizzato e spiccio, come quando si fa il giornalismo televisivo o radiofonico? È ovvio che la risposta non pùo essere che sì! L inglese non solo aiuta a risparmiare tempo (tempo = soldi), ma usando i termini stranieri è possibile spiegarsi meglio, dare altre opzioni e così diventa più facile trasmettere il messaggio con più immediatezza. Qui non si parla di inquinare l italiano, ma di migliorarlo, di renderlo più flessibile, più utilizzabile. L italiano non può rimanere statico e ignorare culture che fanno parte della vita di tutti (qui si parla dell immigrazione). Non ci dobbiamo offendere se notiamo che una persona di un altra cultura preferisce usare un termine familiare alla sua lingua invece dell equivalente italiano. Bisogna avere una mente aperta nel ventunesimo secolo se vogliamo mantenere un certo livello di comunicazione globale! Luisa Ferventi 8
