Se l'arte è la libertà di dare nuovi significati alle cose esistenti, la Biennale di Venezia è il contesto migliore per presentare The New Matter for Architecture. Nato da un materiale antico, il vetro, questo nuovo rivestimento ad alto contenuto tecnologico, trasforma la superficie in un supporto ideale per la libertà del progettista. Le infinite possibilità di personalizzazione, nei soggetti, nei formati e nelle finiture, cosi come le prestazioni tecniche e funzionali, lo rendono materia plastica, versatile al punto da mettere in crisi le consuete categorie. THE COMPANY Crystalexe was founded in 2005 with the goal of transforming an ancient material, glass, into an innovative product with hi-tech and aesthetic features. Originator of the idea was Caterina Taschin, who drew inspiration from her roots in Venice, where glass has been the key material used in art and architecture since antiquity. After ten years of research and experimentation Crystalexe achieved its objective, resulting in The New Matter For Architecture, a material distinctive in its functionality that extends to any type of space or surface. The Crystalexe factory is located in the Ticino canton of Switzerland and was built respecting the environment and the surrounding area and considering the company vision that places value on human input and the technical training of its staff. The production process is completely ecological both as regards the materials utilised and the transfer of colours, which is performed using a system with low temperatures and having no environmental impact. crystalexe.ch

Portal. Gate to the Orient, 2017. Covering made of The New Matter for Architecture by Crystalexe. Symbol of triumphal access and double-sided, the portal represents the union of the two worlds that come together in Venice. In the shared form of the portal, East and West touch and partially fuse, each preserving its own specific horizon. Simbolo dell accesso trionfale e bifronte, il portale rappresenta l unione dei due mondi che trovano in Venezia una linea d incontro. Nella forma condivisa del portale, Oriente e Occidente si toccano e in parte si contaminano, conservando ciascuno un proprio specifico orizzonte. Marco Nereo Rotelli was born in Venice in 1955, where he graduated in architecture in 1982. His works of art are in important museums and private collections all over the world. Important art critics, as well as poets, writers, philosophers and international cultural celebrities have written about him, increasing an important bibliographic collection on his work.
