2 Non c è più l autunno di una volta. E neanche l inverno di una volta esiste ancora. Le stagioni che sembravano avere confini ben precisi e date fissate eternamente sui calendari hanno lasciato il posto al fluire del tempo, dove tutto diventa più sfumato, più morbido. Una volta l autunno era marrone e l inverno grigio scuro. Oggi la palette dei colori possibili si è arricchita di toni e sfumature, anche grazie alla instancabile ricerca di Society. La nuova collezione Autunno/Inverno 2013/2014 firmata Society porta con sé colori per cui non esistono ancora nomi adatti a descriverli. In quanti modi si può dire grigio? È più un color Mustard o un Gold, quel giallo che non è un semplice giallo? Quanti riflessi può avere il color petrolio? Incrociate queste possibilità con il cotone tubico, il cotone Kur o il ramié (un antichissima fibra naturale) e iniziate a giocare. A casa vostra, magari, seduti comodamente davanti a una fumante tazza di tè. Fall is not the same anymore. And even the old-time Winters don t exist anymore. The old seasonswhich used to have well defined borders and dates eternally fixed on the calendars have left their place to the flowing time, where everything seems unfocused and softened. Fall used to be brown and Winter used to be dark grey. Today, the feasible colour palette has enriched itself with new shades and tones. Thanks also to the tireless research made by Society. The new 2013/2014 Fall/Winter collection by Society brings new shades and tones that still have no names that can describe them. In how many ways can you say grey? Is that yellow, not-just-a-simple-yellow, more Mustard colour or Gold? How many shades can a petroleum colour have? Cross breed these many options with double layer cotton, Kur cotton or ramie (an ancient natural fibre). And you can really start playing, right in your home. Maybe comfortably sitting in front of a nice cup of hot tea. 1

Il colore qui è al servizio della materia: neutro e neutrale insieme, per far risaltare superfici, trame e orditi di lenzuola, copripiumini e federe. Il cotone tubico, usato per la prima volta in camera da letto alternando tinte unite e righe, è il risultato di una tecnica elaborata che sovrappone e lega insieme due strati di tessuto, creando all interno un sottile spazio vuoto che trattiene il calore e si adatta al microclima del nostro riposo. This is the case where colour is at the service of matter: neutral by vocation, making the surfaces, the weave of the sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases, stand out. The double layer cotton, makes its first entry in the bedroom, alternating solid colours to stripes. Teli e accappatoi in cotone Kur, leggeri, con finissima trama double face, si accompagnano ad asciugamaniin lino liscio, lino a nido d ape, spugna di lino o di cotone, cotone plissettato o plissé sposato alla spugna. Personalissima e per niente neutra è la scelta tra tutte le possibili combinazioni fra materia e colore, compresa l ultima, la più radicale: Perché dover scegliere?. Towels and robes in Kur cotton, very light, with a very fine double face weave are matched to smooth linen hand towels, honeycomb linen, linen or cotton terry cloth, pleated or plissé cotton coupled with a terry cloth. Very personal and not at all neutral, is the choice between all the possible combinations of colour and materials. Including the last and most extreme of all: Do we really have to choose? 6 7

The same identical light of a Vermeer painting has just touched the table, giving an inimitable colour to table-cloths, napkins and runners. The tones and prints bring to mind the ones used for painting the bedroom. Ecco i colori che sfumano dolcemente nella notte, da cui sono divisi solo da un rapido battito di ciglia. Anche i loro nomi (Petrolio, Berillo, Ottano) sembrano rimandare alle buie profondità della Terra. Fuori può anche infuriare il vento, la pioggia può riversarsi con forza sulle città e sulle case, ma l amica Oscurità ci avvolge fra le sue braccia, morbide come il cotone. These are the colours that gently fade into the night. Just separated from the dark by a slight blink of the eye. Also their names (Petroleum, Beryl, Octane) remind us of the dark depths of the Earth. Outside the stormy wind can be very angry, and the rain pour hard over the city and houses, but our friend Darkness will cuddle us in her arms, soft as cotton

C è in qualche modo anche una voglia di sole. Una voglia diversa da quella vivace della primavera o da quella violenta dell estate, temperata da un cielo attraversato dalle nubi. Se è verde, quello che ci conquista è un verde spento. Se è giallo, è qualcosa che si avvicina al color della senape o a del fieno appena tagliato. Se è oro, è oro antico, levigato dal tempo e dall uso. Visto da qui, il tramonto non è mai stato così dolce. In a certain way we feel a crave for some sun. Quite different from the lively desire of Spring or the strong Summer one. Mitigated by the clouds, scattered in the sky. If green catches our spirit, then it s a listless green. If it s yellow, it will be close to a mustard colour or to the freshly cut hay. If it s gold, it s an antique gold, used and polished by the passing years. Si avvicinano ai colori dell incarnato e ne imitano le sfumature. E al tempo stesso ci ricordano, senza ombra di dubbio, un materiale come l argilla: una terra morbida e compatta, antica amica dell uomo. Questa è forse la palette più delicata dell intera collezione Autunno/Inverno Society. Dove ogni accostamento gioca su differenze sottili e su contrasti quasi inavvertiti. Ogni scelta, qui, è anche una rinuncia. Very close to the colour of skin, imitating its different nuances. But at the same time they definitely remind us of an earthly material like clay: soft, compact. An ancient friend of human beings. This is probably the most delicate palette of the whole Society Fall/Winter collection. Every colour combination is made of slight differences and almost imperceptible contrasts. Every choice is almost a self-denial

14 Lavanda, violetta. Riscopriamo fiori (e colori) dai nomi e dai profumi ottocenteschi. C è qui un desiderio di Natura vissuta anche in mezzo al freddo e alla neve che cade. E c è anche un po di coraggio, nel fare scelte più decise e meno consuete. Infine, i colori della cenere e della polvere. Un inno in lode al passare del tempo. Lavender, violet. Let s rediscover flowers (and colours) with names and scents dating back to the 1800 s. Here we find a desire of Nature to be experienced in the cold and flaking snow. And a bit of courage too: the courage of picking strong and unusual colours, like cinder and dusty grey.
