If a serious long-term relationship is implied, they often use fidanzato/a, whether or not they are officially engaged. Adults might use the word compagno/a or the English word il/la partner to talk about a long-term relationship. Engagements tend to be very long, as young people are waiting until their late twenties or thirties to get married. Dopo guardare G.
