Grazie alla Madre Maria Moryl e alle mie care consorelle sparse in tutto il mondo, in particolare alle sorelle della mia comunità qui a Roma. Che siete state vicino a me tutto il tempo della mia malattia misteriosa e a durata di lungo tempo. Sono sicura che per le vostre insistenti e incessanti preghiere Dio ha fatto in me grandi cose. Voglio ringraziare i medici e gli infermieri, fisioterapisti e tutti quelli che mi hanno curato nell ospedale. Un pensiero di riconoscenza va anche a tutti quelli che mi hanno seguito in tanti modi, anche da lontano nell adempiere la santa volontà di Dio con gioia e serenità: i miei familiari, missionari, amici, conoscenti, i nostri benefattori, ecc. Da parte mia anch io ho pregato per voi. Il Signore Vi ricompensi!!!. Io continuerò a pregare per voi. Anche voi continuate pregare per me, così saremo vicini e uniti nello spirito di famiglia. Ancora una volta Grazie, Grazie, Grazie.. Unita nella preghiera Sr. Santha Dear Tra Noi, We are glad to share some news from St Paul community. It is good to begin to share about our guided Ignatian retreat which we had in St Paul from March 20 th to 28 th. It was Fr. James Kubicki S J, who led us. Thanks to Sr. Genevieve who found such a good and busy Priest to give us a retreat. We were in total 12 sisters, some from the community of Chesterfield and Toronto. As usual we had each day 3 meditation, before each meditation Father was giving us 30 minute of Conference to help us to enter into different aspects of the life of Jesus. Father has also shared his own life s situations where he could experience God s love 1
and care for him. The prayer which he repeated often was Lord Jesus help us to know you more clearly, love you more dearly and follow you more nearly (closely), in this short prayer indeed we can sum up the whole purpose of our own life s existence. He also encouraged us to enter into the person of Jesus himself through Scripture reading in order to understand what did moved Jesus to perform such an action? What emotions did He went through when he saw suffering and poor people?... Father fed us spiritually with beautiful deep insights to grow in our spiritual life while Sr. Genevieve fed us with nutritious and delicious food. We thank her for having done such a great sacrifice for us. After the retreat we had few groups of girls from different schools to learn about our way of life, our charism and also to visit our Museum. All of them were really impressed at the end of their visit with us, and later they wrote and send their experience of being in the Convent for half of the day. Here are some of their experiences in their own words. When the girls in my class and I visited the Convent of St. Peter Claver we were impressed and in awe of what the sisters there do. The convent was a lot more interesting than I expected. I had a wonderful experience and I would love to visit the convent again. And who knows what God has planned for me. I might even be living in a convent one day and other fourteen year old girls will visit me. We were also invited by different Parishes to talk about our apostolate and to share our vocation discernment story. In one of the parishes it was organized by Sera Club for the families of candidates for Confirmation. There were present 12 sisters from different religious congregations. We began with a prayer and then, each sister was invited to go and join one table with a family. As we are from different countries, they had many questions about family life in different cultures. And then we shared about our congregation and our religious life. At the end of the meeting, we could meet personally each family and distribute our materials. In another parish the diocese organized Mother & Daughter Tea. The participants were only mothers and daughters, they were about 70 of them. We could see only women, no man was around not even the Pastor. And they mentioned that the only male present there was a 6 weeks old baby boy. For the first time they invited the religious sisters. And the theme that was given to us was Listening and following God s call. And both of us (Sr. Jackie & Sr. Aruna) talked of our own vocation story and the role of a mother in our own life, helping us to follow God s call. Later there were few girls who spoke about the beauty of being a woman and on Modesty. It was really interesting to listen to them. Another beautiful experience we had was in another Diocese, called La Crosse. We started on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon on the lovely and peaceful drive, after one and half hour, we reached St. Bede Monastery (Sisters of St. Benedict) in Eau Clare, WI, where we stayed overnight for couple of days while we were visiting different schools. When we reached the Monastery, Sr. Ruth, OSB welcomed us and showed us the retreat center. Some other sisters from different Religious communities, who came for this event also were there. And later we joined them in prayers and meals. The Vocation Fair, organized on the diocesan level, to encourage men and women to answer God s call and dedicate their lives to the service of the missionary Church. There were present 11 religious congregations, diocesan priests, a 2
consecrated virgin, and a married couple, presenting different states of vocation in the Church. Most of the sisters were in lay dress, and so, many girls expressed their joy and interest to see sisters for the first time in a habit. For three days we had a busy schedule from 7am to 3pm. Each day we had one school and in all three, there was a set up for each congregation to put the display about our Congregation and apostolate and to distribute the materials. The students during their time of Religion class divided in groups, going around and to ask questions about religious life, about our vocation, how to deepen the love for Christ, etc. The first day we met about 180 students from 5 th grade to Senior High. Before they came to us, Father Justine, the chaplain of the School, gave them brief talk to explain to them what is all about the Vocation Fair. After two sessions, we had Holy Mass with all the students and teachers. At lunch time, we had a Holy Hour with Blessed Sacrament exposed. There were 2 periods for lunch, so students could come to adore Jesus at any time they wish during their lunch time. It was nice to see many young people kneeling and praying before the Blessed Sacrament. We finished at 3pm, returned to the Monastery and followed the schedule of the OSB sisters. The next day after the breakfast, we said goodbye to the sisters for we went to another school. With grateful hearts we left the monastery. The second day: the school where we were was a big school. They were about 400 students from 6 th grade to Senior High. We followed the previous day s schedule. There were bigger groups each time. And each time when they come we had to tell them again and again our apostolate and answer their many questions. And the third day we were at another high school. There were about 360 students, and from this school each year there are vocations to the priesthood and to religious life. They were from 8 th grade to seniors, and had really interesting questions such as: being missionary without going to mission countries. While we were talking about our Charism to a group of girls, one photographer was taking continuously photos, and we were little bit disturbed for we didn t know who the man was, but when the girls left he introduced himself as reporter of the local catholic newspaper and was interested to hear our talk. Altogether this was something different experience for us, coming from different countries, to see how the schools here in America, totally different from our own countries. We also had opportunity to be with the handicapped for their annual retreat which was organized by our Archdiocese. The participants were 25 and some volunteers who were assisting the handicapped in their needs. We had an hour in which we taught them some action songs and they were really happy that they could do something amazing with their voices. Later the volunteers told us that they had a very sad boy in the group, and they tried from the morning to make him smile, but it was of no use. They noticed that when we took him and brought to the stage to sing and make some actions, he started not only to smile but to laugh. And one of the volunteers took the photo exactly when he was laughing. They all thanked us for being there, and said that the sisters always know how to make others happy. We thanked God for helping us to give what we have received from Him to these children to make them happy. It was really wonderful to be with them in those few but beautiful moments. On the 26 th of April we celebrated the feast of Our Lady Mother of Good Counsel, having a solemn Mass with bishop and very few friends. It was a really family spirit and we all felt united around our Lady and our Mother Foundress. Today we had 2 sisters with 3 girls discerning a religious vocation. We were very happy to have them and to share our apostolate and charism with them. Who knows, if one day one of them will not join us? We do our part and the Lord will take care of the rest. At the end we would like to thank Sr. Genevieve who is encouraging us so much to take part in such events. As you can see, we keep busy here, and praise the Lord. We hope and 3
pray that these meetings as well as those in the future may bring forth good fruits for our Institute and for the entire Church. Sr. Anna & Sr. Aruna Ringraziamento Carissime Consorelle, E la prima volta, se mi ricordo, che io scrivo per il TRA NOI. Sono timida e come la violetta mi nascondo non per paura, ma per stare con LUI. Infatti, Egli mi ha dato la vita per testimoniare che io sono proprietà sua e un giorno ritornerò alla mia sorgente beata. Alla fine del mese di Agosto u.s. ho sentito il desiderio di chiedere alla Madre, in occasione del mio 50.mo anno di Professione Religiosa, di venire a "Roma" e fare lì, il mese di Esercizi Ignaziani. Con esultanza ho accolto questa grazia; e oggi sono felicissima dell esperienza fatta. Ho potuto costatare con più chiarezza, dopo tutti questi anni, che vale la pena innamorarsi di Gesù alimentandomi alla Sua Parola e agli esempi della sua vita sin dalla sua nascita all Ascensione e ora all Eucaristia come alimento santificante dell esistenza umana per mantenere l unione con LUI e scoprire così il suo infinito amore,la sua presenza in ogni fratello, sorella e negli avvenimenti quotidiani. Accolgo questa opportunità per ringraziare, di cuore, la Madre per il suo permesso di venire alla comunità di Roma. Per me è stato un conforto vedere tante giovani sorelle piene di vita, di gioia, di entusiasmo e tutte impegnate nello studio teologico e formazione religiosa. Che il Signore continui a benedirci, nel futuro, con tante altre! Ringrazio la cara comunità di Trento che mi ha accolto con affetto fraterno, mi ha dato il cibo materiale perché io potessi fare bene il mese di Esercizi Spirituali, come pure per le preghiere delle consorelle che mi hanno accompagnato in questi giorni di grazia. Il Padre gesuita che ha guidato i miei esercizi, a Trento, ha voluto finirli con una messa comunitaria, nella nostra cappella, tutta speciale. Ringrazio la mia comunità di Montevideo per aver dato continuazione al mio lavoro, particolarmente a Sr. Benilde che mi ha sostituito, nel frattempo. Il giorno della celebrazione giubilare è stato splendido! Tutte hanno gioito con me ed io con Loro, nella nostra amata casa Madre. Veramente è stato un giorno grande di grazia. Il Padre, nella sua omelia, ha parlato molto bene. Io però non ho scritto nulla. Mi ricordo soltanto questo: il Signore normalmente si serve dei piccoli per fare opere grandi. Nel momento della santa Comunione, lui ha dato, soltanto a me, la comunione sotto le due specie. A dire sinceramente, io ho vissuto giorni indimenticabili per il resto della mia vita, me ne restano ormai pochi! Tutti, però siano a maggiore Gloria di Dio nel tempo e per l eternità. Infine desidero ringraziare, sentitamente, tutte le consorelle che si sono ricordato di me e mi hanno scritto inviandomi i loro Auguri fraterni. Carissime consorelle, Tramite il nostro Caro Tra Noi desidero ringraziarvi per le vostre preghiere e gli auguri per il mio giubileo. Era un giorno come tanti altri, ma mi ha fatto lodare il Signore in modo speciale per tutte le grazie che mi ha concesso generosamente in questi 25 anni della vita consacrata. Mi ha fatto rimanere fedele a Lui nell Istituto delle Suore missionarie di San Pietro Claver. Ringrazio di cuore tutti coloro che mi hanno aiutato e hanno camminato insieme con me nella gioia e nel dolore. Grazie per le bellissime cartoline! Sono molto contenta e grata che mi avete ricordato nel giorno del mio giubileo. Ringrazio ogni consorella che ho avuto la grazia di conoscere personalmente e per quelle che conosco da lontano. Il Signore Gesù e il nostro Sposo fedele ricompensi ciascuna di voi con la sua benedizione e con le sue grazie per l amore fraterno verso di me e per le preghiere. La 4

Con amore fraterno Sr.M.Pushpam Kunjappu Ultime memorie di Madre Immacolata Il 7 aprile, dopo la santa Messa, Madre Immacolata desiderava confessarsi come era solito fare ogni 15 giorni. Così io la accompagnavo, come sempre, alla stanza d'ingresso vicina alla cappella. Quel giorno, prima di arrivare a sedersi si svincolò dal mio braccio e cadde. Il cappellano ed io la alzammo, la facemmo sedere in una sedia, e subito lei disse: ho fratturato il fianco. Ciononostante si confessò. Sr. Celina, per caso, non si era alzata; stava poco bene. Chiamai, quindi, il servizio urgenze della casa di salute PAMI dove la Madre e alcune di noi siamo inscritte. Arrivò l ambulanza. La dottoressa vedendola dichiarò: è necessario portarla con noi. Per oltre mezz ora tentò di trovare un ospedale comunale che la potesse accettare. Finalmente la portarono al Güemes. In questo ospedale, non dovevamo pagare nulla sia per il ricovero sia per le medicine, poiché siamo inscritte nel PAMI. La Madre è stata seguita con molta attenzione e delicatezza sia dai medici sia dalle infermiere. Durante tutto il tempo che fu ricoverata, Sr. Celina rimase con lei 5 notti, io invece andavo ogni giorno per tutta la mattinata o nel pomeriggio dandomi il turno con una signora. Per tutte le altre notti alcune signore, nostre conoscenti, si davano il cambio poiché non la si poteva lasciare da sola. Spesso mi diceva: Portami a casa, io non desidero stare qui. In uno degli ultimi giorni mi disse:- Non desidero tornare a casa. Meravigliata per una tale affermazione le chiesi: Desidera restare qui? E lei:- Desidero andare da Gesù. Il 25 aprile disse: Non ne posso più; già mi resta poco. Una volta parlando le domandai: Chi è rimasta con lei durante la notte?- Non lo so. E questa mattina? - Non lo so. Allora io le dissi: questa mattina è stata Gonzaga. Lei mi guardò sorridente dicendo: Che gentile!. A volte delirava, chiamava la sua mamma a voce alta. Un giorno, prima di congedarmi da lei, le chiesi di dormire e stare quieta. Lei accennò con la testa; però continuò a chiamare la mamma. Invece, un altra volta, chiamava Maria (la signora che era rimasta la notte con lei). Ascoltandola, io le dissi: Se chiama Maria, per starle vicina, allora, che faccio io qui? Lei subito si corresse; sorridendo e cantando mi chiamava: Maria Gonzaga, Maria Gonzaga. Il giorno dopo essere stata ricoverata il nostro cappellano, P. Claudio, andò ad amministrale il Sacramento dell Unzione e mi diede il permesso di portarle la santa Comunione. Il giorno 26 mi domandò: Questa è l ultima?. Il 27 andò il P. Claudio a portarle Gesù. Egli rimase circa un ora con lei in un profondo colloquio. Sembrava un figlio a confortare la Madre sua. Il giorno seguente, portai la santa comunione, però non potette riceverla. Il suo stato era grave e lei stava sotto l effetto dei calmanti morfina-. Allora io dicevo delle giaculatorie e lei muoveva appena le labbra. Le dissi: Se mi ascolta, guardami. Sforzandosi aprì gli occhi. La lasciai addormentata e ritornai a casa, con Imelda, sua cognata. Più tardi l infermiera ci informò che si era svegliata e diceva ad alta voce: Gesù, portami da Te. Maria, Madre mia vieni a prendermi. Offro la mia vita per la pace del Mondo, per l Istituto, per le anime. Gesù, Maria, Giuseppe. Sacro Cuore di Gesù in Te confido. Maria portami da Gesù ecc. Il 29 aprile, alle ore 0.33minuti, ha lasciato questo mondo seguendo il Creatore che la chiamava per il suo Regno eterno. L infermiera notturna ci informò e immediatamente Sr. Celina e io andammo al Sanatorio. Verso le 07.20 la portarono a casa. Alle 08.00 P. Claudio celebrò la Messa davanti alla salma. Per tutta la mattina vennero molte persone amiche e conoscenti e pregavano continuamente un rosario dopo altro. Verso le 14.00 la accompagnammo alla sua ultima dimora terrena. Lei aveva finito di soffrire in questo mondo, e attraversava il ponte che ci separa dal tempo alla eternità. Che il Signore la ricompensi abbondantemente tutto quanto ha fatto per l Istituto, per tutte e per ognuna di noi. Sr. Gonzaga 5
