ITALIANO NOTE INFORMATIVE GENERALI GUIDA AL BLACKBERRY L'APN (Access Point Node) e' un gateway attraverso il quale passa la connessione dati. In base al nome del gateway i gestori telefonici stabiliscono le varie tipologie di servizi dati e le relative tariffazioni. Ad esempio: l'apn per inviare/ricevere gli MMS e' mms.vodafone.it (Vodafone), mms.tim.it (TIM), mms.wind (Wind) oppure l'apn per navigare su internet (traffico GPRS) e' internet.wind (Wind), web.omnitel.it (Vodafone), ibox.tim.it (TIM). L'APN "blackberry.net" e' quello utilizzato dal servizio BlackBerry e vale per tutti gli operatori mobili. L APN 'blackberry.net non va configurato da nessuna parte. Non e' necessario specificare questa APN nelle impostazioni del proprio telefono in quanto le configurazioni per utilizzarla sono presenti all'interno dei "dati di configurazione" del telefono BlackBerry. Per chi utilizza il servizio BIS - BlackBerry Internet Service - e' necessario che il proprio gestore telefonico vi abbia configurato correttamente i servizi per la navigazione internet con il Browser BlackBerry. Per verificarlo andate in opzioni->opzioni avanzate->browser e controllare che tra le varie voci disponibili vi sia "browser internet" Se manca la voce "Browser Internet" allora dovete contattare il vostro gestore telefonico e richiedere l'invio/configurazione dei dati di configurazione per il browser BlackBerry. A questo punto i programmi che sono in grado di sfruttare l'apn "blackberry.net" riusciranno a connettersi a internet. Per chi utilizza il servizio BES - BlackBerry Enterprise Server - aziendale e' possibile che i programmi di terze parti siano in grado di sfruttare l'apn "blackberry.net" attraverso i dati di configurazione del "BlackBerry Browser" che corrisponde appunto al servizio di navigazione, e quindi di connessione alla rete internet, resa disponibile dal vostro server BES in azienda. Se ancora questo non avviene potete comunque richiedere al vostro gestore telefonico l'invio dei dati di configurazione del browser BlackBerry degli utenti BIS: servizio che nel gergo di alcuni operatori viene denominato "prosumer" per differenzarlo da quello "enterprise" degli utenti BES. In ultimo, se nelle opzioni del vostro browser dovesse mancare la voce "BlackBerry Browser" e' possibile che il vostro amministratore IT abbia impostato una regola che vi disabilita la navigazione internet con il browser BlackBerry. 2
APPLICAZIONI DI TERZE PARTI E necessario impostare l'apn di navigazione internet del proprio operatore mobile per tutti quei programmi/applicazioni che non prevedono la possibilità di appoggiarsi all'apn "blackberry.net". E' bene controllare nel proprio contratto se l'apn che impostiamo prevede una tariffa flat perché in caso contrario il traffico viene conteggiato in KB scaricati. Di seguito le istruzioni per effettuare la configurazione e l attivazione dell APN per la versione sopra indicata: Premere il pulsante Blackberry ed entrare nel menù principale Entrare nel sotto menù Opzioni (Options) Selezionare il sotto menù Opzioni avanzate (Advanced Options) Selezionare il sotto menù TCP/IP Attivare l APN a cui ci si vuole collegare Inserire il nome dell APN a cui ci si vuole collegare Opzionale: Attivare la modalità autenticata e inserire le credenziali di accesso qualora l APN lo richiedesse 3
NOTE GENERICHE PRIMA DI AGGIUNGERE UN APN Lasciando il campo APN vuoto nelle impostazioni del proprio BlackBerry l'unica APN disponibile per la connessione dati e' "blackberry.net" prevista dal servizio BIS/BES. Se non si riceve un errore del tipo "errore di connessione", "errore di rete", ecc. allora significa che il programma sta utilizzando la connessione su APN "blackberry.net". Se invece si ottiene un "errore di connessione" allora l'unica possibilità e' impostare un APN di navigazione internet nelle impostazioni del BlackBerry e verificare se si riesce a connettersi a internet. Attenzione che per le APN differenti da "blackberry.net" il traffico GPRS può essere conteggiato in KB e il costo può essere elevato. Vale la pena di sottoscrivere, nel caso sia previsto, un contratto che preveda una tariffa flat mensile per l'apn di navigazione che si e' impostato. Tutte le applicazioni che già troviamo installate sul nostro palmare quando lo togliamo dalla scatola e lo accendiamo per la prima volta sono in grado di utilizzare l'apn "blackberry.net" ammesso che abbiamo attivato un servizio BlackBerry (BIS o BES) sulla propria scheda SIM. Un esempio di applicazioni native sono la posta elettronica, BlackBerry Maps o Mappe BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger (chat), i client di social network sviluppati da RIM quali ad esempio Twitter, Facebook, Google Talk, ecc. Per tutti gli altri programmi di terze parti la regola generale prima di effettuare la verifica e': Verificare di aver attivato i servizi BlackBerry sulla propria scheda SIM. Verificare che nelle Opzioni->Opzioni avanzate->browser->configurazione predefinita browser vi sia la presenza della voce "Browser Internet". Quindi: Verificare nel manuale di ciascun programma che abbia la possibilità di utilizzare l'apn "blackberry.net" Installare l applicazione e utilizzarla lasciando l'impostazione APN (Opzioni- >Opzioni avanzate->tcp) del proprio BlackBerry vuota. Posto il fatto che dovete sincerarvi che i dati di configurazione del browser BlackBerry siano presenti sul vostro palmare. Questo equivale, come detto prima, a "forzare" la connessione su APN "blackberry.net". Se non si riceve alcun errore di connessione alla rete allora significa che l'applicazione e' in grado di sfruttare l'apn "blackberry.net" già presente sul palmare tramite il servizio BIS/BES. A parte l'apn "blackberry.net", che non e' necessario impostare manualmente e che e' già presente nel palmare BlackBerry a seguito della sottoscrizione e attivazione di un contratto BlackBerry, e' possibile impostare un solo APN alternativa alla volta nel campo Opzioni -> Opzioni avanzate -> Rete -> TCP -> APN. E possibile disabilitare e abilitare il servizio dati in modo completo, andando in Opzioni - >Rete->servizi dati e impostare il valore a "disattivati" oppure "disattivati durante il roaming". 4
NOTA BENE: Per tutti i BlackBerry l unica impostazione necessaria è quella relativa all attivazione del servizio dati se no fosse già attivo, e immissione dell'apn a cui collegarsi. 5
Urmet Software Mobile 1. Premere il pulsante Blackberry ed entrare nel menù principale 2. Entrare nel sotto menù Downloads 3. Selezionare l applicazione i-nvmplus o l applicativo dell Urmet Software Mobile 4. Inserire i dati dell apparato da visualizzare (nome, indirizzo IP/dominio, porta dati, username e password) 5. Scegliere la modalità di connessione 2G/3G o WIFI e salvare 6. Lanciare l applicativo. 6
ENGLISH GENERAL INFORMATION BLACKBERRY GUIDE APN (Access Point Node) is a gateway used for data connection. Telephone carriers costs and services are based on gateway name. For example, the APN name used to send MMS is mms.vodafone.it (Vodafone), mms.tim.it (TIM), mms.wind (Wind) or the APN name for internet navigation (GPRS traffic) is internet.wind (Wind), web.omnitel.it (Vodafone), ibox.tim.it (TIM). APN "blackberry.net" is that used by BlackBerry service and is the same for all the mobile operators. APN "blackberry.net" doesn't need to be configured. It is not needed to specify this APN in the phone configuration because the settings are already present in the BlackBerry configuration data. BIS service users: - BlackBerry Internet Service it is mandatory that the mobile operator has set up properly the internet navigation services within the BlackBerry Browser. To check this, open options->advanced options->browser and find among the items the browser internet entry. If the Browser Internet entry is not present, please contact your mobile operator in order to require the sending/configuration of the data used to configure the BlackBerry browser. With this configuration, all the applications which use the APN blackberry.net will be able to open an internet connection. For BES service users, company - BlackBerry Enterprise Server It is possible that third party applications are able to use "blackberry.net" APN through the "BlackBerry Browser" data. This is the navigation service or the internet connection offered by the company BES server. If the navigation is still not available, it is possible require to the mobile operator the BlackBerry browser configuration for BIS users. Some operators call this service prosumer in order to differentiate it from the enterprise service for BES users. At least, if among the browser entries there isn't "BlackBerry Browser", it is possible that the company IT administrator has activated a rule to disable internet browsing with the BlackBerry browser. 7
THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS It is needed to set up the mobile operator internet navigation APN for all those programs/applications that aren't able to use blackberry.net APN. It is better to check in the contract if the APN used has a flat rate, otherwise the traffic is charged counting the downloaded KB. The instructions used to configure and activate the APN for the above mentioned version are the following: Press the BlackBerry button to reach the main menu Select the Options sub-menu. Select the Advanced Options sub-menu. Select the TCP/IP sub-menu. Activate the APN to connect to Enter the name of the APN to connect to Optional: Activate the authentication mode and enter the access parameters if required by the APN 8
GENERIC NOTES BEFORE ADD A APN Leave the APN field empty in the options field of your BlackBerry to make available only the blackberry.net used by the BIS/BES service. If no error messages like connection error, network error, etc. are received, it means that the application is correctly using the blackberry.net APN. If a connection error is present, the only solution is setting a APN which can be used for the internet navigation and then checking the internet access. Take care that APN different from blackberry.net could activate a GPRS navigation mode and the traffic, evaluated in KB, could be expensive. In this case is a good choice to subscribe a contract for a monthly flat rate for the selected APN. At the first power-up of our palm, all the applications already installed use the "blackberry.net" APN if the BlackBerry service (BIS or BES) is properly activated on our SIM card. For example, native applications are e-mail, BlackBerry Maps or Mappe BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger (chat), social network clients developed by RIM as Twitter, Facebook, Google Talk, etc. For all the others third party programs, before the check follow the rule above: Check if BlackBerry services are active on your SIM Check that in Options->Advanced options->browser->browser Default Configuration is present the item "Browser Internet". Then: Check in the manual of each program that it is able to use the APN blackberri.net Install the application and use it leaving empty the APN value (Options->Advanced Options ->TCP) of your BlackBerry. Check that the BlackBerry browser configuration data of your palm are right. This is a way to force the connection on the "blackberry.net" APN. If no errors are received from the network, this means that the application is able to use the "blackberry.net" APN via BIS/BES services. It is not necessary a manual setup of the "blackberry.net" APN because it is already present in the BlackBerry palm when a BlackBerry contract has been subscribed and activated. Beside this, it is possible to set only one alternative APN at a time in the field Options -> Advanced Options -> Network -> TCP -> APN. It is possible to completely disable or enable data service by selecting Options - >Network->Data Services and setting the value to disabled or disabled during roaming. 9
NOTE: For all the BlackBerry devices, the only needed setup is the one used to activate the data service, if not yet active, and the APN to be used for the connection. 10
