La colonnina l BARBER S POLE Dalla fine dell Ottocento, tutti i barbieri erano segnalati con una colonnina posta fuori dal negozio a colori e girevole che rimaneva accesa anche la notte. La colonnina aveva il colore rosso che rappresentava il sangue per l attività medica, la striscia blu che rappresentava il mestiere di barbiere e quella bianca era il segno di garanzia d igiene. In the middle age barbers performed surgery and tooth extractions and the origin of barber s pole with a helix of red, white and blue stripes is associated to bloodletting service. The red stripe symbolize the bloodstained bandages, the white stripe the clean ones and the blue stripe is the colour associated to barbers activity. The barber s poles have been the typical sign at barbers shops since end of XIX century and in the modern day they are spinning and lighted, sometimes all night long. 80
