Project 15.2.6: Main objective SESAR P15.2.6 Future Mobile Satellite Communication is the SESAR project interfacing the ESA Iris Programme for all the SATCOM matters 3 Project 15.2.6 Main objective: To develop the requirements for the future Satellite Communication system (inputs for the ESA Iris Programme) and perform complementary activities of validation and support to the ICAO standardization

Project 15.2.6: Specific objectives 1. Define the SATCOM Mission Requirements in the context of 4D trajectory management 5 2. Define the SATCOM system interfaces with the overall SESAR infrastructure 3. Define the technical validation requirements for the SATCOM solution 4. Support the ESA Iris Programme for executing the technical validation from an end-to-end point of view in collaboration with P15.2.4 for the Future Communication Infrastructure Operational Concept. Operational validation is not included. 5. Support the standardization processes by promoting the SATCOM solution to aviation regional and international standardizations bodies (ICAO, EUROCAE, etc.)

Current status: SATCOM Mission Requirement Document 8 SATCOM MRD Issue 3.0 submitted to SJU on 29/01/2013 Main improvements wrt previous MRD issue 2.3 are: Overall document structure update Consolidation of Communication Service requirements (including topics like: Multi-link, Data link, Voice, Coverage, Security & Safety, etc) Consolidation of Service Provision requirements (including topics like: Data and Voice capacity, Nominal and Contingencies operations, Lifecycle, Standardization and Certification, Interoperability, etc) Next steps: Consolidation of the Verification and Validation requirements
Current status: Achievement and progress of project next steps Review and update (if necessary) the schedule and planning as appropriate further to the 2012 ESA Ministerial Conference outcomes Considering that P15.2.4 Future Mobile Data Link System Definition is expected to KO within February, to initiate discussions/iterations on the main P15.2.6 assumptions related to the Future Communication Infrastructure and Multi Link Operational Concept Consolidate a second draft of the SATCOM ICD Prepare and deliver to ESA a draft version of the Validation and Verification Test plan and procedure for step V3 * document by July 2013 in order to be used by ESA for the preparation of the ESA Ministerial Conference 2014 9 * Step V3 is indicating in the European Operational Concept Validation Methodology (E-OCVM) a system ready for the industrialization and preoperational phase
