La diffusione dei risultati e la promozione di nuove competenze con una propria rivista e sito web, conferenze e seminari. L attiva partecipazione, in ambito nazionale, ed EU, alla attività di ricerca e formazione per lo sviluppo di strumenti, pratiche e strategie tesi alla riduzione della vulnerabilità e alla gestione delle crisi.

8 The Role of Security within UE : European Organization for Security (1/4) It was created in July 2007 by 25 European private sector providers and users from all domains of security solutions and services. The objective was to address the rapidly growing number of initiatives from both national and European administrations in the area of civil security, promoting the innovation and implementation of European civil Security Capabilities. EOS is a tool for European security stakeholders to support a comprehensive implementation of security strategies at National, European and International levels. EOS develops close relationships with key public and private stakeholders. In July 2007 EOS became a SCRL (limited liability cooperative company) under Belgian law. It is run as a non-for-profit organisation.

9 The Role of Security within UE : European Organization for Security (2/4) EOS will support the various activities in the following priority areas: EU borders security (including Maritime Surveillance) Air Passenger End-to-End Security Crisis Management and Civilian Protection Information and Communication Technologies Network and Data Security Supply Chain Security Energy Infrastructure Security Security of Transport for Surface Passengers Transversal Issues (Interoperability, Human Factors, Validation & Certification Network etc) EOS acts as a privileged interlocutor between its members (suppliers, operators and users), EU Institutions, National administrations, international organisations and advisory bodies such as ESRIF.

ESRIF is a European strategy group in the civil security research domain that was established in September The main objective of ESRIF is the development of a mid and long term Joint Security Research and Innovation Agenda that will link security research with security policy making and its implementation through public private dialogue. This work is supposed to be ready by 2009.

17 The Role of Security within UE : Public Safety Communication Europe (1/3). The Forum was launched on 1st June 2006 for an initial duration of 3 years with the support of the European Commission, which finances this work as a Special Support Action under the 6th Framework Programme. Objective: To facilitate consensus building (though users, policy makers, industrials, research organizations, authorities) in the area of public safety communication and information management systems: Consolidated user requirements. Solutions for inter-operability of communication systems among users; A R&D roadmap for future activities. Guidelines for policy makers and regulators, indicating ways for the improvement of global, European or national inter-operability through implementation of harmonized technologies and/or approximation of legal environments.

18 The Role of Security within UE : Public Safety Communication Europe (2/3). PSC Europe Forum has now 412 members from 45 countries. New members are welcome. Objective: Drafting of Memoranda of Understanding for finding global solutions regarding public safety communication and related information management systems.

24 Future Opportunities: ESA Title: HIGH SPEED BI-WAY MOBILE SATELLITE SYSTEMS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY APPLICATIONS Open Date: Autumn Closing Date:? Price Range: KEURO. SCOPE: Two particular requirements: The ability to support rapid exchange of information in both directions whilst on the move; and The need to complement and integrate with the Private Mobile Radio networks already operated by safety and security agencies. The study will first develop: a consolidated operational scenario, to capture the Common Operational Pictures that are typically required for public safety uses. It will then attempt to define and size a possible end-to-end system, including satellite and ground network architecture and appropriate frequency bands.
