That s why it is so important to make the right aesthetic decisions when making the hangtags, and that s why Reca Group offers a multitude of possible options for creating them. Some of these (as with various other products) involve longstanding traditional techniques, which today can be performed semi-automatically or totally automatically, such as lithography or serigraphy (silk screening) as always, for Reca Group, applied to eco-sustainable paper (certified or made from secondary fibre or recycled). While offset printing (lithography) transfers a digital file onto paper using a sequential system of rolls and a zinc or aluminium plate (in a process based on the principle of repulsion between water-based and oil-based substances), serigraphy involves a screen consisting of a frame and a sheet of silk, through which each of the chosen colours is transferred with the help of a spatula. Both these techniques generally use the four colour printing, but can also employ pantone colours, fluorescent or shiny colours or in serigraphy metallic effects. What makes one system or another preferable in any given case is simply the customer s specific requirements, including the number of items to be printed (lithography is best for large orders) or the kind of material to be printed on (serigraphy is more versatile in this respect). The kind of subject to be printed is also a factor: for photographic images, the most precise system is that of offset printing. Serigraphy, on the other hand, is particularly suitable for high density printing which creates a 3D surface effect. Alcune di queste, come per altri supporti, fanno riferimento a tecniche tradizionali antiche, oggi effettuabili anche in maniera semi o totalmente automatica, quali la litografia e la serigrafia, come sempre applicate a carte ecologiche (certificate o provenienti da fibre secondarie o riciclate). Mentre la stampa offset (litografica) trasferisce il file digitale al supporto cartaceo avvalendosi di un sistema sequenziale di rulli e di una lasta di zinco o alluminio (processo che si basa sul principio di repulsione tra sostanze acquose e oleose), nella serigrafia viene impiegato un setaccio composto di un telaio e di una tela di seta, attraverso la quale ciascuno dei colori prescelti viene trasferito con l ausilio di una spatola. Entrambe le tecniche prevedono l impiego della quadricromia, ma anche di tinte pantone, fluorescenti, lucidanti o, nel caso della serigrafia, persino metalliche. Ciò che rende l una preferibile all altra dipende esclusivamente dalle specifiche esigenze del cliente, come il
numero di esemplari da realizzare (maggiore per la litografia) o la qualità del materiale di cui è costituito il supporto finale (aspetto per il quale la serigrafia risulta più versatile); anche la tipologia di soggetto influenza la scelta della tecnica di stampa: per immagini fotografiche infatti la miglior precisione di centratura che contraddistingue la stampa offset, la rende maggiormente consigliabile. Diversamente, con la serigrafia, è possibile effettuare stampe ad alta densità che donano ai cartellini un effetto tridimensionale di superficie.
