At the service of ophthalmology since 1932 Consigli per pulizia e manutenzione degli strumenti per vitreoretina Per la natura stessa della chirurgia vitreoretinica e delle tecniche chirurgiche, gli strumenti vitreoretinici e le pinze intraoculari da capsuloressi sono stati concepiti per essere estremamente sensibili alla mano del chirurgo. All interno del manico dello strumento si trova un meccanismo delicatissimo, che può essere danneggiato o corroso dai liquidi intraoculari se lo strumento non viene accuratamente pulito subito dopo l uso. Nel caso in cui non vengano sciacquati subito, questi meccanismi possono essere danneggiati da coaguli proteici. Gli strumenti devono essere puliti immediatamente dopo l uso. Proteggere sempre le estremità distali degli strumenti con gli appositi cappucci o con tubicini di silicone sterilizzabili. Unitamente agli strumenti viene fornita una siringa da utilizzare per risciacquare e asciugare micropinze e microforbici. Fasi di pulizia 1. Sciacquare lo strumento con acqua distillata. L estremità dello strumento va inserita nel tubo di silicone della siringa, quindi va risciacquata e pulita esercitando una leggera pressione sul pistone della siringa stessa. 2. Eliminare l acqua distillata iniettando alcol per facilitare l asciugatura. 3. Iniettare con la siringa dell aria nello strumento per far fuoriuscire i residui di alcol. Always protect the tips of the instruments with appropriate cap or sterilizable silicone tubs. A syringe is provided together with the instrument to be used for the washing and drying of the micro-forceps and micro-scissors. Cleaning procedures 1. Rinse the instrument using distilled water. Insert the tips of the instrument inside the silicone syringe, then clean and wash by pressing slightly the piston of the syringe itself. 2. Eliminate the distilled water injecting alcohol to allow correct drying. 3. Inject air in the instrument using the syringe to allow removal of the remaining alcohol. Dal 1932 al servizio dell oftalmologia 32 Strumenti per vitreoretina con fibra ottica Gli strumenti vitreoretinici con fibra ottica sono dotati di un tubicino lungo il manico del quale passa la fibra che, seguendo gli innesti, arriva ad illuminare la parte operativa dello strumento. Uno sleeve in silicone è posizionato alla base degli innesti per fissare la fibra nella posizione desiderata e impedire che ci sia fuoriuscita di liquidi durante l intervento. Lo sleeve in silicone è risterilizzabile con le stesse modalità dello strumento. Inserimento della fibra ottica e preparazione all uso - Inserire la fibra ottica nel tubicino in acciaio (1) e spingerla delicatamente fino a quando fuoriesce all estremità prossimale (2). - Spostare con cura lo sleeve in silicone in modo da poter inserire la fibra ottica (3). Spingere delicatamente la fibra fino a che fuoriesce all estremità distale dello strumento (4). Evitare forzature. - Riposizionare lo sleeve così come in origine. - Pulire le superfici esterne del manico con bastoncini in cellulosa. Evitare il contatto delle estremità dello strumento con corpi estranei. - Asciugare delicatamente le superfici esterne dello strumento. E possibile asciugare tutto lo strumento con aria compressa. - Dopo le fasi di pulizia descritte lo strumento dovrebbe essere controllato al microscopio per verificare la corretta pulizia e funzionalità. - Sterilizzare in autoclave a temperature non superiori a 135 C (acqua demineralizzata) o con ossido di etilene (gas). Verificare che dopo l ultimo ciclo in autoclave gli strumenti siano perfettamente asciutti: eventuali residui di vapore acqueo sulle superfici potrebbero innescare processi di ossidazione. Nella pulizia periodica dello strumento chirurgico non utilizzare soluzioni che possano lasciare residui, quali per es. soluzioni saline o abrasive, ma fare uso esclusivamente di liquidi specifici per la pulizia di strumenti in acciaio inox o titanio. Vaschette a ultrasuoni Per evitare possibili alterazioni delle superfici dello strumentario si consiglia il lavaggio in vaschette a ultrasuoni. Prima del lavaggio sciacquare lo strumentario con acqua distillata, appoggiandolo successivamente su un tappetino di silicone, facendo attenzione che le punte non vengano in contatto con le parti della vaschetta (le vibrazioni potrebbero infatti danneggiare le punte). Sono sufficienti cicli di 5-10 minuti. Lubrificare periodicamente gli snodi degli strumenti con apposito grasso in silicone, soprattutto dopo i lavaggi in vaschette a ultrasuoni. Fiber Optic Retinal Instruments The fiber optic retinal instruments bear a small tube along the handle. The fiber optic is located inside the handle and it reaches the tips of the instrument allowing illumination of the operating part of the instruments itself. A silicone sleeve is placed on the shaft to fix the fiber in the correct position and also to avoid outflow of liquids while operating. Both the silicone sleeve and the instruments can be re-sterilized with the same procedures. How to insert the fiber optic and how to prepare it for use - Insert the fiber optic in the small inox tube (1) and push it gently until it comes out of the proximal point (2). - Move carefully the silicone sleeve in order for the fiber optic to be pushed through (3). Push gently the fiber optic until it reaches the distal part of the instruments (4). Avoid forcing. - Replace the silicon sleeve to its original position. - Clean the outer part of the handle s surface using cellulose sticks. Carefully avoid touching the tips of the instruments. - Dry gently the surface of the instrument. Compressed air drying of the whole instrument is recommended. - After a correct cleaning of the instrument we recommend to check it carefully using a microscope in order to make sure that the instrument is properly working and correctly cleaned. - Sterilize in autoclave avoiding temperatures above 135 (non-mineralized water) or with ethylene oxide (gas) Make sure that all instruments are perfectly dried after the last cycle in autoclave. Water steam on the surface may cause oxidation. Never use saline or abrasive solutions for the periodical cleaning of the instruments as they may leave residues. Use exclusively specific products for the cleaning of stainless steel and titanium instruments. Ultrasound cleaning device In order to prevent alterations of the instrument surface, we recommend washing in ultrasound cleaning device. Prior to ultrasound cleaning, rinse the instruments using distilled water. Place the instruments on a silicone rug, paying attention not to touch the walls of the cleaning device because vibrations may damage the tips. Cycles must be no longer than 5-10 minutes. Lubricate periodically the articulated joints using silicone grease after ultrasound cleaning.
