17 Conservation program Konokono loves and respects its host environment. For this reason it has created its Conservation Program, aimed at preserving the delicate balance of fauna and flora, which covers more than 40% of the resort s surface. In Konokono and in the Jozani Forest- Chwaka Bay Conservation Area you can admire many protected species, including the elephant shrew, the red colobus monkey and the Aders duiker. General information Zanzibar, also called The Spice Island, is part of Tanzania and it is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago. The Konokono resort is located on the Michamvi peninsula, in the southeastern part of Zanzibar, and overlooks the wonderful Chwaka Bay. The equatorial geographical position is responsible for an average temperature of around 25 C. There are two dry seasons: from December to March and from June to October, when temperatures can reach over 30 C, and two rainy seasons: from mid-april to May and in November ( short rains month ). The time zone is 3 hours ahead of GMT. The Konokono resort is open 12 months a year.
