2 INITIATIVES FOR THE BIENNALE ARTE 2015 PROMOTED BY THE MIBACT DIREZIONE GENERALE ARTE E ARCHITETTURA CONTEMPORANEE E PERIFERIE URBANE cured by Vincenzo Trione

3 PREMISE Among the initiatives promoted by Padiglione Italia 2015 (the Italian Pavilion) curated by Vincenzo Trione, and sponsored by MiBACT for the Biennale Arte 2015, five workshops will be held for students of Accademie di Belle Arti italiane (Italian Fine Arts Academies). The project is coordinated by Giuseppe Gaeta, Director of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli (Fine Arts Academy of Naples) for the Academies and by Paola Maddaluno for Padiglione Italia. The workshops, which will focus on specific themes, cover subjects taught at the Academies, and will be lead by four artists who have been invited by the curator of Padiglione Italia 2015 to take part in the exhibit Codice Italia, and by a film director. The workshops will be both theoretical and practical; they will last three days each and will be held once a month (from July to November 2015, with the exception of August), at VEGA Parco Scientifico Tecnologico di Venezia (via Libertà 12, Marghera, Venice). The works realized during the workshops will be exhibited in the same venue. REQUISITES Students of Accademie di Belle Arti italiane listed in Annex 1 can apply to take part in the Codice Italia Academy. Students must indicate the year of enrolment in one of the Academies in the CV which must be sent together with the application (see below).

4 HOW TO PARTICIPATE Plying must submit a portfolio. This must be max. 10 pages long, format A4, aligned vertically, in PDF, max. 10 Mbyte, (with Adobe Acrobat, select High Quality or Press Quality), and must include: - cover (name, surname, home Academy); - a short curriculum vitae, the student must also state the year he or she enrolled in the Academy and the name of the School he or she attends (max. ten lines with photo); - a selection of five significant works; - the description of an artistic project the student is currently involved in. The applications that do not comply with these specifications will be automatically eliminated. The applications will be examined by internal commissions nominated by the Directors of the Academies; the forms must be filled in by the Academies at the address following the indications given in the dedicated area of the website. The applications must be completed and uploaded to the site within one month of the publication of the announcement, an no later than April 30, The applications received after this date will not be considered. The applications will be then examined by a commission of Padiglione Italia 2015 chaired by Vincenzo Trione and composed of some of the artists who have been invited to take part in the exhibition Codice Italia. By May , the commission will inform the single candidates of the admission to the workshops by (academy@codiceitalia2015.com) and will send the list of students accepted to the Academies. The commission will also inform on how to take part in the workshops. Travel expenses and residence costs of the students are to be covered by the Academies.

5 HOW THE WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE Students attending the workshops will be granted two course credits, recognized by their home Accademia di Belle Arti. The areas covered and the artists leading the workshops are: > Painting > Giuseppe Caccavale > Sculpture > Nino Longobardi > Photography > Antonio Biasiucci > Drawing > Andrea Aquilanti > Cinema and video-art > Davide Ferrario See the annex for the list of single workshops and for information regarding dates. TThe program of the first two days of the workshop will be the following: -9:00 9:30 registration of the participants -9:30 14:00 morning session -14:00 14:30 lunch break -14:30 18:30 afternoon session On the third day the exhibition of the works will be organized and inaugurated in the same venue the workshops are held. 5 Each student will receive a certificate of attendance. 6 The profile of the students selected will be published on the site in the section Codice Italia Academy.

The coordinator Paola Maddaluno will be present during all workshops. Each institution can submit up to 15 applications, with at least two names for each workshop. Each workshop will have a maximum of 25 participants. The workshops will take place only if a minimum of 15 students enrol.
