On 16 June 2005 was inaugurated the Digital Library - Knowledge Centre "R. Maceratini and the Patient Library A double sided Library for Health Professionals and Patients
The Library mission is to: support clinical research activities by offering access to updated, evidence based, scientific documentation favour the best clinical practice and the choises of patients (patient empowerment) promote and develope health Information Literacy educate health professionals and lay people on the access, selection and use of good health information carry out research and produce publications on issues of medical information

SICOP, SIRIO, AZALEA Three projects for patients information and communication: working together in a multidisciplinary team We built, as project leader (SICOP, AZALEA), in Italy a network of patient libraries and information point in cancer research institutions developing an unique database and a unique educational model for the personnel working for delivering the information for patients and their relatives. AZALEA was the first prototype of a database for cancer patients in Italy, now CignoWeb.
