User Guide Guglielmo SmartClient

1. Introduction Guglielmo SmartClient is an application that recognizes automatically when you are in one hotspot Guglielmo, and alerts the user with an appropriate message. Once inside the hotspot you have the possibility to login entering your own credentials (username and password) to access and navigate the Internet. Guglielmo SmartClient will address of the Wi-Fi connection and login procedure. After will be possible to logout when you decide to disconnect from Wi-Fi network Guglielmo. Note: to use Guglielmo SmartClient you need a PC with one Wi-Fi interface, that it must be enabled when you want to access an hotspot Guglielmo. The Wi-Fi interface will be configured with the DHCP (in Windows: Obtain an IP address automatically in the options of the Wi-Fi interface). To know if your PC have a Wi-Fi interface, to know how to enable it and configure, contact the seller or the assistance of the PC. -3-

2. How to use Guglielmo SmartClient In this section is shows how to use Guglielmo SmartClient after you install it on your PC. For the installation just start the Setup and follow carefully the wizard. Please note that for the proper functioning is necessary to enable the Wi-Fi interface on your computer. 2.1 Start If during the installation process you have selected the option Start Guglielmo SmartClient when Windows starts the application will start automatically when Windows starts. Alternatively, there are two ways to start the application: 1. Double-click in the icon on the Desktop: 2. Go to the Windows menu (bottom left) All Programs Guglielmo SmartClient Click on the application icon: The application starts by displaying an icon in the Windows system tray (bottom right): 2.2 First Start If is the first time that you start the application, you will see a welcome window, where you can choose your preferred language. After select the language click on the button Start to start the program. -4-

2.3 The states of application The icon of Guglielmo SmartClient has a different color depending on the state where it is: - Not connected: the icon is orange when there are no Wi-Fi networks Guglielmo. From the main application window you can perform a search for Wi-Fi network Guglielmo. - Login: the icon is light blue when you are inside a hotspot Guglielmo and you can login to connect to the Internet. Opening the main window you can enter your credentials and start the login procedure. - Connected: the green icon indicates that you are connected (and authenticated) to a hotspot Guglielmo and can browse the Internet. From the main window you can logout. -5-

2.4 Search for a Wi-Fi network Guglielmo Just started the application the icon will be orange, and usually that means you are not in a hotspot Guglielmo. If you are however near or within a hotspot Guglielmo is possible to perform a research network as follows: 1. Click on the icon of Guglielmo SmartClient ( ) on the Windows system tray. 2. This will open the main window. In the opened window click on Search button. 3. Will start a search which can take several seconds. If it finds a Wi-Fi network Guglielmo will go to login screen, otherwise it returns to the screen where it is possible repeat the search. Tips : Guglielmo SmartClient is able to automatically detect the presence of a Wi-Fi network to which to connect. In that case a message is displayed next to the icon at the bottom right to indicate that was found one network. At that point you can login by clicking on the message. -6-

2.5 Login When the icon is light blue means that you are in a hotspot Guglielmo and must log in to browse the Internet. For authentication, follow these steps: 1. Click icon in system tray. This will open the main window where you can enter your credentials. 2. Enter your username and password of your account Guglielmo. Selecting Remember credentials you can store the values to avoid having to enter it each time. 3. Click on Login. Will start the login procedure (which can last several minutes) after which you will see a screen that will indicate how the procedure was completed. In case of errors, such as invalid credentials, you receive an appropriate message, otherwise you will be authenticated to the network Guglielmo and you can surf the Internet. -7-

Tips: selecting Remember credentials will be possible repetition of the login procedure without opening the main window, simply clicking the icon with the right mouse and clicking the word Login in the menu that opens. 2.6 Logout After successful login procedure the application s icon will turn green to indicate that you are authenticated and you can surf the Internet. Not to have problems with your account Guglielmo, you must logout before disconnecting from the network and exit from hotspot: 1. Click icon in the Windows system tray. This will open the main window. 2. At this point, simply click on the button Logout to initiate the logout. -8-

Tips: you can also log out by clicking the right mouse on the icon, then click on Logout in the menu that appears. -9-
