Di cosa si tratta KESS Master è un programmatore seriale in linea K e linea CAN, che consente la lettura e la riprogrammazione di un elevato numero di autovetture. Vantaggi Con KESS Master è possibile comunicare con la centralina motore senza intervenire direttamente su di essa, quindi utilizzando comodamente la presa diagnosi. Perché Master KESS Master permette di essere associato a più KESS Slave. I suoi Slave accetteranno solo file provenienti dall unico Master. Gli stessi Slave, in fase di lettura, producono un file codificato interpretabile unicamente dal Master ad essi associato. KESS and OBDII cable 2

Accedere al sito internet www.alientech.to 2. Cliccare su upgrade download 3. Inserire codice cliente e password personali 4. Cliccare sull icona KESS 5. Scaricare il file instkessxx.exe (dove XX corrisponde all ultima versione disponibile del software) 6. Lanciare il programma di installazione e seguire le istruzioni Suggerimento: E bene collegarsi abitualmente alla nostra banca dati, in modo da tenersi costantemente aggiornati con l ultima versione software disponibile. Un costante aggiornamento è indispensabile per un ottimale utilizzo dello strumento. Importante: E fondamentale ricordarsi che ad ogni aggiornamento software (compresa la prima installazione) è indispensabile effettuare l aggiornamento del file cfg, da richiedere a service@alientech.to (nell eventualità che il file non arrivi in automatico) tramite l invio di una e-mail contentente il numero seriale del KESS Master. 3
Utilizzo del software Schermata di avvio e selezione del software KESS Effettuare una lettura 1. Collegare lo strumento KESS alla presa diagnosi della macchina (i LED di stato di KESS cominceranno a lampeggiare) 2. Connettere KESS al PC 3. Eseguire il software cliccando sull icona KESS presente sul desktop 4. Selezionare la vettura da leggere 5. Accendere il quadro della macchina 6. Cliccare sul pulsante Dati presente sulla destra (le informazioni della vettura, se disponibili, appariranno in un riquadro sulla sinistra) 7. Cliccare su Leggi, che dopo aver effettuato la lettura dei dati, sarà disponibile 8. Selezionare il percorso in cui si desidera che sia salvato il file letto dalla vettura e seguire le istruzioni a video 4
Suggerimento: Il software aiuta l utente in ogni passaggio, è quindi importante seguire le istruzioni a video Assicurarsi dunque di seguire la corretta procedura sia per leggere le vetture, sia per scriverle. Software KESS durante la lettura. Notare come ogni informazione è disponibile a video 5
Effettuare una scrittura 1. Collegare lo strumento KESS alla presa diagnosi della macchina (i LED di stato di KESS cominceranno a lampeggiare) 2. Connettere KESS al PC 3. Eseguire il software cliccando sull icona KESS presente sul desktop 4. Selezionare la vettura da scrivere 5. Accendere il quadro della macchina 6. Cliccare sul pulsante Dati presente sulla destra (le informazioni della vettura, se disponibili, appariranno in un riquadro sulla sinistra) 7. Cliccare su Prog, che dopo aver eseguito la lettura dei dati, sarà disponibile 8. Selezionare il percorso del file da programmare in centralina 9. Seguire le istruzioni a video Accessori Opzionali Cavo K2 universale In commercio esistono vetture la cui linea di comunicazione (K-Line) non raggiunge la presa diagnosi nell abitacolo. In questi casi è sufficiente dotarsi del cavo K2 (detto anche universale). Con la pinza Kleps in dotazione è possibile collegarsi direttamente al filo della K-Line, permettendo così la programmazione della centralina. Suggerimento: E bene assicurarsi di agganciare correttamente il filo alla pinza rubacorrente. A volte la semplice pressione della pinza non basta ed è necessario intervenire manualmente per permettere all ago della pinza Kleps di penetrare al di sotto della guaina e raggiungere così i conduttori in rame. 6
Cavo K4 Il cavo K4 è indispensabile ogni volta che si procede alla programmazione della centralina a banco. Il suo impiego, previa la consultazione di un pinout per indentificare i pin della centralina, è pressochè semplice ed immediato. Il LED che fuoriesce dalla scatolina del cavo indica la presenza o meno di alimentazione diretta alla centralina, in modo da assicurare all utente un utilizzo in completa sicurezza. Lo schema dei fili è il seguente: Rosso = +12 V Arancio = +12 V Blu = +12 V Giallo = +12 V Bianco = +12 V Verde = K-Line Grigio = GND Nero = GND Quando i morsetti sono collegati alla batteria, lo strumento KESS riceve sempre alimentazione, indipendentemente dalla posizione dell interruttore sulla scatola. L interruttore serve solo per alimentare o togliere alimentazione la centralina. Importante: Assicuratevi sempre che il LED sia spento e che la posizione dell interruttore sia su OFF quando collegare i fili sulla centralina. L accensione del cavo K4 equivale all accensione del quadro sulla macchina, quindi assicuratevi di aver collegato correttamente i fili del K4 ai pin della centralina. 7
Funzione Master La funzione Master permette all utente di produrre file codificati interpretabili solamente dai KESS Slave ad esso associati. Da solo, KESS Master è autonomo, permette la lettura del file originale e la programmazione della centralina con un file modificato. Al momento dell acquisto di un KESS Slave, l utente Master riceverà un file *.ksl, con cui verrà abilitata l opzione Master nel software KESS. Questo file dovrà essere manualmente salvato nella cartella C:\KESS. Interfaccia Master con a destra l elenco dei KESS Slave associati ed in alto la barra degli strumenti Decodificare un file Quando KESS Slave legge la centralina di una vettura, le informazioni recuperate vengono salvate in un file codificato (*.cod), impossibile da interpretare. Soltanto il KESS Master associato al KESS Slave che ha letto la vettura è in grado di decodificare il file e di visualizzarlo correttamente con ECM2001. Per farlo occorre seguire questa breve procedura (in cui KESS deve sempre essere alimentato, collegandolo ad un automobile o al cavo K2 o K4 e collegato al pc): 1. Eseguire il programma KESS cliccando sull icona presente sul desktop 2. Cliccare sul menù Master, in alto a sinistra. 3. Scegliere Decodifica slave file 4. Selezionare Sfoglia e fornire il percorso in cui si trova il file da decodificare 5. Appena selezionato il file, sarà possibile cliccare su Decodifica 8
Una volta terminata la decodifica, sarà sufficiente fornire al software il percorso in cui salvare il nuovo file decodificato (*.dec) Codifica di un file Prima di fornire un file da scrivere ad un KESS Slave è necessario codificarlo. Il file codificato con KESS Master è interpretabile da un unico KESS Slave, ma se si desidera codificare lo stesso file per più Slave è sufficiente ripetere l operazione per ogni KESS. Per codificare il file basta seguire queste semplici istruzioni (in cui KESS deve sempre essere alimentato, collegandolo ad un automobile o al cavo K2 o K4 e collegato al pc): 1. Eseguire il programma KESS cliccando sull icona presente sul desktop 2. Cliccare sul pulsante Master, in alto a sinistra 3. Selezionare nel menù a destra il KESS Slave a cui associare il file codificato 4. Scegliere Prepara file per slave 5. Selezionare Sfoglia e fornire il percorso in cui si trova il file da codificare 6. Appena selezionato il file, sarà possibile cliccare su Codifica Una volta terminata la codifica, sarà sufficiente fornire al software il percorso in cui salvare il nuovo file codificato (*.cod). Importante: Si ricorda che la funzione Master non è abilitata di default con ogni KESS. Per attivare l opzione Master è necessario associare un KESS Slave e copiare il file (*.ksl) che verrà inviato alla vostra casella e-mail. Nel caso in cui il file non fosse ricevuto correttamente, è necessario mandare una mail a service@alientech.to, contenente numero di serie di KESS Master e di KESS Slave a cui si vuole associare. Avvertenze Nel caso in cui si verificasse una interruzione della comunicazione tra KESS e il PC, è necessario riavviare il software KESS. KESS è un strumento di Classe A. In un ambiente residenziale può provocare radiodisturbo. 9
What is it KESS Master it s a serial programmer in K line and CAN line. It allows the reading and the reprogramming of an high number of cars. Advantages With KESS Master it s possible to communicate with the Ecu without operate directly on it, so using only the diagnostic port (OBD). Why Master KESS Master can be associates to several KESS Slave. Its Slaves will accept only files coming from its own Master. Software use Initial page and selection of KESS software Make a reading 1. Connect KESS tool to the car s diagnostic port (at this point LEDs will be flashing) 2. Link KESS to the PC 3. Run the software selecting KESS icon on your desktop 4. Choose the car s model you want to read 5. Switch on the car s board 6. Select Datas button you find at your right (so, if available, it will appear car information in the panel at your left) 7. Select Read button, that it will be activate only after having read the datas 8. Choose the path in which you want to save the read file 9. Follow the instructions displayed 12

Make a writing 1. Connect KESS tool to the car s diagnoctic port (at this point LEDs will flashing) 2. Link KESS to the PC 3. Run the software selecting KESS icon on your desktop 4. Choose the car s model you want to write 5. Switch on the car s board. 6. Select Datas button you find at your right (so, if available, it will appear car information in the panel at your left) 7. Select Prog button, that it will be activate only after having read the datas 8. Choose the path of the file to program into the Ecu 9. Follow the instructions displayed Optional accessories K2 universal cable There are some cars on the market in which the communication line (K-line) don t arrive to the diagnostic port inside the car. In these cases it s sufficient to be equipped with K2 cable (called also universal). With its Kleps clamp it s possible to connect directly to the K-Line cable, so allowing the programmation of the Ecu. Suggestion: It s better to make sure to clamp correctly the wire at the Kleps clamp. Some times the simple pressure of the clamp is not sufficient and it s necessary to manually operate to allow at the pin of the Kleps clamp to enter under the sheath and to reach the copper conductors. 14
K4 Cable The K4 cable it s essential each time that the user make ecu desk programmation. Its use is almost simple and immediate but before you have to identify the pins of the Ecu. The LED out of the box indicates if there is or not direct power supply to the Ecu, to make sure to the user a complete safety use. The wires diagram is the following: Red = +12 V Orange = +12 V Blue = +12 V Yellow = +12 V White = +12 V Green = K-Line Grey = GND Black = GND remove power from the Ecu. When clamps are connected to the battery, KESS tool receive always power, independently from the position of the switch on the box. The switch out of the box is necessary only to supply or to Important: When you connect wires at the Ecu make always sure that LED is turned off and that the position of the switch is on OFF. The ignition of K4 cable is the equivalent of the ignition of car s board, so make you sure to have connected correctly K4 cable wires to the Ecu s pin. 15
Master function Master function allows the user to produce codified files that are interpretable only by the Kess Slave associates to it. KESS Master alone it s independent, and allow the reading of the original file and the programmation of the Ecu with a modified file. At the moment of the purchase of a KESS Slave, the Master user will receive a *.ksl file, and will have a Master option in the Kess software. This file will be saved manually in the folder C:\KESS. Master interface with at the right the list of Kess Slave associated and at the top toolbar Decode a file When KESS Slave read the car s Ecu, the information are saved in a codified file (*.cod), that is impossible to interpretate. Only the KESS Master associated to the KESS Slave, that have read the car s Ecu, it s able to decode the file in question and to visualize it correctly with ECM2001. To operate with these tools you have to follow the short procedure below (in which KESS had to be always power supplied, linking it to the car or to the K2 or K4 cable and to the PC): 1. Run KESS software pressing the icon on the desktop 2. Select Master menu, at the top to the left. 3. Choose Decode slave file 4. Click on Browse and write the path in which is the file to decode 5. Just selected the file, it will be possible to press on Decoding 16
Terminated the decoding, it will be sufficient to provide at the software the path in which the new file decoded has to be saved (*.dec) Codify a file Before to supply a written file to a KESS Slave it s necessary to codify it. The codified file with KESS Master it s interpretable only from a KESS Slave, but if you desire to codify the same file for more Slave it s sufficient to repeat the operation for each KESS. To codify the file it s sufficient to follow the instruction below (in which KESS has to be always power supplied, linking to a car or to K2 or K4 cable and to the PC): 1. Run KESS software pressing the icon on the desktop 2. Select Master button, at the top on the left 3. Choose in the menu at the right the KESS Slave to associate the codified file 4. Choose Prepare file for slave 5. Select Browse and supply the path in which is the file to codify 6. Just selected the file, it will be possible to click on Coding Terminated the coding step, it will be sufficient to supply at the software the path in which save the new file codified. (*.cod). Important: We remind that Master function it s not available on each KESS, it s an optional. To activate the Master option it s necessary to associate a KESS Slave and copy the file (*.ksl) that will be send to your e-mail address. In the case of the file doesn t arrive correctly, It s necessary to send an e-mail request to service@alientech.to, containig the serial number of the KESS Master and KESS Slave at which you want to associate the master. 17
