ROTARY CLUB MILANO FIERA Club N. 30796 DISTRETTO 2041 Anno di fondazione: 1995 Riunione del 4 marzo 2015 Bollettino n.27 CAF ONLUS DOTT.SSA LUISA PAVIA Una serata al femminile: Luisa Pavia, Amministratore Delegato del CAF (Centro Aiuto ai minori e alla Famiglia in crisi : www.caf- onlus.org) ha raccontato la sua vita professionale. Partita nell azienda di famiglia, con un ruolo primario di marketing strategico, si è reinventata professionalmente a seguito della cessione dell azienda, buttandosi con entusiasmo in una esperienza in ambito sociale. Una scommessa vinta grazie ad una forte determinazione ed una grossa disponibilità verso gli altri fino ad arrivare, con indiscusso successo alla posizione attualmente ricoperta. Conviviali, ultimo mercoledì del mese, ore 20.00 Caf è una realtà per molti ancora sconosciuta, ma, purtroppo, ancora incredibilmente attuale: una famiglia- comunità di accoglienza per quei bambini, meno fortunati, che il tribunale ha deciso di togliere alle famiglie di origine, una realtà per regalare loro il sorriso della vita e la dolcezza dell infanzia. A questa struttura Luisa ne ha recentemente affiancata una nuova, dedicata ai teen agers, più adeguata alle esigenze ed alle problematiche dei ragazzi in crescita. L entusiasmo che Luisa ci ha trasmesso è stato grande, numerose le domande e le curiosità, non ultimo il gradito invito a ritrovarci per una cena presso la loro struttura al fine di meglio conoscerla ed approfondirla.

Rotary s Historic Moments : Famous Rotarians from the Past ROTARY INTERNATIONAL Thomas Mann was born in Lübeck, June 6, 1875 and died in Zurich, August 12, 1955. Was German and one of the greatest of the XX century novelist and received the Nobel Prize in Literature 1929. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Munich, Germany. Ásgeir Ásgeirsson was born on May 13, 1894 and died on September 15, 1972, was the 2nd President of Iceland, 1952-1968. Ásgeir was elected as the second President of Iceland in a very disputed election in 1952, which occurred in advance due to the untimely death of Sveinn Björnsson, the first president of Iceland. Is Founding Member of the Rotary Club of Reykjavik - District 1360. Duke Kahanamoku was born in Oahu, August 24, 1890 and died on January 22, 1968. Father of Surf - Olympic Gold medalist - Member of the Rotary Club Of Honolulu - District 5000 - Hawaii - USA.It was a North American swimmer and surfer. He was one of the creators of modern surfing. Was in Stockholm, which began in 1912 to win their Olympic glories, which continued throughout World War 1 and were tested again in Olympic Games in 1920 and 1924. In total there were five medals won, three gold and two silver. Duke quit his career after the 1924 Games, but the famous Hawaii continued. He turned the archipelago, yet little known, the home of the world famous surfin. Rotary s Strategic Plan Rotary s strategic plan provides the framework for our future, ensuring that we continue to be known as a respected, dynamic organization that advances communities worldwide. The strategic plan evolves with the aspirations of Rotarians. It is shaped by regular input from members through surveys, focus groups, committees, and meetings, so it can continue to help us achieve our goals. Polio, once a disease feared around the world, has become a global success story for vaccines. Before the race for global polio eradication, children around the world were vulnerable to this devastating and incurable disease that often led to paralysis and permanent disability. Polio cases have since been reduced by 99 per cent and the disease now survives only in the most underserved and marginalized communities where UNICEF and its partners continue to vaccinate children in an effort to eradicate the disease globally. When we think of polio eradication, we imagine a mother cradling her child as a health care worker squeezes a drop of vaccine into an open mouth. But the drops are just one piece of the puzzle. UNICEF and its partners support the administration of the oral polio vaccine in areas where polio is endemic or outbreaks have occurred. The oral vaccine is extremely effective, but because it contains a weakened form of the live virus, it can in exceedingly rare cases turn into the disease itself. This mutated vaccine virus can be excreted in the environment and infect other children. This is a very rare occurrence, but it is especially worrisome in communities where immunization coverage is incomplete as it puts children at risk of being paralyzed for life. The only way to achieve complete polio eradication is to eventually stop using the oral, live polio vaccine altogether and to introduce the inactivated vaccine that does not contain a live virus nor the risk of vaccinederived polio virus. UNICEF, a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, is working with the 126 countries that are currently only using the oral version to begin introducing at least one dose of the inactivated vaccine into their immunization programmes by the end of 2015. In 2014, efforts were focused on planning and preparing for the introduction of the inactivated vaccine. By the end of the year, 9 of 126 countries had introduced this vaccine, 116 countries had formally committed to its introduction, of which nearly 100 countries had developed introduction plans, and 66 of 72 eligible countries had been approved for financial support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Though we have come a long way, much remains to be done in 2015 for UNICEF and its partners to stay on track for polio eradication. The remaining countries relying only on the oral vaccine will need to introduce the inactivated vaccine by the end of this year, a feat made even more challenging by the need for these countries to start drafting implementation plans, communication strategies, and train staff in preparation for the eventual withdrawal of the oral vaccine. Thanks to the countless polio workers worldwide, who have worked tirelessly for over a decade, polio eradication is now within reach as we prepare to make a global shift in the way we protect the world s children from this disease. UNICEF and its partners have shown that global coordination for immunization saves lives as we strive to create a world where all children are able to be healthy and reach their full potential. 4

Le richieste di Attestato Presidenziale pervenute saranno analizzate dal Governatore e, a seguito verifica, notificate al Rotary International. I Club riconosciuti idonei riceveranno l attestato firmato dal Presidente del Rotary International. Per vostro pronto riferimento alleghiamo l attestato Presidenziale consegnativi al SIPE.
