The campaign was set up to fund new and urgent restoration projects costing tens of miions of Euros: the VFB needs this money in order to continue to maintain and improve Mian s great cathedra. Anyone can participate in the Get your Spire project: from the imnt internationa companies that obtained an exceptiona permit to sponsor a big advertising screen, to individuas who with sma amounts of money or private donations can become part of a patrons register which updates them on the restoration work taking pace. Thanks to the efforts of many benefactors, numerous restoration projects are currenty taking pace with 12 restoration faciities working together. The most imnt project is the work on the Duomo s Main Spire which supports the Madonnina (the statue of the Virgin Mary), and the four itte spires surrounding it. Restoration is aso under way for 129 other minor spires and various structures which cover the roof. There are other ongoing projects which must end on November 4th 2013, when the Duomo Museum wi reopen and the VFB Archive wi be refitted. This is part of a compex chaenge for everyone who is fond of fine arts, and there is a big goa to reach: to return the Duomo to Mian and the word just in time for the 2015 Word Expo. Pubic transport In Mian, buses, trams and metro (underground) trains are run by a company named ATM. Ordinary tickets cost 1.50 and can be obtained in Metro stations (newsagents, automatic machines, ticket offices in some stations), and from bars dispaying the green and orange ATM sticker on the window. Weeky, monthy or yeary season tickets are avaiabe.
