4 Non esiste limite all innovazione tecnologica. Il carbonio è la materia per eccellenza ad oggi per la costruzione di biciclette e parti di bici. Ma ancora oggi il carbonio non è stato sfruttato ed utilizzato in tutte le sue caratteristiche. Si può ottenere ancora molto dalla fibra di carbonio ed ottenere risultati ancora non conosciuti. Guerciotti presenta con questa gamma 2011 un nuovo concetto che rivoluzionerà la lavorazione del carbonio ed i prodotti che si possono ottenere: NO LIMIT CAR- BON ENGINEERING. There is no limit to technical innovation. Carbon fiber is pre-eminently the material used today to build bicycles and bicycle parts. But till today not all the characteristics of carbon fiber are being exploited and used. It is possible to obtain even more from carbon fiber and achieve results which are yet to be discovered. With its range for 2011, Guerciotti presents a new concept which will radically change carbon fiber working and the products that can be obtained: NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING. This concept represents only the first element of a set of products which will revolutionize the cycle market. Starting from this basic concept NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING is a project which aims at realizing new products, by following the necessary technical prerequisites, among which the resistance in time, in order to ensure the maximum mechanical performance and valid results. Everybody has defined the monocoque technology as the only possible solution to be able to obtain a frame with greater lightness and greater stiffness. NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING was however conceived to break these barriers and to move further. To obtain an increasingly lighter frame while ensuring greater safety and reliability. Weight has always represented the biggest limit of wrapped frames. Solutions of this type have always turned out to be heavier compared to monocoque frames of an equivalent range. The monocoque has always been considered by the market as the only solution for top of the range products. But this happened in the past. Now, with NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING all this has become outdated and all the maximum characteristics that could be obtained from a monocoque frame can today be obtained with the wrapped frame technology and they are available to anyone with Eclipse. Eclipse represents the main novelty of the 2011 range of Guerciotti, based on the priciples of NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING: selection of the best raw material, innovative production technology, italian design and quality, strict tests and quality control. NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING was conceived in 2008, when Guerciotti got back to playing a leading role at the Tour of Italy with Gilberto Simoni. The challenge of directing it s effort towards increasingly ambitious targets has helped Guerciotti in developing a series of projects of which the Simoni Replica of 2008 was only in it s embryonic stage. Michele Scarponi was the last exceptional tester, who was really active in giving birth to the project and who developed it together with the engineers of Guerciotti. The modifications introduced to the Replica Team in the Tour of Italy Limited Edition version used by Michele show the effectiveness and reliability of this project.

5 Con questo nuovo sistema RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TESTING Guerciotti si prefigge prima di tutto di scegliere i migliori materiali presenti sul mercato, attraverso un sistema di ricerca e studio qualità, scegliendo il perfetto mix tra le varie fibre per ottenere il massimo risultato possibile per l utilizzo a cui sono destinati With this new RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TESTING system, Guerciotti intends first of all to select the best materials available on the market using a quality search and study system, by selecting the perfect mix among the various fibers in order to obtain the best possible results for the intended use. Il progetto NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING introduce un innovativo sistema di fasciatura chiamato LIGHTNESS WRAPPED CARBON TECHNOLOGY, con il quale diventa fondamentale il posizionamento delle pelli, che è molto importante per dare le principali caratteristiche meccaniche al telaio. Le pelli vengono sovrapposte in modo da orientare più filamenti lungo le linee di sollecitazione. Infatti, intrecci e sovrapposizioni delle pelli in carbonio permettono di modificare il rendimento meccanico della struttura e di alcune part di esse. Elemento fondamentale è rappresentato dall estetica. Con questo nuovo sistema di fasciatura, si ottiene un telaio che esteticamente è come un monoscocca, senza più avere visibili i segni della lavorazione. L estetica così ben fatta è frutto di un laborioso e metodico sistema totalmente fatto a mano unito ad un particolare ed esclusivo procedimento di resinatura. The NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING project introduces an innovating wrapping system called LIGHTNESS WRAPPED CARBON TECHNOLOGY with which the positioning of carbon fiber skins assumes an essential role, as this is very important to give the frame its main mechanical characteristics. The skins are superimposed so as to orientate more filaments along the stress lines. In fact, by interweaving and superimposing carbon fiber skins it is possible to modify the mechanical efficiency of the structure and of some of its parts. Appearance represents an important element. With this new wrapping system it is possible to obtain a frame which in aesthetically is like a monocoque, no longer showing any working marks. Such a remarkable appearance is the result of an arduous and methodical system, completely hand made, combined with a particular and exclusive resin tapping process. Guerciotti introduce nella gamma 2011 il sistema CLS (Comfort-Lightness-Stiffness) CARBON DESIGN, che rappresenta lo studio del miglior design tale da aumentare le performance del telaio nelle parti più delicate ed importanti. Elementi fondamentali per un telaio di altissima gamma sono appunto il comfort nella guida associato comunque a leggerezza e rigidità. L obiettivo è infatti avere il più alto rapporto tra queste tre componenti. La realizzazione del particolare design dei posteriori verticali nel modello Eclipse ed Eureka è stato appunto studiato per conferire comfort, rigidità e leggerezza. La nervatura all interno del posteriore orizzontale di Eclipse serve a dare ulteriore resistenza a compressione e trazione al fodero, che si traduce in maggiore rigidità. In the 2011 range Guerciotti introduces the CLS (Comfort-Lightness-Stiffness) CARBON DESIGN system, which represents the study of the best design to increase the efficiency of the frame in its more delicate and important parts. In fact, the fundamental elements of a top of the range frame are the riding comfort associated in any case to lightness and stiffness. The objective is to obtain the best ratio between these three constituents. The particular design of the seat stays of the Eclipse and Eureka model was realized on the basis of the study aimed at giving comfort, lightness and stiffness. The ribbing inside the chain stays of Eclipse serves to convey greater resistance to compression and traction to the sheath which renders a greater stiffness. Nell innovativo modello Eclipse, viene introdotto un nuovo sistema di forcellini integrati. I forcellini sono in carbonio ed escono dallo stampo integrati al carro, non sono quindi incollati, mentre vengono fissati ai verticali mediante fasciatura. Agli stessi forcellini sono fissate delle placchette di protezione in alluminio anodizzate e quella destra fa anche da attacco cambio. In caso di caduta la sua particolare forma a forchetta riduce al minimo i casi in cui è necessaria la sua sostituzione, che resta comunque molto semplice. The new system of integrated drop-outs has been adopted for the new innovative Eclipse model. The drop-outs are made in carbon fiber and they come out from the mould already integrated in the rear/chainstay. They are therefore not glued but fixed to the vertical tubes by wrapping. Small protection plates in anodized aluminium are mounted on the drop-outs and the right drop-out is used to mount the gear. Its particular fork shape reduces to the bare minimum the need for its replacement in case of fall. the replacement, in any case, is extremely simple.

6 Eclipse rappresenta il primo prodotto nato dal nuovo progetto NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING. Il peso e la rigidità incredibile di Eclipse è stata possibile esclusivamente grazie ad accorgimenti fondamentali nella tecnica di customizzazione delle tubazioni e del design. Eclipse nei primi prototipi aveva un peso che si aggirava intorno agli 820 grammi (telaio verniciato). Studi e valutazioni effettuate tramite il CLS carbon design e il RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TESTING hanno spinto ad optare per l utilizzo di differenti sezioni per alcuni tubi e differenti fibre di carbonio nelle zone più nevralgiche, portando sicuramente ad un peso maggiore, ma ad una maggiore affidabilità. Ed il problema leggerezza / affidabilità e resistenza rappresenta appunto, oggi, uno dei limiti dei telai di alta gamma che il progetto NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING sta tentando di superare: telai sempre più leggeri ma con affidabilità e sicurezza altissima. Per Eclipse il carbonio utilizzato è Toray. Il tessuto esterno è 3K plain M49 della HEXCEL l unidirezionale all interno è M46 J dell Advanced. Questo prodotto arriva dall Inghilterra e rappresenta la fibra che conferisce la maggior parte delle caratteristiche di rigidità e robustezza al carro. Il tubo obliquo è un insieme di HR 40 e M64 materiali che conferiscono un notevole rigidità a torsione al tubo ed una ottima resistanza agli urti. L utilizzo della fibra HM46J, fibra UD, è presente solo nell obliquo per conferire più resistenza a torsione. Infatti in base a prove fatte in laboratorio e sui campi di gara, l obliquo è il tubo che, se ben realizzato, impedice il fastidioso effetto di vibrazione ad alte velocità. L utilizzo di materiali come l M46J e dell HM64 nella costruzione di Eclipse, permettono dei risultati altissimi tra cui, i più importanti, sono rappresentati dalla resistenza a trazione (210 kg/mm2) e quella a compressione (72.5 kg / mm2). L utilizzo di queste fibre per realizzare questi tubi permettono di ottenere dei valori di resistenza meccanica a trazione paragonabili ad un acciaio. Il loro utilizzo fa si che il telaio oltre alla notevole rigidità sia molto resistente agli urti ed alle sollecitazioni gravose. Tutto questo viene ottenuto a pressioni, in fase di cottura, intorno ai 6 bar con una conseguente estrazione di resina eccedente tale da aumentare notevolmente la percentuale di fibra nel composito. Eclipse represents the first product issued from the new NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING project. The weight and incredible stiffness of Eclipse has been made possible thanks to fundamental stratagems in the customizing technique of tubes and design. The first prototypes of Eclipse had a weight of approximately 820 grams (painted frame). Studies and assessments carried out by using the CLS Carbon Design and the RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TESTING had persuaded us to choose different sections for some tubes and different carbon fibers in the more crucial zones which surely increased the weight but offered greater reliability. It is precisely the lightness / reliability and resistance problem, which today represents one of the limits of the top of the range frames, that the NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING project is trying to overcome: increasingly lighter frames but with very high reliability and safety. The Carbon fiber used for Eclipse is Toray. The external fabric is 3K plain M49 produced by HEXCEL, the unidirectional inside is M46J produced by Advanced. This product comes from England and it represents the fiber which confers the greater part of the stiffness and solidity characteristics to the bottom bracket area. The oblique tube is a combination of HR40 and M64 materials which confer a great torsion stiffness to the tube and a high resustance to impacts. The HM46J fiber and of the UD fiber is used in the oblique tube to confer more resistance to torsion. In fact, based on the results of tests carried out in laboratories and in the field during racing events, when it is properly made, the oblique tube prevents the bothersome vibration effect at high speeds. The use of materials such as the M46J and the HM64 in the construction of the Eclipse allow to obtain very satisfactory results, the most important of which are the resistance to traction (210 kg/sqmm) and the resistance to compression (72,5 kg/sqmm). The use of these fibres to manufacture these tubes enables mechanical resistance to traction values which can be compared to those of a steel tube. By using them, besides having a considerable stiffness, the frame also becomes more resistant to impacts and to heavy stress. All this is obtained by pressure, during firing, at approximately 6 bar, with a consequent extraction of excess resin such as to increase the percentage of fiber in the compound.

7 Nella gamma 2011, Guerciotti ripropone il modello con cui si riaffacciò nel professionismo in punta di piedi nel 2004 con il Team LPR e con il quale oggi punta a dominare le scene internazionali del ciclismo professionistico. Una nuova era per l azienda Guerciotti, che vuole consolidare la sua posizione di mercato e che punta con forza e decisione a diventarne leader assoluto. L obiettivo dei tecnici Guerciotti è stato quello di ottenere un telaio per tutti i tipi di consumatori (come il team replica), ma con peso notevolmente inferiore ed una rigidità superiore nelle zone sterzo, movimento centrale e posteriore verticale. Per ottenere il miglior prodotto possibile si è applicato il modello FEA (Five Forces Finite Element Analysis) per simulare gli sforzi e le tensioni statiche ad ogni elemento del telaio. Questo ha aiutato nel progettare telaio e forcella che rispettano ottimi requisiti di rigidità torsionale, resistenza agli urti, sicurezza e leggerezza. Inoltre, per progettare l ottima performance di dinamica di Eureka è stato applicato il sistema di misurazione e analisi dinamica (DMA) Somat 2100 per analizzare la relazione tra velocità e tempo durante la condizione di guida. Eureka è costruito utilizzando carbonio High Modulus SHM. Applicando il RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TE- STING si sono scelte le migliori fibre di carbonio presenti sul mercato tra cui la IM600 e la UM40 Eureka rappresenta un ottimo compromesso tra forma importante del telaio e buona leggerezza, grazie all applicazione dei concetti del CLS carbon design. Si è così optato per la soluzione dei soli cavi interni nel tubo orizzontale, per non appesantire ulteriormente il telaio. Si è quindi cercato, con questa opzione, di non rinunciare all eleganza estetica senza tralasciare l argomento leggerezza, che rappresenta sempre l aspetto più importante. Lo stesso design dei posteriori verticali ricalca i concetti fondamentali cardini di NO LIMIT CARON ENGI- NEERING, da cui è nato il modello Eclipse. In the 2011 range, Guerciotti reproposes the model with which the Company reappeared on tiptoes in professional circuit with the LPR Team and with which today it intends to dominate the international scene of professional bicycle racing. A new era for the Guerciotti Company which wishes to consolidate its market position and which will direct all its efforts with determination towards becoming a market leader. The objective of the Guerciotti engineers was to obtain a frame suitable for all types of consumers (like the team replica), but considerably lighter in weight and with a greater stiffness in the steering, bottom bracket and rear vertical areas. To obtain the best possible product we have applied the FEA model (Five Forces Finite Element Analysis) to simulate the efforts and static tensions on each frame element. This helped in designing the frame and fork which fulfil the high requirements of torsional stiffness, resistance to impact, safety and lightness. Moreover, in order to design the excellent dynamic performance of Eureka we have applied the measurement and dynamic analysis system (DMA) Somat 2100 to analyse the relation between speed and time during riding conditions. Eureka is built by using carbon High Modulus HSM. By applying the RAW MATERIAL QUALITY TESTING the best carbon fibers available on the market have been used, among which the IM600 and the UM40. Eureka represents an excellent compromise between an important frame form and a good lightness, thanks to the concept of the CLS carbon design. We have therefore opted for the solution of placing only the internal cables inside the top tube so as not to increase still further the weight of the frame. With this option, we have tried to preserve an elegant appearance without neglecting the lightness feature, which always represents the most important aspect. Even the design of the seat stays follow the same fundamental concepts of NO LIMIT CARBON ENGINEERING, which gave birth to the Eclipse model.
