54 OLIVIO ARGENTI FRPS Fellow Royal Photographic Society Nasce a Brescia nel Si laurea in Economia a Londra specializzandosi in Economia Agra ria ad Oxford. Successivamente vive in Ecuador, Venezuela ed Algeria per otto anni. Dal 1990 risiede a Roma dove si occupa di problemi di sviluppo agricolo e viaggia a più di cinquanta paesi. Si interessa principalmente di reportage sociale, di fotografia di strada, di viaggio e della sua fotografia personale. Le sue opere sono state esposte in China, Colombia, Germania, Italia, Perù, Regno Unito, Svizzera e Tunisia. Ha ricevuto premi internazionali e pubblicato vari libri tra cui: Atrapados. Violenza in famiglia e comportamento deviante dei giovani di Lima; Wrestlers [Lottatori] e Wrestling [Lotta], una visione personale della lotta olimpica, presentati durante i Giochi Olimpici del 2008 a Pechino; Traits d union, un racconto di fotografia di strada in Tunisia; Vittime di un conflitto dimenticato, un reportage sulle condizioni di vita delle vittime del conflitto per il Nagorno-Karabakh; La bellezza della memoria, sulla dimensione artistica nei cimiteri latinoamericani; A slightly different path than you, un reportage sugli atleti diversamente abili; e Batallón de Sanidad, un reportage sui giovani soldati dell armata colombiana feriti dalle mine o in battaglia. Il libro Atrapados, con il quale ha ottenuto la Fellowship Distinction della Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) nel 2010, ed il relativo video, sono nella Collezione della RPS presso il National Media Museum di Bradford (UK). È Fellow della RPS e membro delle giurie delle Distinctions della RPS, categorie Contemporary e Multimedia. È Presidente del «Capitolo Italiano della Royal Photographic Society» (CIRPS) ( ed organizza Distinctions Advisory Days in Italia dove è lettore di portfolios. Born in Italy in 1955, he lives in the UK for eight years where he graduates in Economics (University of London) and in Agricultural Economics (University of Oxford). He then lives in Ecuador, Venezuela and Algeria for eight years. Since 1990 he works in Rome as Agricultural Economist. He travels to more than fifty countries. He is interested in social reportage, travel and street photography, and in his own personal photography. His work has been exhibited in China, Colombia, Germany, Italy, Peru, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Tunisia. He has received international awards and has published various books among which: Atrapados [No way out] - Family violence and juvenile deviant behaviour in Lima; Wrestlers and Wrestling, a personal view on the world of Olympic wrestling, exhibited in Beijing during the 2008 Olympic Games; Traits d union, a street-photography project in Tunisia; Losers of a forgotten conflict, a reportage on the living conditions of the victims of the conflict for the Nagorno-Karabakh; The beauty of memory, on the artistic dimensions in Latin American cemeteries; A slightly different path than you, a reportage on athletes with different abilities; and Batallón de Sanidad, a reportage on young Colombian soldiers hurt by mines or with serious injuries. The book Atrapados received the Fellowship Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) in 2010 and together with its related vi deo is in the Collection of the RPS at the National Media Museum of Bradford (UK). He is Fellow of the RPS, member of the Contemporary and Multimedia Distinctions Panels of the RPS and President of the Italian Chapter of the Royal Photographic Society (CIRPS) ( He organizes Distinctions Advisory Days in Italy where he discusses portfolios. 107
