3 L uomo primitivo cercava, fin dai suoi primi passi, di utilizzare tutti gli oggetti che la natura metteva a sua disposizione. Ci sono tracce di monili e manufatti di conchiglie fin dai tempi più remoti. La documentazione di commerci di conchiglie in tribù lontane centinaia di chilometri dal mare chiarisce bene l importanza che fin dai tempi più remoti l uomo desse a questi oggetti. E facile pensare, ed è naturalmente documentato, che ne ricavasse monili di tutti i generi e strumenti di lavoro, come raschiatoi, pettini, ami e punte di frecce, punteruoli e altro ancora. Di questi sviluppi, mi garantisce lo Staff del Progetto, daremo documentazione didattica in altri volumetti. Qui vorrei solo descrivere l uso delle conchiglie come strumenti a fiato. Mi sono trovato ad organizzare, con gli amici dell Ensamble di Fiati Corus Orphei, alcune manifestazioni musicali, già descritte in altri lavori della sezione Esperienze: Le conchiglie nella Musica (copertina verde). 6 Anche in questa occasione ho fatto seguire il concerto da una mostra di conchiglie utilizzate nel campo musicale. Il materiale esposto tende ad accrescersi di volta in volta adeguandosi anche alle dimensioni e alla tipologia dei locali messi a disposizione. 7 Una novità è venuta dall iniziativa dei maestri di provare a suonare le conchiglie esposte e la cosa li ha molto dilettati: chi meglio di esperti di strumenti a fiato per provare questi antichissime trombe?
