Dai classici impianti idraulici ai modernissimi gearless: 30 anni di innovazione nel cuore della Brianza. From classic hydraulic lifts to ultramodern gearless systems: thirty years of innovation in the heart of northern Italy. Tutto nasce nel 1969 a Mezzago, nel cuore della Brianza, con una piccola azienda che realizza porte, cabine e componenti per ascensori. Si tratta però di una realtà artigianale che, come tale, è in grado di soddisfare le esigenze di un mercato per lo più locale. Per crescere ed espandersi su altri mercati, è indispensabile una modernizzazione di impianti e processi. La svolta arriva nel 1987, quando Cesare Centoducati decide di rinnovare completamente gli ambienti di lavoro e, soprattutto, di meccanizzare la produzione introducendo le macchine a controllo numerico, per trasformare la piccola impresa artigianale in una vera e propria industria. Si tratta di una bella sfida, che viene raccolta con entusiasmo dai figli di Cesare, Donatella e Stefano, entrati in azienda nel 90 e nel 91: nasce così la Costruzioni Meccaniche Mezzago, che fin dall inizio si caratterizza per la forte spinta a investire nell innovazione tecnologica per ridurre i costi e al tempo stesso migliorare la qualità dei materiali e l efficienza energetica degli impianti, prestando la massima attenzione alle richieste dei clienti. Un innovazione che si concretizza nella costante introduzione di nuovi componenti come diversi tipi di porte (automatiche a una o più ante o con VVVF, stagne, circolari, tagliafuoco) e soprattutto nella messa a punto di impianti sempre più moderni e diversificati in base alla loro destinazione. Nel 1996, CMM presenta sia gli impianti idraulici sia quelli a fune completi e, da quel momento, continua a svilupparli e offrirli entrambi accogliendo via via i nuovi stimoli che vengono dal mercato. Così nel 2000 vengono presentati i primi impianti a fune con moderna tecnologia MRL, mentre nel 2004 nasce l impianto idraulico Dreamlift per edifici preesistenti, con testata e fossa ridotta. Gli impianti a fune vengono poi ulteriormente perfezionati con l introduzione su larga scala, nel 2006, della macchina gearless, il cui vantaggio è quello di occupare uno spazio ancora più ridotto e di diminuire notevolmente il consumo energetico. L ultima evoluzione di questa tecnologia è rappresentata oggi dalla linea MRL LIFT ME con macchina gearless, con portata fino a 4000 kg, perfetta per qualsiasi uso: commerciale, pubblico, residenziale o industriale. Senza dimenticare, nel settore residenziale, la nuova tendenza dell home lift, che negli ultimi anni va sempre più affermandosi per rispondere alle esigenze del mercato delle ristrutturazioni. E così, dopo 30 anni, la visione di Cesare, Donatella e Stefano risulta ancora vincente: l apertura alle richieste del mercato e la spinta all innovazione sono state motore di una crescita costante, che ha portato CMM a espandersi oltre i confini nazionali. Oggi le esportazioni coprono il 60% della produzione e gli impianti e i componenti CMM sono presenti in oltre 30 paesi in Europa e nel mondo. It all began in 1969 in the northern Italian city of Mezzago, in the heart of Brianza, with a small company that manufactured doors, cars, and components for elevators to satisfy the needs of a merely local market. To grow and expand into new markets, the company would need to modernize its systems and processes. The turning point came in 1987, when Cesare Centoducati decided to completely renew the company s workspace and, above all, to mechanize production by introducing computer numerical control (CNC) machines: he aimed to turn his small, handcrafted business into a modern factory. His daughter Donatella and his son Stefano, who joined the company in 1990 and 1991, enthusiastically took up the challenge, and CMM (Costruzioni Meccaniche Mezzago) was born. From the very beginning the company was deeply committed to investing in technological innovation to reduce costs while improving both material quality and energy efficiency, with the highest attention to customers needs. This drive to innovate resulted in the continual introduction of new components, such as different kinds of doors: automatic doors with one or more panels; doors with VVVF (variable voltage variable frequency) control; waterproof, round, or fire-resistant doors. Above all, though, it meant developing increasingly modern systems tailored to their specific purpose. In 1996 CMM presented both the complete hydraulic lift and the traction lift, which have since evolved further in response to new requests from the market. In 2000 the company introduced the first modern MRL (machine room-less) traction elevators, and in 2004 the hydraulic Dreamlift was born, meant for preexisting buildings and characterized by reduced headroom height and pit depth. In 2006 the company further improved traction elevators by widely introducing the gearless machine, which has the advantages of occupying even less room and significantly reducing energy consumption. The most recent evolution of this technology is represented by the MRL LIFT ME line, whose gearless machines can carry loads of up to 4,000 kg, making them perfect for any use: commercial, public, residential, or industrial. Additional change is apparent in the residential sector, where the new trend of installing home lifts has become increasingly popular in the last few years to meet the needs of the renovation industry. After thirty years, the vision of Cesare, Donatella and Stefano still proves successful: their openness to the market s requests and their drive to innovate have promoted constant growth, allowing CMM to expand beyond its national borders. Exports today comprise 60 percent of production, and CMM elevators and components are installed in more than thirty countries in Europe and around the world. 4 5
