«This document is not intended as a sterile position. Is placed rather as an attempt to open a direct dialogue between our students and teachers, interview of which we feel the need and hope to be accepted with an open mind. We feel a moral duty to establish this teacher- student ratio for having found the lack at least in the terms we need». 17 gennaio 1963
«We feel the need for teaching the fundamentals of our Faculty (Composition, Urban Planning, Furniture), those that have the greatest impact and determine our training, become responsive to our needs for future designers, to a professional modernisation and research. We do not consider teaching a fruitful unless directed to these endsthe design and resolution of issues so far allocated in the fundamental teachings have not responded to these our needs. The subjects were given an invitation to immediately proceed with the design, without the opportunity to discuss the validity and assess the contribution of education. [...] We want education to be such, and not just an inspection of the attempts we operated, a teaching that does not end in a series of instrumental tests. We wish to carry out, before moving to the instrumental realization, a research activity, in our opinion essential moment for a good design.»
«We want a more fruitful conversation with his assistants, whose efforts should not be limited to occasional revisions, but also and above all be aimed at the coordination of research and the integration thereof. We wish to carry out the work of the group, in groups chosen by us and not dictated from the outset on a team with an assistant also imposed. We would like to have more free time to carry out, in collaboration with professors and assistants, the research activities in order to enrich our cultural training [..] We wish that every time you assign a topic ( the inalienable right of the professor ) are the reasons discussed the assignment.» 17 gennaio 1963

The Faculty of Architecture is occupied by students from Thursday After a long agitation remained without recognition by the academic authorities have occupied the faculty. We are striving to be responsible for our training. We Night for a democratic manager against an authoritarian structure. Our teachers today are not willing to share with others the executive power of teaching and research. The current structure gives students only duties, no rights. [ ] The democratic system of colleges is the Nirst time for the transformation of our university. 14 febbraio 1963
«L Espresso» 3.3.1963 «Last year, seventy projects of the second course of composition were corrected in two hours and a quarter from a teacher that students had seen only the day of the inaugural address. To get on to talk about the orientation of the houses, another professor for four lessons, he explained to the student what are the solstices and equinoxes. In addition, the research set by the course of the Distribution Characters of various buildings of public utility, was reduced mostly to a catalog of solutions. Each student study touched only a small portion of a hospital, who was assigned to a cabinet of ophthalmology [...] Finally, the plan of inter Milan which includes 130 municipalities, the University of Milan which is the nursery of future architects and planners, it has never been mentioned. [...] Starting from the idea that these buildings no longer meet the needs of society the students ask for a discussion with the teachers. To rebuff the owner of Composition [ Antonio Cassi Ramelli ] February 4 is announced a week of total strike and active, not so much of protests and complaints, as proposals».

«You have to get out of this narrow framework of the ofnicial culture and academic and realize that those are the real transformation of Italy and the modern world. And [this] to the more selnish among the aspirations of the contemporary architect can make their own: the ambition to be the star of a reality full of everyday macroscopic changes, claiming to not be reduced to the position of Cassandra [...] while the forces productive, even the same ruling class of Italian politics, certainly not revolutionary in its nature, studies, proposes and implements interventions that have a scale and a dynamic push and courage far superior to those phenomena that usually illustrate our magazines». [Aldo Rossi, Luciano Semerani, Silvano Tintori] RUOLO DELL ARCHITETTO ROLE OF THE ARCHITECT
"We want the watershed must be determined not so much by the adjective modern, that in a formal sense does not mean anything, as the adjective that has engaged in a civil sense meaning: still engaged in wanting to change the reality, not acceding to more spontaneously, but critically examining and choosing the forces that want to transform this reality; undertaken to identify the economic means and the organizational forms suited to the changes that are to be achieved; committed to develop an expressive language [...] determined by a more complex relationship between architecture and urban planning». «Yes, I'm aware of having always struggled with my painting, as a true revolutionary. But now I understand that this may not even be enough. These years of terrible oppression have shown me that I have to Night not only with my art, but with all myself...» P. Picasso
«Today I am happy because I have always had a passion to teach, because this gives me a way to renew and that is to keep learning. And there is no food that is more invigorating than the young. Of this conception of the school, outside the anachronistic academic schemes, interpreters have become students of almost all Italian universities; but it should be made about the students of the Faculty of Architecture in Milan which were among the forerunners, a year ago, with a gesture to the active renewal. It's no use denying that these young people, although some cross-indulgence (but can a young be able to exercise the wisdom of the old?) these young people-say-have felt the urgent need to enter the school in the democratic life.»
Conoscere il passato è come conoscere i nostri padri, è capir meglio perché siamo così, perché essendo Nigli, siamo diversi, siamo simili per essere diversi» «We have to study the past to bring it to us, is very useful, is essential to this effort to enrich our consciousness. Buy a sense of history to us and give meaning to our works; we will understand better the reasons why we have to be different, for which we must each be ourselves. Knowing the past is how to know our fathers, you understand better why we are so, because they are the children, we are different, We like to be different» E.N. Rogers
