Thoracic Surgery Ospedale San Paolo Bari Guidance for the video conference T he aim of our video conference is to facilitate discussion among expert practitioners who will be present in the two lecture halls (please note that because of the different time zones, the connection during the afternoon of the first day will be with the United States and the connection during the morning of the second day will be with Japan). More importantly, the video conference will allow other experts to be updated by distributing the recording of the conference or watching the conference online. During the video conference the speakers will present their speeches in English. However, Italians speakers will talk in their own language. A simultaneous translation service will guarantee a equal scientific discussion. The video recording of the conference will be available in both languages, English and Italian. For the purpose of the Meeting among the Experts, the most important part of the video conference is the discussion that will be lead by the Moderators and is anticipated to last about 50% of the conference time. Each speaker will need to present their assigned update in no longer than ten minutes. Following this the Discussant will then be able to have a question and answer session. For this reason the various speeches need to be sent to Elle Center Bari, the organising company, at least thirty days before the conference to the following email address elle@ellecenter.it In this way the speeches can be sent to the Discussants and Moderators and they can be adequately organised by our technicians for the video recording. The Discussant and Moderators can intervene during the sessions dedicated to the discussions but they have to follow the topic shown by the speakers without using slides or movies. Please note that, in order to guarantee a good technical result, it is important that all the slides contain a light font in a dark background and that there are no animations. However photos and movies can be used. The slides should be sent to paolosardelli@gmail.com with deadline of October 25, 2011. If you have any queries about how to send the files of the speeches via the Internet, which may be large file size, please do not hesitate to contact Doctor Paolo Sardelli. Linee guida per la videoconferenza L e due giornate della videoconferenza sono state concepite con l intento di realizzare un confronto tra gli specialisti presenti nelle due aule (NOTA: per problemi di fuso orario, il pomeriggio del primo giorno il collegamento è con gli Stati Uniti, il mattino successivo con il Giappone), ma soprattutto di consentire l aggiornamento professionale attraverso la video registrazione della conferenza e la sua immissione sulla rete web. Durante la video conferenza i vari Relatori presenteranno le loro diapositive in lingua inglese, ma gli Italiani parleranno la loro lingua. Un servizio di traduzione simultanea consentirà un confronto scientifico paritetico. La video registrazione sarà a disposizione in inglese ed in italiano. La parte più importante della video conferenza, secondo lo spirito degli Incontri tra Specialisti, è rappresentata dalla discussione che deve essere gestita dai Moderatori e dai Discussant e che occupa circa il 50% del tempo previsto dalla manifestazione. I Relatori hanno il compito di presentare in dieci minuti, non oltre, l update sull argomento assegnato. Sarà poi compito dei Discussant, coordinati dai Moderatori, animare il confronto. Per questo motivo le varie relazioni dovranno pervenire alla segreteria organizzativa, Elle Center di Bari (elle@ellecenter.it), almeno trenta giorni prima della data stabilita per la conferenza, in modo tale che possano essere inviate ai vari Discussant e ai Moderatori e preparate adeguatamente dai nostri tecnici per la video registrazione. Nelle sessioni dedicate alla discussione i Discussant, coordinati dai Moderatori, possono intervenire anche più volte nel corso del dibattito, ma devono attenersi, in modo critico, ai contenuti esposti dai Relatori, senza presentare diapositive o filmati. Per conseguire un buon risultato tecnico è indispensabile che le diapositive presentate contengano caratteri chiari su sfondo scuro, prive di animazioni, ma con eventuali foto o filmati. Le diapositive devono essere inviate a paolosardelli@gmail.com entro il 25 ottobre 2011. Per inviare i file delle presentazioni, anche di quelli particolarmente pesanti, la Segreteria Elle Center è a Vostra disposizione per fornirvi le modalità di spedizione via internet.
