5 Ulla Greenwood (AUS) Sono un avvocato e sono riuscita a trasformare l inetresse per i cani di razza in una gratifi cante passione che dura ormai da molti anni. Ho incluso nelle mie prime linee di whippet Taejaan alcuni soggetti importati dagli Stati Uniti in comproprietà. Negli ultimi sei anni ho importato tre whippet dall allevamento svedese Twyborn che ho unito con successo alle mie linee Piaffe allevate da me per vent anni. Ch Twyborn Innocense è al momento vincitore di diverse riserve di best in show in speciali di razza. Per quanto riguarda gli afghani ho acquistato il mio primo cane quando avevo dodici anni. Ch Hanrovia Kusan Columbia che è stato Royal e diverse volte vincitore di gruppi. Ho avuto un altro paio di afgani dell allevamento Hanrovia negli anni ottanta e poi ho acquistato Gran Ch Khandu Andretti all età di tre mesi. Suo padre era Ch, Xenos Joselito (imp Italia). Andretti è stato un cane che ha vinto molto, Bob alla SydneyRoyal e Numero 4 su tutto il gruppo Hound all età di due anni. Abbiamo allevato una cucciolata usando lui con il nostro affi sso Piaffe. Poi ho esposto con successo alcuni cani Quom e altri Kingsleah. Oggi vive con noi Aust Sup Ch Jacosta Return of the Phoenix (im Svezia) in comproprietà con Harold Greensill, che è stato ormai ritirato dai ring dopo aver vinto molteplici Bis e gruppi in Autralia. Mi piace vedere in tutti i levrieri un bilanciamento ed un movimento corretto, combinato alle individuali caratteristiche della razza. I am a lawyer by background and have found my interest in purebred dogs to be an abiding and most satisfying interest. My original Taejaan whippet lines have been complemented by the whippets I have imported from the USA in partnership. Over the last 6 years I have imported 3 whippets from the Twyborn Kennel in Sweden that I have successfully introduced into my Piaffe lines of more than 20 years standing. Ch Twyborn Innocense (Imp Swe) is currently a multi Runner Up in Specialty Show winner. On the afghan hound front, I acquired my fi rst afghan when I was just 12 years old. Ch Hanrovia Kusan Columbia was a Royal and Multi Group winner. I had a few more afghans from Hanrovia during the 80s and then acquired Grand Ch Khandhu Andretti as a 3 month old puppy. His sire was Ch Xenos Joselito ( Imp Italy). He was a most rewarding show dog, winning BOB at the Sydney Royal and No 4 in the Hound Group at just 2 years. We bred one litter by him under the Piaffe prefi x. In addition we have owned and campaigned a number of Quom afghans and one Kingsleah afghan. I currently own Aust Sup Ch Jacosta Return of the Phoenix (Imp Swe) in partnership with Harold Greensill. Now retired, this dog was a multi BIS and Hound Group winner in Australia. I am particularly interested in seeing correct balance and movement in sighthounds whilst maintaining individual breed hallmarks. I am currently a director and Vice President of our governing body, Canine Control Council (QLD) Ltd, and Secretary of two All Breeds Clubs. Roberta Hall (UK) Saxonmill Afghan Hounds I levrieri afgani sono sempre stati una parte molto importante della mia vita e sono felice di poter affermare che lo sono ancora! Questa razza mi appartiene fi n dalla metà degli anni sessanta, e ho avuto la mia prima cucciolata nel Fu però nel 1976, quando acquistai la mia femmina capostipite, CH Sacheverell Kanikaat Saxonmill una fi glia CH Koolaba Horningsea Eboni Earl, che ebbe inizio veramente la mia storia. Avevo sempre ammirato l allevamento Horningsea e mi consideravo fortunata ad avere una loro discendente. E lei alla base del mio piccolo ma infl uente allevamento. Dal 1976 ho allevato sette generazioni consecutive di Campioni Saxonmill con l ottavo che sta per chiudere il campionato e 24 campioni in totale. Il mio allevamento ha vinto quasi 200 CC, ha avuto 4 vincitori di gruppo allevati in casa, diversi vincitori di CC e riserva CC, multi vincitori di Best in show nelle speciali, un doppio Best in Show e una riserva Best in Show. Le stelle del mio allevamento includono i campioni Black Currant, Rum TumTigger, JellicleJett, Rum Tum Rio, Star Struck, Rocket Man, Midnight Majic e, più recentemente,il maschio top 2015 e la femmina top 2016, CH Garamond JuniperberrySaxonmill (una nipote di Rum Tum Rio), il top juniores 2016 Rum Tum Ricochet, appartenente all ottava generazione Saxonmill. Questi hanno accumulato il top Levriero Afgano, il top maschio, la top femmina, la top fattrice, il top stallone e infi ne Jellicle Jettche è stata proclamata la miglior fattrice su tutte le razze per due anni consecutivi e sua fi glia, Star Struck appena dietro. Due delle mie cucciolate hanno prodotto cinque campioni del Regno Unito ciascuna, un record. Saxonmill è stato l allevamento top del Regno Unito per diversi anni e, anche se si tratta di un piccolo allevamento, ha prodotto dei cani che hanno avuto un impatto infl uente sulla razza negli anni 80, 90, 00, 10 fi no ad oggi. Al momento è appena nata la nona generazione (novembre 2016) da Ricochet e Juniperberry, secondo me una combinazione interessante. Mi considero un allevatore che ha a cuore l interesse della razza. Allevo di generazione in generazionecercando di preservare il tipo e migliorare. Studio molto attentamentei pedigree e i coeffi cienti di inbreeding e allevo soltanto quando voglio tenere qualcosa per me. Non ho inseguito i record preferendo allevare e portando in esposizione senza strafare perché ho voluto dare sempre più importanza al benessere dei miei cani. Posso affermare che il mio allevamento è stato probabilmente quello

6 Roberta Hall (UK) Saxonmill Afghan Hounds di maggior successo nel Regno Unito, in particolare tenuto conto dell esiguo numero di cucciolate ed è l unico ad avere nove generazioni di riproduzione sulla stessa linea di sangue ottenendo il maggior numero di Campioni fatti in casa rispetto ad altri allevamenti (non sono una che gioca coi numeri)! Sebbene allevi seguendo un tipo specifi co apprezzo tutti i tipi e riconosco e apprezzo la qualità a prescindere dal patrimonio genetico. Riconosco che c è stato un cambiamento epocale nella nostra razza nel corso degli ultimi 20 anni, ma è sempre stata mia intenzione quella di mantenere le caratteristiche della razza e non seguire le mode. Sono stata coinvolta attivamente con i club di razza ed ho avuto il mio ruolo sia come Presidente sia come membro del consiglio. Oggi preferisco allevare e presentare i miei cani e lasciare che siano gli altri a svolgere il duro lavoro nel Club. La mia carriera come giudice è iniziata a metà degli anni 70 ed è culminata con il Crufts nel Ho giudicato in Europa, Scandinavia, Sud Africa, Stati Uniti e Australia. Sono riconosciuta come specialista di razza ed ho preferito rimanere all interno dellastessa. Incoraggio i neofi ti con convegni e seminari, poiché ritengo che la conoscenza sia fondamentale per mantenere il levriero afgano fedele al suo patrimonio. Afghan Hounds have been a very large part of my life forever and I m pleased to say they still are! I have been owned by the breed since the mid sixties, breeding my fi rst litter in However it was not until 1976, when I acquired my foundation bitch, CH- SacheverellKanika at Saxonmill a CHKoolaba Horningsea Eboni Earl daughter, that my story really starts. I had long admired the Horningsea kennel and considered myself fortunate to have a descendant from them. She forms the basis of my small but infl uential kennel, today. Since 1976 there have been seven generations of consecutive,saxonmill Champions with the eighth on its way and 24 Champions in all. My kennel has won nearly 200 CC s, have had 4 homebred group winners, multiple CC and reserve CC winners,multiple speciality best in show winners, a double general best in show winner and reserve best in show winner. Stars from my kennel include Champions, Black Currant, Rum Tum Tigger, Jellicle Jett, Rum Tum Rio, Star Struck, Rocket Man, Midnight Majic and more recently the top afghan 2015 and top bitch 2016, CH Garamond JuniperberrySaxonmill( a Rum Tum Rio granddaughter), top junior 2016 Rum Tum Ricochet, the eighth generation Saxonmill. These have accumulated, top Afghan Hound, top male, top female, top brood bitch, top stud dog with JellicleJett achieving the top brood bitch all breeds for 2 consecutive years and herdaughter, Star Struck runner up at a later date. Two of my litters have produced fi ve UK Champions in each, a record for the UK. Saxonmill has been the top UK breeder for a number of years and although a small producing kennel have produced Afghans that have had an infl uential impact on the breed through the 80 s, 90 s,00 s,10 s and onto present day. We currently have the ninth generation just born ( November 2016) from Ricochet and Juniperberry, an exciting combination in our view. I consider myself a breeder with the interests of the breed at heart. I breed down the generations looking to preserve type and improve. I have a keen interest in pedigrees and inbreeding coeffi cients and only breed when I want something for myself. I have not pursued records, preferring to breed and show sensibly with the well-being of my hounds paramount. I can say that my kennel has probably been the most successful in the UK, particularly given the number of litters and the only one to have nine generations of successive line breeding and have more homebred Champions than other kennels(i really don t play the numbers game)! Although I breed to a specifi c type I do appreciate all types and recognise and appreciate quality irrespective of heritage. I recognise that there has been a sea change in our breed over the last 20 years but it has always been my view to keep true to the breed characteristics and not embark on fads or fashion. I have been actively involved with breed clubs and have done my stint on breed clubs as Chairman and have been involved in the breed council. I now prefer to breed and show my dogs and let others take the hard work at Club level. My judging career started in the mid seventies and culminated with Crufts in I have judged in Europe, Scandinavia, South Africa, USA and Australia. I am recognised as a breed specialist and have preferred to keep to my own breed. I encourage new comers into the breed by giving breed lectures and seminars, as I believe that education is all important in keeping the Afghan hound true to its heritage. Jamie Souza Bartlett (USA) Limerick Mia madre ha ricevuto il suo primo Irish Wolfhound da mia nonna circa 40 anni fa, quando avevo 2 anni, e da allora sono stata coinvolta ed innamorata della razza. La prima volta che sono entrata in un ring da esposizione con un Irish Wolfhound è stato alla NCIWC specialty nel 1984 e da allora sono stata impegnata attivamente nell allevamento e nell esposizione dei nostri Irish Wolfhound Limerick. Nel 1986 ho ricevuto il mio primo Whippet e continuo ad occuparmi di questa razza con lo stesso affi sso. Da bambina e da ragazza ho dedicato il mio tempo libero alle attività con i cani. Ho lavorato 4 anni per Patricia Trotter (Craige) dei famosi Elkhound Vin Melca e dopo la terza media andai a lavorare per Mary Dukes probabilmente l handler di Whippet più famoso al mondo. A parte questo impegnativo lavoro nei week-end, mi sono occupata molto di junior handling presentando Whippet, Irish Wolfhound e Saluki. Nel 1992 ho conseguito il titolo di California Junior Handler of the Year e nel 1993 vinsi le World Series di Junior Handling e fui mandata sia al Crufts, sia all esposizione mondiale come rappresentante degli USA. In entrambe le competizioni ho presentato un Irish Wolfhound, avendo l onore nella seconda di poter presentare l infl uente Int BL NL Ch Quincy of Kilmara. My mother received her fi rst Irish Wolfhound from my grandmother nearly 40 years ago when I was 2, and I have been I involved and in love with the breed ever since. The fi rst time I entered the show ring with an IW was at the NCIWC specialty in 1984, and I have been actively involved with the breeding and handling of our Limerick Irish Wolfhounds from that time. In 1986, I received my fi rst Whippet and continue to be active in that breed under the same kennel name. As a child and teenager, I devoted all of my extra time to the sport of dogs. I worked for Patricia Trotter (Craige) of Vin Melca Norwegian Elkhound fame for four years, and when I was in eighth grade, I went to work for Mary Dukes - arguably the world s most famous Whippet handler. Aside from this challenging weekend work, I also become deeply involved in junior handling presenting Whippets, Irish Wolfhounds and Salukis. In 1992, I was awarded California Junior Handler of the Year, and in 1993, I won the World Series of Junior Handling and was sent to both Crufts and the World Show as a representative of the US. I presented an Irish Wolfhound at both of those competitions, the latter of which I was given the honor of showing the infl uential Int BL NL Ch Quincy of Kilmara. At this same show, I coordinated the breeding of Quincy s sister to our Noll, the product of which became Limerick s fi rst all-breed Best In Show winner and producer of our fi rst National Specialty winner in My mother and I have campaigned our Irish Wolfhounds to Number One in 12 of the last 24 years, and my mom, grandmother and I were honored to be named as the 2013 AKC Hound Group Breeder of the Year, an accomplishment of which we are especially proud. In 43 years, we have produced only 16 litters and as breeders we have always challenged ourselves to produce the highest quality dogs in a limited number of breedings. More recently, I have changed my focus to judging. Approved for a handful of hounds, this has allowed me to maintain my love for the sport of dogs while giving me the time to focus on my young family and career. I am deeply honored to be judging in Europe for the fi rst time. Thank you for the privilege. (N) Xploring Non sono cresciuta in una cassa parto così come molti altri impegnati in cinofi - lia. Era una fi glia del famoso maschio tedesco Sirokko von Katwiga, allevato dalla vecchie linee di sangue van de Oranje Manege di Eta Pauptit. Camici ebbe ottimi risultati nei ring d esposizione e divenne il più giovane Afghano in Norvegia a conseguire il titolo Internazionale. Fu la top winner fra gli Afghani nel 1979 e Best in Show al Raduno Afghani di Skokloster in Svezia nel Nel corso degli anni a seguire ho allevato un totale di 9 cucciolate da Camici e dalle sue fi glie. Talvolta allevai riprendendo le vecchie linee vdom, ma ho anche dato alle mie femmine cani di linee di sangue completamente differenti, scandinave, americane e australiane. Camici era stata allevata secondo uno stretto line-breeding ed era una fattrice molto dominante e la maggior parte dei suoi fi gli e nipoti avevano il tipo distintivo dei vdom, sebbene molti di essi fossero più raffi nati. Ho allevato anche due cucciolate di Greyhound dall Int.Ch. Jet s Ginger Ale, che hanno prodotto molti soggetti di successo nei ring. Sebbene non abbia oggi più Afghani, questa razza avrà sempre un posto speciale nel mio cuore. Sono sempre un pò preoccupata quando faccio visita ad amici che hanno cuccioli, potrei facilmente essere convinta a portarne a casa uno non mi fi do completamente di me stessa! Dopo più di quindici anni con solo maschi (presto arrivò un fi glio di «Dior») capii quanto mi mancasse il ruolo di allevatore ed importai una femmina dall allevamento Barnesmore nell Irlanda del Nord (Int Ch Barnesmore Luck O The Irish, una del BOB al Crufts, Catchacre Tiger Lily of Barnesmore) e iniziai ancora una volta ad allevare ed in tal modo ho allevato dieci cucciolate con il prefi sso Xploring. Oggi condivido la mia casa (ed il letto) con cinque Whippet: le vecchie signore Int Ch Barnesmore Luck O the Irish («Sessan», 12), N S Ch. WW-08 Sandline Firstlady («Bisquit», 10,5) e Nord. Ch. DW- 11 Xploring Going Bananas («Cookie», 10), il fi glio di «Cookie s» (da Ch Play A While Nokia) N S Ch NJW-2014 NOR- DW-2015 Xploring Calling Elvis («Ludo», 3,5) e suo fi glio Xploring Moody Blue (da N DK Ch Xploring Ain t She Sweet, 9 mesi). Il modo del tutto migliore di imparare classi numerose, tipi differenti, toelettature e handling grandiosi e, cosa più importante, interessanti discussioni con esperti allevatori che condividono volentieri le proprie esperienze! Dal 1987 sono qualifi cata per giudicare tutte le razze levriere. Da allora ho avuto il piacere di giudicare levrieri, oltre che nel mio paese d origine, la Svezia, (inclusi gli Afghani a Skokloster), in Finlandia, Danimarca, Germania, Lettonia, Belgio, Olanda, Francia (inclusa la Nationale d Elevage), Italia, Russia, Canada e Australia. Anche le razze Terrier mi hanno sempre affascinata e sono abilitata a giudicare all incirca metà delle razze del Gruppo 3 FCI, che è del tutto differente ed un contrasto molto interessante rispetto ai levrieri. I did not grow up in a whelping box like so many other dedicated dog people. My grandparents had dogs though (Finnish stöver and Airdale terrier), and I spent hours and hours of my childhood taking the neighbors dogs for walks. My fi rst dog, an Afghan male arrived in my home in I had no plans for a show career for him, but as the breeder was very keen on showing I promised to show him a couple of times. As soon as he had reached the age of two I entered him in three shows, just to get it over with. To my surprise he was Best of breed at the fi rst show, and got two more CCs the following weekends so he got his title in record time. Needless to say I was hooked on dog showing! At the World show in Denmark in 1977 I found the bitch that started me as an Afghan Hound breeder, Camici el Muluk. She was a daughter of the famous German male Sirokko von Katwiga and was bred on the old van de Oranje Manege-bloodlines of Eta Pauptit. Camici did very well in the showring and became the youngest Afghan Hound in Norway to gain the International title. She was the countrys top winning Afghan in 1979 and Best in Show at the Afghan Hound Specialty at Skokloster in Sweden in During the following years I bred a total of 9 litters from Camici and her daughters. Sometimes I bred back to the old vdom-lines, but I also brought my bitches to males from completely different lines, Scandinavian, American and Australian. Camici herself was strongly linebred and a very dominant brood bitch, and most of her children and grandchildren had the distinct breed type of the vdoms, though many of them had more refi nement. I have also bred two litters of Greyhounds out of Int.Ch. Jet s Ginger Ale, many of them very successful in the show ring. Although I don t have any Afghans for the time being, the breed will always have a special place in my heart. I m still a little worried when visiting friends with puppies, I could very easily be talked into bringing one home I don t trust myself entirely! Our fi rst Whippet (a bitch) moved into our home in 1980 (actually a good friend s birthday present to my daughter), followed some years later by two males imported from Australia (Int Ch Rothbury Bonecrusher, BIS at The Skokloster Whippet specialty) and France (Ch Diorissimo du Manoir de la Grenouillère) both top whippets i Norway. My interest in dogs has brought me to many countries around the world, both as a spectator and as a judge. Before I applied for starting my judging education I spent three weeks travelling US in the early eighties, visiting the famous Santa Barbara-show as well as other shows and a lot of Sighthound kennels from Diego in the south to Seattle in the north, from LA in the west to NY in the east; and a couple of years later a similar trip to England. The very best way to learn big classes, different types, great grooming and handling and, most important, interesting discussions with skilled breeders who gladly shared their experiences! In 1987 I was licensed to judge all the Sighthound breeds. Since then I have had the pleasure of judging Sighthounds (in addition to my home country) in Sweden, (including Afghan Hounds at Skokloster), Finland, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Belgium, Holland, France (including the National Whippet specialty), Italy, Russia, Canada and Australia. I have always been fascinated by the the Terriers breeds, and so far I am licensed to judge appr. half of the breeds in FCI group 3, which is completely different and a very interesting contrast to the Sighthounds. Irina Korshunova (RUS) Rusich Allevo Borzoi da più di venticinque anni. Ho avuto il mio primo Borzoi nel 1989 e, nel 1992, ho ottenuto il mio affi sso di allevamento: of Rusich. Ho sempre amato ogni sorta di animale ed ho sempre sognato di avere una arca di Noè in casa ma questo è stato impossibile per me perché la mia cara mamma, che era un dottore, era una grande maniaca della pulizia. Per quanto riguarda il mio desiderio di avere un animale sono stata una bambina sfortunata ma sapevo esattamente che avrei avuto un cane nel futuro e che i cani avrebbero condiviso il mio spazio per sempre. A quel tempo avevo solo l opportunità di dare il mio amore a gattini e cuccioli senza casa. Passeggiando con i miei due fi gli piccoli, di due e quattro anni, ho incontrato un signore in un parco che tratteneva al guinzaglio due Borzoi: è stato un giorno indimenticabile per me perché non avevo mai visto Borzoi prima. La perfetta silhouette del Borzoi mi ha aiutato a farmi rendere conto di quale fosse la razza di cani con la quale avrei voluto vivere. Sarebbe stata mia per sempre! Ho iniziato a lavorare con i Borzoi nel Club russo dei cani da caccia, della Società Militare di caccia, dove ho lavorato come cinofi la professionista e sono stata Presidente della sezione dedicata al Borzoi del Club VOOiR per più di quindici anni ( ). Questo periodo ha rappresentato per me un esperienza bella ed interessante, coincidente con l inizio della pratica della caccia e dell allevamento del Borzoi. Ho avuto l opportunità di allevare i miei Borzoi in un tempo molto diffi cile per tutti nel nostro paese. Cercherò di spiegarvi le ragioni. A quel tempo esistevano solo due Club principali in USSR, la società moscovita di caccia e pesca -MO- OiR e la Società Militare di caccia - VOOiR,

I programmi di allevamento erano uniformi per tutte le Borzoi femmine, per i club del Borzoi MOOiR e VO- OiR.Di solito il Presidente dei club decideva quale maschio avrebbe potuto essere usato per l accoppiamento. Come regola offriva il suo proprio stallone o un cane proveniente dal suo allevamento. Quella regola era valida per tutte le razze in ogni organizzazione cinofi la. A quel tempo ero abbastanza giovane e avevo appena iniziato a lavorare con i Borzoi. Averei dovuto imparare ed acquisire esperienza e conoscenza. Nello stesso tempo ho praticato la mia prima esperienza nell organizzare battute di caccia, esposizioni e attività di coursing. Non avevo intenzione di impormi nei confronti degli altri membri del nostro Club ma volevo che lavorassimo tutti insieme, per trovare modi personali nel nostro proprio allevamento.. Ciò diventò una specie di strategia generale per tutti i Borzoi nel Club VOOiR. Nel 1994, la RKF (Federazione Cinologica Russa) era già organizzata ed un po più tardi entrò nell FCI, tutti gli allevatori russi di tutte le razze, all improvviso ebbero una fantastica possibilità di aver riconosciuti i loro allevamenti ed ebbero la libertà di creare ed essere responsabili per i risultati della loro creatività e del loro lavoro. A quel tempo mi è stato concesso ed ho avuto i documenti per registrare il mio proprio affi sso di allevamento; RUSICH. Cani da RUSICH, hanno iniziato nel 1998, quando rappresentanti della Russia hanno cominciato a prendere parte a campionati internazionali di corsa ed esposizioni ed adesso si possono vedere Borzoi tra i vincitori di premi ai campionati di corsa Mondiali ed Europei. Il primo Borzoi dalla Russia che ha preso parte con successo al campionato Mondiale di corsa a Friburgo (Germania) nel giugno 1998, è stato Zevs Rusich, un maschio del mio allevamento, che è entrato in fi nale. Quella esperienza ha rappresentato realmente una fi nestra sull Europa per tutti i nostri Borzoi da lavoro. Da allora, ogni anno, una grande truppa di amatori del Borzoi, lascia la Russia e viaggia in autobus verso le città europee per prendere parte a tutte le corse ed ai coursing Mondiali, Europei ed Internazionali. Oggi sono: esperto giudice per il gruppo 10 FCI (CACIB) giudice di corse e coursings (CACIL) esperta nazionale di cani da caccia (regole per manifestazioni nazionali e test attitudinali sulle qualità di lavoro della razza Borzoi) membro del Presidio del Club Nazionale dell allevamneto del Borzoi Presidente della Commissione esposizioni e della Commissione sulle attività sportive del Club Nazionale del Borzoi dal Presidente del comitato della RKF per le corse ed i coursing rappresentante della Russia (RKF) sui problemi delle corse e dei coursing nel CDL FCI membro del Presidio del Club Russo dei Cani da Caccia della Società Militare di caccia (MCOSVOO). I have been breeding Borzois for more than twenty-fi ve years, I owned my fi rst Borzoi in 1989 and, in 1992, I got my kennel prefi x; of Rusich. I have been loving all animals for years and always have dreamed to have Noah s ark at my home, but it was impossible for me as my dear mother, who was a doctor, was a great maniac of cleanliness. As for my desire to get an animal I was an unfortunate child but I knew exactely that I would have dogs in the future and that dogs would share my room forever. On that time I had only an opportunity to love with homeless kittens and puppies. Walking with my two small sons, two and four years old, I met a man in a park who was keeping with a leash two Borzois: it was an unforgettable day for me as I had never seen Borzois earlier. The perfect Borzoi s silhouette helped me to realize which kind of dog breed I d like to live with. It would have been mine forever! I started to work with the Borzois in the Russian Club Hunting Dog, of the Military Hunting Society, where I have been working as a professional cynologist and have been Chairman of the Borzois section in the Club VOOìR for more than fi fteen years ( ). It represented a nice and interesting period for me, starting to practice hunting and breeding Borzois. I got the opportunity to breed my Borzois in a very diffi cult time for all in our country. I am trying and explain to you the reasons. In that time only two main clubs were in existence in USSR, the Moscow Hunting & Fishing Society - MOOiR and Military Hunting Society - VOOiR, it was impossible to manage our own breeding plans and be responsible for our own breeding result. Breeding plans were uniform for all the Borzoi females, for the Borzoi s Clubs MOOiR or VOOiR. Usually the Chairmen of the Clubs decided what male could have been used for matings. As a rule, he offered his own stud dog or a dog from his breeding. That rule was valid for all breed in any cynological organization. In that time I was enough young and had just began working with Borzois. I should have learned and got experience and knowledge. At the same time I got my fi rst experience in organizing hunting, show and coursing activities. I didn t want to dictate to the other members of our Club but work all together, to fi nd personal ways in our own breeding. It became a sort of general strategy for all Borzois in the VOOiR Club. In 1994, the RKF (Russian Kinological Federation) was already organized and little bit later it entered in the FCI, all Russian breeders of all breeds, at once got a fantastic possibility to state their own kennels and had the freedom to create and be responsible for the results of their creativity and work. In that time I was issued and got the papers for the FCI registration of my kennel name: RUSICH. Dogs from RUSICH, began in 1998, when Russian representatives, started to take part to international race championships and shows and now one can see Borzois among prize-winners at World and European race championship. The fi rst Borzoi from Russia which took part very successfully at the World race championship in Freiburg (Germany) in June 1998, was Zevs Rusich, my home-bred male, which entered in fi nal. That experience was really a window on Europe for all our working Borzois. From that time, every year, a big command of Borzoi s lovers leaves Russia and travels by bus to European cities to take part to all World, European and international races and coursings. Today I am: - expert group 10 FCI (CACIB), - judge races and coursing (CACIL) - national expert hunting dog ( the rules for national exhibitions and fi eld testing of working qualities of Borzoi breed) - member of the Presidium of National Club of breeding the Borzoi - Chairman of the show Commission and the Commission on sport National club of breed the Borzoi since Chairman of the RKF committee on racing & coursing - The representative of Russia (RKF) on coursing and racing problems in the CDL FCI - member of the Presidium of Russian Club Hunting Dog of the Military Hunting Society(MCOS VOO).This is one of the oldest clubs of hunting dog in Russia

10 (NL) - Modnyabistru Sono stato proprietario di Levrieri dal All inizio mi sono innamorato della razza Whippet e ne ho comprato uno proprio in quell anno. Andando a passeggio con il mio Whippet mi è capitato di incontrare sul mio cammino una signora che portava a spasso due Borzoi e sono stato così colpito da questi cani che ho deciso di avere un esemplare della razza. Nello stesso periodo esponevo il mio Whippet e, ad una esposizione canina, ho incontrato la signora Van Kessel dell allevamento Troyka van Borjoschka, le cui linee di sangue sono ancora oggi presenti in parecchi pedigree. Poiché alla signora Van Kassel non piaceva esporre i suoi cani, mi permise di presentare i suoi Borzoi, così è iniziata l avventura con questa razza. Con l aiuto della signora Van Kassel e dei tanti amici stranieri che ci visitavano ho sviluppato una profonda e solida conoscenza della razza. Molti anni più tardi, la signora Roos esercitò la funzione di mentore nei miei confronti. Possedeva il bel maschio Perchotin s Pachal, che a me piaceva tanto ed ero determinato ad esporlo personalmente un giorno. Ha avuto inizio così la collaborazione tra noi due che è continuata per anni e poco più tardi abbiamo iniziato ad allevare. Abbiamo avuto la nostra prima cucciolata nel 1988, dopo aver ottenuto il prefi s- so Gustopsowaya s, ed abbiamo prodotto molti Borzoi di successo. L anno seguente abbiamo avuto la nostra seconda cucciolata da pure linee americane/canadesi ma i risultati furono deludenti, così abbiamo smesso di utilizzare queste linee. Con l aiuto della Sig.ra Marion Spavin, famosa giudice ora scomparsa, abbiamo programmato un accoppiamento tra una femmina inglese ed il maschio tricolore, allevato da noi, Gustopsowaya Vigow Voroshilov, che generò la nostra terza cucciolata, nella quale ci furono un Campione Mondiale, un vice Campione Mondiale ed un Campione Europeo. Sono state prodotte altre due cucciolate in seguito contenenti grandi vincitori, fi no al momento in cui l allevamento Gustopsowaya s è stato dismesso con diciassette Campioni a suo credito. E iniziata una nuova era quando ho conosciuto la Sig.ra Jean Kluiters, acquisendo un nuovo affi sso di allevamento, che fu chiamato Modnyabistru. Dopo aver importato la femmina inglese Vronsky Angel in Disguise, decidemmo di accoppiarla con il favoloso Jelistaz Just Like Pistachio e da questa unione TUTTI i cuccioli sono diventati campioni. Dopo una deludente cucciolata di un solo cucciolo, che purtroppo è cresciuto sviluppando una chiusura enognata, abbiamo programmato la quarta cucciolata per Modnyabistru che ha mantenuto le promesse, producendo splendidi Borzoi. In un periodo di otto anni Modnyabistru ha prodotto undici campioni. Come giudice sono stato invitato in quasi tutti i paesi europei, in Australia e negli Stati Uniti, inclusi molti e molti raduni di razza. Oggi ho un Borzoi a casa che si chiama Solovyev Datoeda of Bistrumodny e mi chiedo se possa rappresentare l inizio di una nuova stagione con i Borzoi. Molte grazie per avermi invitato a giudicare il vostro Raduno a Padenghe sul Garda. Spero di vedere tanti bei Borzoi. I have been owned Sighthounds since At the beginning I fell in love with the Whippet breed and purchased one just in that year. Walking with my Whippet I happened to meet a lady on my path that roadwalked two Borzois and I was so struck by those dogs that made up my mind to have one specimen of the breed. At the same period I showed my Whippet and, at dog shows, I met Mrs. Van Kessel, she was the breeder of Troyka van Borjoschka, who is present in several bloodlines nowadays. Since Mrs. Van Kessel didn t like to show her dogs by herself, she let me handle her Borzois, so the adventure with this breed started. With the help of Mrs. Van Kessel and so many foreign friends who visited us I achieved a strong and stable knowledge of the breed. Many years later, Mrs. Roos acted as a mentor to me. She owned the lovely male Perchotin s Pachal, which I liked so much and I was determined to show this dog personally in the future. The joint-venture between us two began and has been continued for years and a bit later on we began breeding. We got our fi rst litter in 1988, after getting the prefi x Gustopsowaya s, and we produced several successful Borzois. The following year we got our second litter from pure American/Canadian bloodlines but the results were disappointing, so we gave up to go on with these lines. With the help of the late, famous judge, Mrs. Marion Spavin, a mating between an English bitch and the tricolour, homebred, Gustopsowaya s Vigow Voroshilov produced our third litter, which resulted in World Ch. and vice World Ch. and European Ch. Winners. Other two litters followed containing several big winners, till the time Gusopsowaya s kennel was disbanded with seventeen Champions to its credit. A new era started when I met Mrs. Jean Kluiters, acquiring a new kennel prefi x which was called: Modnyabistru. After importing the English bitch Vronsky Angel in Disguise, we decided to mate her to the fabulous Swedish male Jelistaz Just Like Pistachio and ALL puppies became champions. After a disappointing litter of only one puppy who unfortunately growing up developed an overshot bite, the fouth litter for Modnyabistru was planned and fulfi lled the promises, producing beautiful borzois. In a period of eight years Modnyabistru produced eleven Champions. As a judge I have been invited to judge in many nearly all Europen countries, Australia and USA and this included many many breedspecialties. At present I have a Borzoi at home called Solovyev Datoeda of Bistrumodny and I am wondering if this might be the beginning of a new borzoi era.
