Area Training Golf è un progetto nato nel 2004 sull onda delle innovazioni di materiali e tecnologie, un progetto ambizioso che coniuga passione per il golf e voglia di novità. Nato sull onda delle numerose richieste di spazi adeguati al gioco ma in ambiti estranei ai tradizionali percorsi, abbiamo studiato e messo a punto materiali e tecniche adeguate alla realizzazione di più o meno piccole zone complete per l allenamento: Green sintetici - Putting Green sintetici - Golf Cage - Indoor Golf - Outdoor Golf - Simulatore PGM Tutte queste strutture possono essere realizzate laddove la fantasia può arrivare, nei giardini privati o in parchi di Hotel, in centri sportivi polifunzionali, in città, al mare o in montagna, laddove gli spazi a disposizione sono insufficienti per la realizzazione di veri e propri Driving Range, Pitch&Putt, piccoli Campi Executive o veri e propri Campi da Golf. Area Training Golf started life in 2004 following advances in materials and technology. It is an ambitious project which brings together the game of golf and a desire for real innovation, designed to satisfy a common situation where there is a real wish to play golf but the setting is far from that of the traditional image of a golf course. Our research has resulted in materials and techniques suitable for large or small areas to meet the needs of golf enthusiasts to practise: Synthetic Greens and Putting Greens, Golf cages, Indoor golf either with or without a simulator and Outdoor golf. All of these structures can be installed anywhere, in private gardens, in hotel gardens, in multi functional sports centres, in towns, at the seaside or in the mountains, wherever the space available is insufficient for the creation of real Driving Ranges, Pitch and Putt courses, short courses and 18 hole courses. 123

INDOOR GOLF In addition to Golf Cages, Greens e Synthetic Putting Greens, our Area Training Golf, range also offers products to create medium sized and large indoor golf areas. A design project aimed at multi sports facilities, in town, at the seaside and above all in mountain and ski resorts, where the request for golf facilities is particularly high in both winter and summer. The idea behind the project is to give prospective players the opportunity to practise all aspects of the game, the long, the short and the putt. PGM Professional Golf Machine PGM è l unico simulatore tutto italiano in grado di offrire al giocatore un ambiente di gioco il più vicino possibile alla realtà, sia per quanto riguarda l impatto grafico e visivo sia per la tecnica di gioco. Ma non solo, PGM propone anche una riproduzione fedele dei campi da gioco. Questo simulatore è un prodotto per golfisti, progettato da golfisti che hanno voluto riprodurre l esatta sensazione di essere sul campo. I progettisti hanno scartato l idea di utilizzare campi costruiti con rendering computerizzati (come i principali competitor americani) ed hanno proceduto a rilevare fotograficamente il campo di gioco con tutti i suoi elementi (strade, alberi, cespugli, ruscelli, stagni, etc.) mediante una serie infinita di fotografie e rilevazioni planimetriche e altimetriche. Da 400 a 600 immagini per buca che insieme alle informazioni orografiche del terreno consentono una visualizzazione completa del campo sia come scenario di contorno che come ricostruzione tecnica del percorso. Il risultato finale di questo lavoro di progettazione è la sensazione di essere immersi fisicamente nel campo, con il vento che fa sventolare la bandiera, gli ostacoli (strade, alberi, cespugli, acqua, etc.) presenti sul percorso che influenzano il passaggio della palla, esattamente come nella realtà. Tecniche di roto traslazione tridimensionale, molto complesse da realizzare, ma facilmente gestibili dal giocatore sul monitor (touch) di comando consentono al giocatore di scegliere se tentare un tiro diretto o se girare prudentemente attorno ad un ostacolo per guadagnare una traiettoria più sicura con un secondo colpo. Anche in Green il giocatore può giocare la palla fino ad imbucarla, rimanendo sempre sulla stessa pedana di tiro. Il giocatore può percorrere in lungo e in largo il green (sempre con tecniche di roto traslazione tridimensionale) per valutare pendenze e studiare le traiettorie migliori ed un Green Keeper virtuale si occuperà quotidianamente di cambiare la posizione dell asta e tagliare il green. Anche il suono della palla che cade nella buca viene riprodotto fedelmente. In più vengono evidenziate le regole, così se il colpo risulta in una posizione di fuori limite viene visualizzata la Regola specifica che norma quella particolare situazione (Es. Regola n. 27, palla persa 1 colpo di penalità). Il Software Consente di effettuare sessioni di allenamento, visualizzando colpo per colpo il comportamento della palla, i dati sintetici sullo swing, i dati relativi all impatto della testa del bastone sulla palla. Con il replay consente poi di analizzare fotogramma per fotogramma lo swing effettuato da diverse angolazioni. 130
PGM Professional Golf Machine PGM, Professional Golf Machine is the only entirely Italian simulator which is able to give the player a realistic playing experience, offering great graphics, visual impact and game techniques. In addition PGM offers a faithful reproduction of real golf courses. This simulator is designed and produced by golfers for golfers to give the best playing experience possible. Our design team rejected the idea of using courses created by computerised rendering (typical of the main American competitors) and instead chose to photographically survey a golf course with all its various elements (paths, trees, bushes, streams, ponds etc) through an endless series of photos and topographic measurements. Between 400 and 600 images per hole which together with the geophysical information give a complete vision of the course, the surroundings and the technical demands. The final result of all this preliminary work is the sensation of being physically immersed in the course, feeling the wind blow and seeing the flag move. The player interacts with the various obstacles (paths, trees, bushes, water etc) actually present on the course which all influence the flight of the ball, exactly as in the real life. 3D rotational techniques, which are extremely difficult to create but easy for the player to use on the command monitor (touch screen) give the player the choice of trying a direct shot or of prudently moving round the obstacle to get a better trajectory for his second shot. Even on the green the player can play the ball right through and hole it, without ever moving off the play mat. The length and breadth of the green can be visualised (using the 3D rotational techniques) so that the player can calculate the slope and work out the best shot. A virtual Green keeper changes the position of the pin and cuts the grass daily. The sound of the ball dropping into the hole is faithfully reproduced. Furthermore, the rules are highlighted so that if the shot is taken from a position which is off limits then the rule governing the particular infraction will be shown (Eg. Rule number 27, ball lost, one shot penalty). The software has a practice session facility, showing the ball s flight behaviour shot by shot, giving data on the swing, relative information on the impact of the club head on the ball. The replay feature then allows an analysis of the swing photogram by photogram and from a variety of angles. 130 bis

L utente finale infatti si troverà di fronte ad un monitor con comandi essenziali ed intuitivi mentre la parte informatica è collocata all interno di un mainframe integrato nella struttura e non richiede alcun tipo di interazione con il giocatore. Il rilevatore di movimento, inserito in un tappeto di pratica professionale, consente di giocare sia dal tee che dall erba senza interferire con lo swing. SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AND PLAYABILITY At the heart of the system is the PGM software which minimises the impact of the technology on the player and makes the playing experience completely realistic. The user in fact uses a monitor with essential and intuitive commands while the real technology is to be found inside a mainframe built into the system and not requiring any kind of interaction with the player. The movement sensor, which is placed within the professional play mat, allows for play both on the tee and on the grass without impeding the swing. Either traditional balls or special light balls can be used making it suitable for both children and novices. GRAFICA E PERCORSI GRAPHICS AND COURSES PGM è nato nel 1998 come software per il training indoor. Nel corso degli anni sono stati introdotti gli short games e poi i percorsi di gioco. La grafica è stata interamente rilevata e ricreata fotograficamente, con un lavoro immenso, da un team di 6 persone che ha comportato inizialmente un anno di lavoro per ogni campo. Ognuno si è occupato a tempo pieno della catalogazione e collegamento delle fotografie, alla mappatura di ogni singolo fotogramma, alla rilevazione orografica del terreno ed alla loro progettazione CAD, nonchè della trasformazione numerica per l interazione con il software PGM. Una nuova metodologia di rilevazione dei campi permetterà di produrre nei prossimi anni nuovi percorsi. Verranno così selezionati i migliori campi al mondo, valutandone sia le difficoltà tecniche sia il contesto scenografico come è stato per i primi campi introdotti con la nuova metodologia: i Links di St Andrews, Il Blue Monster Course di Miami e molti altri ancora in fase di realizzazione. PGM originated in 1998 as software for indoor practice. Over the years it has developed to include short games and complete courses. The early graphics were captured and then lovingly recreated photographically by a team of 6 people, taking a year for each course. Each member of the team then worked full time to catalogue and place the photos, mapping each individual photogram to the land survey information and to their CAD project, as well as making the numerical transformation to allow interaction with the PGM software. A new technology allowed the creation of new courses in a much shorter time. We choose the best courses in the world, looking at the technical difficulties and the impact of the scenery. The first courses introduced with the new method were St Andrew s links and the Blue Monster Course in Miami while many others such as Valderrama and Augusta are still in the production phase and are nearly ready for release. SOFTWARE È di fatto il cuore del sistema, progettato per l allenamento in ambiente indoor ed il gioco in campo virtuale. La grafica è di ultima generazione, la progettazione dei campi è reale ed eseguita sul posto con misurazione e progettazione CAD. PGM non è un videogioco e non utilizza software standard di gestione arcade ma è stato interamente progettato e votato alla simulazione foto-virtuale del gioco del Golf. È stato progettato per essere il più semplice possibile, con il più alto grado di accessibilità possibile. Per questo motivo PGM è stato progettato per poter suddividere su due uscite video separate il gioco effettivo e le videate di comando e movimento. È ottimizzato per dare al giocatore la massima sensazione di essere fisicamente in campo. Sono state utilizzate le più alte tecnologie di programmazione per ottenere un volo della palla reale e fluido e gestire la grafica a livello fotografico. La bandiera si muove nel vento, la palla rimbalza secondo le caratteristiche del terreno, massima cura nella gestione dei comportamenti della palla in green (pendenze, bordi buca), camminata virtuale del giocatore nelle vicinanze del green per osservarne meglio le pendenze e le caratteristiche e la posizione della palla rispetto alla buca. Caratteristiche peculiari: GREEN KEEPER VIRTUALE Ogni giorno il Green Keeper sposta la posizione delle bandiere, per cui si giocherà sul campo sempre in condizioni diverse. Lo spostamento della posizione delle buche avviene al mattino presto ed a campo chiuso e rimangono invariate per tutta la giornata, in caso di gara la posizione sarà uguale per tutti. GREENS I Green vengono tagliati tutti i giorni, in caso di mancato taglio PGM avvertirà i giocatori riguardo alla lentezza degli stessi. MACCHINE OPERATRICI Nella modalità tour può avvenire che gli operai del campo operino durante il gioco, recando disturbo al gioco stesso. Si consiglia di lasciare terminare il passaggio prima di effettuare il tiro. DISTANZE SEGNALATE Le distanze segnalate dalla tabella dei Tees di partenza sono quelle realmente segnalate nei campi, le distanze segnalate da PGM nella casella della posizione della palla sono le distanze rispetto alla bandiera o buca. Comunque è sempre possibile visualizzare la mappa del campo e delle posizioni relative della palla. ROUGH Il tiro dal rough viene smorzato in potenza dal 25% al 10% partendo dal Legno 5 per arrivare sino al Wedge. Il rotolamento in green o in farway della palla tirata dal rough sarà accentuato. BUNKER Il tiro dal Bunker viene smorzato in potenza dal 40% al 10% partendo dal Sand e arrivando al Legno 3. FAIRWAY Il tiro dal Farway viene sempre smorzato in potenza del 2%. ALBERI & CESPUGLI In base all impatto con l ostacolo, la palla può comportarsi in modo diverso, come rimbalzare indietro o lateralmente, cadere a piombo o tornare indietro. SOFTWARE This is the real heart of the system, designed for indoor practise and play on virtual courses. The graphics are cutting edge, the design of the courses is real and was carried out in situ with CAD measurements and design. PGM is not a video game and does not use the standard software for arcade games but is designed and intended for use as a virtualphoto simulator for the game of golf. It is conceived to be as simple and user friendly as possible, for this reason PGM has two video outputs, one for the game itself and the other for command and movement windows. It has been perfected to give the player the most realistic sensation possible of being physically on the course. The fluid flight of a real ball is captured by state-of-theart technology which also manages the graphics on the photographic level. The pin flag blows in the wind and the ball bounces according to the characteristics of the ground, great care has been taken in the managing of the behaviour of the ball on the green (slopes, the edge of the hole), the player can virtually walk near the green to be able to observe the slope, features and the position of the ball with regard to the hole. Particular Features: VIRTUAL GREEN KEEPER Every day the Green Keeper moves the position of the pin so that each game on the course is played under different conditions. This re-positioning takes place early in the morning when the course is still closed after which it stays in the same position all day, under competition circumstances the position is the same for all players. GREENS The greens are cut each day and if for any reason this has not been done the PGM will notify the players to expect them to play slower. MACHINE OPERATORS In the Tour mode there may be workers on the course carrying out tasks and disturbing play. We advise players to wait until they have finished before taking their shot. DISTANCE GIVEN The distances given on the starting board for the tee are those really marked on the course, the distance given by the PGM in the ball position box concerns the flag or hole. It is always possible to visualise the map of the course and the relative position of the ball. The spin on a ball hit out of the rough will be more noticeable when it lands on the green or fairway BUNKER A shot taken from a Bunker will be reduced in power by between 40% and 10% starting from a Sand and going down to a 3 wood. FAIRWAY A shot from the fairway is always reduced in power by 2%. TREES AND BUSHES Depending on the impact with the obstacle the ball may behave in different ways, it may bounce back or sideways, fall dead or roll back. PROFESSIONAL FULL È la versione completa e professionale di PGM che consente di installare un simulatore completo di pedana, telo di proiezione, proiettore, computer, monitor, software completo e tutti gli accessori necessari per allestire un vero e proprio campo di gioco con 7 campi a 18 buche e 2 campi a 9 buche. PGM Professional comprende: 10 Driving Range, 5 pitching green, 9 green per l allenamento, Contest e Nearest games e statistiche personalizzate per ogni giocatore. FULL GAMES: Gioco in Campo PGM permette di effettuare una intera partita nel campo scelto tra quelli a disposizione. Il Gioco può essere libero Tour, con la possibilità di scegliere di volta in volta la buca da giocare, oppure partita stableford, medal etc. Per neofiti o bambini è disponibile anche un Picth & Putt (Montgomery di Dubai) molto veloce e divertente. TRAINIG AREA: Driving Range: permette di effettuare una intera sessione di allenamento in campo pratica. Come nella realtà si può osservare il volo della palla e anche le palle giocate che rimangono sul terreno. Inoltre si può attivare la traccia della palla per accentuare la visibilità e osservare la vera traiettoria del colpo effettuato. Il Simulatore per ogni colpo da immediatamente informazioni sul tempo di swing, angolo di backswing, angolo di downswing, angolo di impatto, distanza del colpo, scostamento laterale etc. La nuova versione inoltre permette di memorizzare la statistica della sessione in campo pratica, i colpi effettuati, le medie ottenute, con la possibilità di attivare la schermata di statistica completa per ogni colpo. Si possono scegliere a piacimento diversi campi pratica tra cui anche Dubai di notte. Putting Green: permette di effettuare un allenamento di putting green. Si possono scegliere diversi campi su cui effettuare l allenamento e scegliere per ogni buca le diverse posizioni e distanze da cui effettuare l allenamento. Anche in questo allenamento vengono visualizzate tutti i dati del colpo. Come nel Driving Range le palle giocate rimangono sul terreno con la possibilità di far passare l addetto alla raccolta e alla pulizia del campo Pitching Green: permette di effettuare un allenamento di pitching al green. Si possono scegliere diversi campi su cui effettuare l allenamento e scegliere per ogni buca le diverse posizioni e distanze da cui effettuare l allenamento. Anche in questo allenamento vengono visualizzate tutti i dati del colpo e dello swing. Come nel Driving Range le palle giocate rimangono sul terreno con la possibilità di far passare l addetto alla raccolta e alla pulizia del campo. SHORT GAMES: PGM permette di effettuare delle partite con più di 4 giocatori atte alla sfida contestale di breve durata. Il gioco in campo sul simulatore è divertente (ma sempre con tempi piuttosto lunghi). Più divertenti e rapidi risultano questi giochi contestuali pensati per durare massimo 20/30 minuti a sfida. DRIVING CONTEST: Gara su nove buche scelte casualmente dal simulatore su un set di 12 buche. Il punteggio viene calcolato su il migliore dei due tiri per ogni buca che il giocatore ha a disposizione. Vince chi ha il punteggio maggiore. Attenzione: Il tiro è valido solo se si ferma in farway. È quindi una gara di potenza unita alla precisione. Se il tiro è fuori dall ambito valido viene segnalata un X al posto della distanza. Nel caso tutti due i tiri a disposizione danno X il punteggio sulla buca sarà nullo. Consiglio: Il primo tiro serve per assicurarsi un punteggio valido anche se non molto alto, poi con il secondo si tenta la distanza. (Un buon giocatore normalmente totalizza più di 1500mt). PIN CONTEST: Gara su nove buche scelte casualmente dal simulatore su un set di 24 buche. Il punteggio è la somma delle distanze dalla buca. Vince chi ha la distanza totale minore. (Un buon giocatore normalmente totalizza meno di 130 mt). PITCHING CONTEST: Gara su nove posizioni scelte casualmente su 18 posizioni di 3 buche. Ogni giocatore ha a disposizione 5 tiri per posizione, viene poi scartato il tiro peggiore e vale la somma dei 4 tiri restanti. Vince chi totalizza meno metri. (Un buon giocatore totalizza meno di 170 mt). 136
