3 LISTENING SAMPLE PAPE In this booklet, two sample tasks are provided for each of the skills of: Listening eading The two Listening and eading Italian sample tasks in this booklet have been produced to give you a better idea of the style of Asset Languages Preliminary Stage External Assessment. These tasks are based on the sample external assessment materials in English on the website. Asset Languages live tests will contain tasks of the same format as the tasks provided here. For more information on the content of the Preliminary external assessments, please refer to the Introductory Stage Guide which is available on the Asset Languages website. Language specifications are also available and these show the language purposes and functions that are in external tests for each language. Asset Languages regularly receives feedback from centres and candidates as well as statistical information from candidates live test responses. We take this information into account and, over time, tests may be adapted and new task types introduced. OC

7 LISTENING TAPESCIPTS This is the OC Asset Languages Italian Sample Preliminary Listening test. There are five parts to the test. You will hear each part twice. For each part of the test, there will be time for you to look through the questions, and time for you to check your answers. Write your answers on the question paper. You will have five minutes at the end of the test to copy your answers onto the answer sheet. The recording will now be stopped. Please ask any questions now, because you must not speak during the test. Now open your question paper and look at Part One. You will hear a girl called Sara talking about her day at school. La prima casa insieme Quando Luca ed Elena si sono sposati sono andati a vivere con i genitori di Luca. Però hanno sempre sognato di avere un appartamento in proprio, ma, all inizio, non avevano i soldi. Poi, un giorno, Elena ha visto sul giornale un annuncio di un appartamento in affitto. Era un piccolo appartamento al piano terreno che costava soltanto 50 euro alla settimana. Luca ed Elena non hanno creduto alla loro fortuna! Luca ed Elena non erano la sola coppia interessata a questo appartamento. La proprietaria, la signora Bianchi, non sapeva chi scegliere ma, fortunatamente, ha scelto loro due. Più tardi ha detto a loro che era perchè entrambi avevano un buon lavoro. I genitori di Elena gli hanno dato un letto, un tavolo e due sedie. Poi, Luca ed Elena hanno speso dei soldi che avevano per comprare della stoffa ed Elena l ha usata per fare dei cuscini. Ma la cosa più importante che hanno comprato è stata una piccola cucina elettrica per cucinare. Quella è stata l unica cosa completamente nuova che hanno comprato, che è arrivata con un bel libro di cucina. Ogni mattina Elena ha guardato una ricetta e, al ritorno dal lavoro, ha comprato tutti gli ingreditenti di cui aveva bisogno. Comunque, Luca e Elena hanno constatato che alcune ricette erano migliori di altre. Luca ha sempre detto che i piatti che Elena cucinava erano deliziosi: il che era molto gentile, ma non era poi sempre vero! OC
