3 FERRARI CORSE CLIENTI Già nel suo secondo anno di vita - e dopo le vittorie con le vetture ufficiali ottenute all esordio nel la Ferrari ha stretto un vincolo molto forte con i clienti desiderosi di affrontare le corse. È sterminato l elenco delle vittorie ottenute dai clienti - a volte determinanti per il punteggio in campionati di prima grandezza - e la Ferrari ha sempre seguito con molta attenzione questo settore, tanto che nel 2001 è stato creato l apposito dipartimento Corse Clienti che ha sede in una palazzina all interno della pista di Fiorano, accanto alla celebre casa dalla finestre rosse che Enzo Ferrari apprezzava particolarmente. Una collocazione che va d accordo con lo spirito di chi opera in questa struttura, tutti giovani fortemente motivati dalla passione, e con l attività che viene svolta. Dalla sua creazione Corse Clienti si è occupata dell organizzazione a livello internazionale del Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli e dello Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, campionato disputato con Ferrari d epoca quest anno interrotto a favore dell organizzazione di manifestazioni di più ampio respiro. L ente contribuisce inoltre a fornire appoggio all attività della clientela sportiva che partecipa ai campionati GT ed è anche impegnato nella gestione del reparto F1 Clienti e degli esclusivi programmi 599XX e FXX. 2 3

4 FERRARI CORSE CLIENTI Right from its second year in existence, and after the victories for the works cars at their debut in 1947, Ferrari has always had very close links with its customers who want to go racing. The list of wins obtained by private owners is astoundingly long and sometimes they have played a decisive role in the outcome of the most important championships. Ferrari has always paid close attention to this sector, leading in 2001 to the creation of a specific department, the Corse Clienti which is based in a unit within the Fiorano track, alongside the famous house with the red windows, which Enzo Ferrari was particularly keen on. This location is particularly appropriate to the spirit of what goes on in this building, youthful but motivated by passion for the activity that takes place within its walls. Since its foundation Corse Clienti has been organising the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge on an international level, a Championship for historical cars from Ferrari, which has been interrupted this year for finding an improved formula for the racing series. Furthermore the department supports the activities by the sporty clients of the Prancing Horse, who participate in the GT Championship and operates in the F1 Clienti department and the exclusive 599XX and FXX Programme s management. 4 5

7 599XX PROGRAMME FERRARI CHALLENGE TROFEO PIRELLI Il Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli è uno dei più popolari campionati monomarca anche perché accoglie sia clienti piloti che sono al debutto assoluto in pista, sia chi ha già esperienza agonistica. Ai primi è riservata la Coppa Shell, con classifica separata e titolo finale; ai secondi il Trofeo Pirelli, ugualmente con titolo in palio. Sono quindi evitate le sfide impari e migliora anche lo spettacolo, assicurato sia dagli esperti che danno vita a corse di livello molto elevato, ma anche dai gentlemen driver che possono lottare nella certezza di essere tutti sullo stesso piano. Nato nel 1993, e giunto alla diciottesima edizione, il Ferrari Challenge si articola anche quest anno su tre serie (Italia, Europa, Nord America) con una Finale Mondiale di categoria. Un ampia area hospitality dotata di tutte le comodità rappresenta il centro nevralgico in cui piloti ed team hanno l opportunità di accogliere ospiti e sponsor in un ambiente consono alle loro esigenze. Opportunità offerta anche agli stessi sponsor del Challenge, attratti dalla serie per l abbinamento con un marchio di prestigio ma anche dall ampia visibilità mediatica assicurata da Tv, radio e carta stampata e internet. Nel Challenge tutto è congegnato per mettere a proprio agio i piloti e l organizzazione di Concessionarie e officine autorizzate, le sole che per regolamento possono iscrivere le macchine. Una regola che esiste fin dalla nascita del Trofeo e che permette una gestione generale più trasparente, impossibile con team esterni. Disputate sempre su piste di grande prestigio e sempre nell ambito di eventi particolari gestiti dalla stessa Ferrari, i Ferrari Racing Days, e di alcune concomitanze con altre serie internazionali di prestigio, le gare sono articolate su una doppia sfida sia per i piloti Shell che per quelli Pirelli. A partire dalla stagione 2010 le gare avranno la durata di 40 minuti. Si ritorna ad una formula che prevede due turni di qualifica da 30 minuti (oltre alla sessione di 60 minuti di Prove Libere), dove il primo turno di qualifica determina la griglia di Gara 1 ed il secondo la griglia di Gara 2. Sono ancora ammesse le coppie così come i piloti iscritti singolarmente: nel caso di equipaggio composto da doppio conduttore verrà disputata una sessione di qualifica ed una gara a testa. Ai fini della classifica vale la somma dei punti conquistati da entrambi i piloti. In aggiunta, per ogni gara, verrà attribuito al Conduttore (o ad entrambi i conduttori di un equipaggio doppio) un punto per la pole position ed uno per il giro veloce. Dalla passata stagione l introduzione della partenza lanciata secondo la nuova normativa FIA, la Coppa Team ed i premi speciali per i vincitori di Trofeo Pirelli e Coppa Shell. Sempre un occhio di riguardo per i giovani partecipanti riguarda l abbassamento della tassa d iscrizione prevista per gli under 25 e rimane confermato un Contributo Ferrari Genuine per i primi cinque classificati di ogni categoria insieme ad una serie di iniziative mirate alla riduzione generale del costo di gestione della stagione sportiva. Per tutti comunque un impegno sportivo tradizionalmente di livello molto elevato, con gare combattute dall inizio alla fine. Nel Trofeo Pirelli spiccano da sempre nomi di piloti conosciuti, che affrontano il Challenge per aumentare il loro prestigio personale e quello della Concessionaria per la quale corrono, ma anche nomi di giovanissimi con qualche esperienza alle spalle, che nel Challenge e nella fama della Ferrari sperano di trovare un trampolino di lancio per il futuro. Come effettivamente si è verificato. Tiratissime anche le gare della Coppa Shell che vede al via gentleman driver dall età variabilissima e dalle esperienze più disparate

8 599XX PROGRAMME FERRARI CHALLENGE TROFEO PIRELLI The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is one of the most popular one-make series, in part because it brings together complete track novices and those who already have competition experience. The former have their own Coppa Shell with a separate classification and final title, while the latter race in the Trofeo Pirelli, also with a title up for grabs. This means there are no unequal contests and it makes for a better spectacle, with the experts providing exciting racing at a very high level and the gentlemen drivers are able to fight it out knowing they are all at the same level. This principal of equality means there are no unfair fights, while all competitors get the same treatment. Established in 1993 and now in its eighteenth year, the Ferrari Challenge is run as usual this year over three series - Italy, Europe and North America - with a category s overall final. The large hospitality area offers all necessary conveniences and it provides a nerve centre where drivers and the teams can welcome their guests and sponsors in an environment that lives up to their expectations. These facilities are also available to these same sponsors of the Challenge, some attracted by the series itself and others who prefer to link up with drivers. They are keen to be associated with a prestige marque and also enjoy the media coverage on TV, radio, print media and internet. In the Challenge, everything is done to put drivers at their ease, with rules ensuring that Dealers and official preparation companies are the only ones authorised to enter cars. This rule has been in place since the very beginning of the Trofeo and allows for greater transparency in the running of the series, that would not be possible with entries from outside the organisation. Events are always held at prestigious race circuits as part of a special event also run by Ferrari - Ferrari Racing Days - with the exception of a few that are run alongside top international events. Races, for the Shell and Pirelli drivers are run over two legs: one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. As from the 2010 season, races will be run over 40 minutes. A novelty is the introduction of a free practice session of 60 minutes and two qualifying sessions with 30 minutes each, setting the grid for race 1 and the grid for race 2 respectively. Crews made up of two drivers are allowed: in case a crew has two drivers, one qualifying session and once race each will be held. The classification will be based on the total of the two results. Furthermore in every race the driver (or both drivers in case there is a duo driving the car) will receive a point for the pole position and one for the fastest race lap. As of last year, the introduction of a rolling start, according to FIA regulations, the introduction of the Coppa Team and special prizes for the winners of the Trofeo Pirelli and the Coppa Shell. Younger drivers have also been catered for, with a reduction on the entrance fee for drivers under 25, while the Ferrari Genuine Contribution has been confirmed for the first five drivers in every category s classification together with a series of initiatives aiming at a general cost reduction for the motorsport season s management. All drivers still face a sporting contest that has traditionally operated at a very high standard, with the races proving to be closely contested from start to finish. The Trofeo Pirelli features well-known drivers who tackle the challenge to raise their profile and that of the Concessionaire that enters them. But there are also some very young racers with a bit of experience, who hope that the Challenge and the famous name that is Ferrari will provide a springboard to a successful future. This has often proved to be the case. The Coppa Shell races also provide close competition between the gentlemen racers of all ages and various levels of experience

15 599XX PROGRAMME F430 CHALLENGE Fin dalla nascita il Ferrari Challenge ha schierato in pista una vettura scelta nella gamma stradale, nella consapevolezza che le GT di Maranello hanno comunque un anima sportiva che può dare grandi soddisfazioni in gara. Anche la F430 attualmente utilizzata non si discosta da questo concetto: il motore V8 da 490 Cv resta strettamente di serie così come la struttura generale della vettura. Le modifiche dettate dall utilizzo agonistico non sono però poche, a partire da quelle motivate dalla sicurezza. Quindi completa gabbia di protezione per l abitacolo, sedile racing con appoggi per la testa, cinture a quattro punti di attacco e, a partire dalla stagione 2008, struttura di fissaggio per il sistema HANS che è stato reso obbligatorio. Grazie all alleggerimento che ha coinvolto sia la meccanica che la carrozzeria - con utilizzo del Lexan per il parabrezza e la fibra di carbonio per il coperchio del collettore di aspirazione - il peso della F430 Challenge è sceso a kg in ordine di marcia. Anche l assetto è specifico, con modifiche alla barre di torsione e alla rigidezza delle molle mentre gli ammortizzatori hanno una taratura per impiego agonistico. Sui cerchi da 19 pollici, mono dado a fissaggio centrale (scelta che rende semplice la sostituzione, comunque facilitata dal sistema di sollevamento pneumatico), vengono quindi montati i pneumatici Pirelli slick, appositamente studiati dal marchio milanese per mantenere costante un elevato livello delle prestazioni anche con un impiego prolungato. Va infatti ricordato che nell intero week-end di gara non possono essere utilizzati più di due treni di pneumatici. Sulla F430 Challenge ha debuttato fin dal 2006 l impianto frenante che sfrutta la tecnologia carboceramica (CCM), derivata dall esperienza in F.1. Un vantaggio tecnico che migliora e rende anche più sicuro il comportamento della vettura. Anche il cambio elettroattuato ha ereditato la logica di funzionamento dalla F.1 ma, rispetto alla versione stradale, sono state modificate la quinta e la sesta marcia, nonché la coppia conica, per migliorare la potenzialità del motore. A vantaggio delle doti di accelerazione che però non penalizzano la velocità massima che sfiora i 280 km/h sul rettilineo di Monza. Ancora tra le modifiche tecniche, l impianto di scarico ultraleggero con terminali alti e centrali oltre alle griglie, attorno agli stessi scarichi, modificate per migliorare lo sfogo dell aria calda. Nell abitacolo si notano invece la strumentazione digitale a colori, il volante a sgancio rapido per facilitare l operazione di ingresso-uscita, dotato dei pulsanti per le comunicazioni con il box, e il pit speed, che limita automaticamente la velocità all interno della corsia box. Non si nota, ma è fondamentale, la presenza del sistema di telemetria, che permette a piloti e tecnici di studiare nei minimi dettagli ogni giro della vettura: è utile per gli esperti per eventuali comparazioni ma è fondamentale per i debuttanti che possono migliorare il loro stile di guida con l analisi del comportamento in curva sullo schermo del computer

The current F430 certainly fits this profile: the 490 cv V8 engine is strictly standard as is the general structure of the car. Nevertheless, there are a good number of modifications made with racing in mind, starting with safety elements. There is a full roll cage in the cockpit, a racing seat and headrest, four point safety harness and, as from the 2008 season, mounting points for the now compulsory HANS system. Thanks to a programme of weight reduction, which affects both the bodywork and mechanical components, including the use of a Lexan windscreen and carbon fibre in the air intake cover, the weight of the F430 Challenge has dropped to 1,225 kg in ready to race trim. It has been set up specifically for the task, with modifications to the torsion bars, the stiffness of the springs, while the dampers are calibrated for competition use. The car sits on 19 inch rims, with central fixing, which makes for rapid wheel changes, aided by a pneumatic jacking system and the Pirelli slick tyres are specially made by the Milanese company to maintain a consistent level of high performance, combined with good durability. In fact, only two sets of tyres can be used for the duration of a race weekend. Since 2006, the F430 Challenge has used brakes that benefit from carbon-ceramic technology (CCM,) derived from its use in F1. This technical edge makes the car even safer. The gearchange has also inherited its electronic actuation from F1 and the gear ratios for fifth and sixth gear are different to those in the road version, as is the final drive, to improve engine performance, with improved acceleration without penalising top speed that can reach 280 km/h down the straight at Monza. Further technical modifications include an ultra light exhaust system, which is raised in a central position, while the air vents around them are also modified to improve the flow of escaping hot air. The cockpit features a colour digital display, a quick release steering wheel to aid entry and exit, which is fitted with buttons for car to pit radio communication and a pit lane speed limiter. Although not visible, equally vital is the telemetry system which allows drivers and engineers to study every lap in minute detail: this is useful for experts to study comparative data and it is vital for beginners who can improve their driving style by analysing each corner on the computer screen

23 599XX PROGRAMME COMPETIZIONI GRAN TURISMO grand touring championships Da sempre l anima agonistica della Ferrari è costituita dalla F1 (oltre che dalla Sport quando la categoria era in auge) e dalle berlinette di serie impegnate nella categoria Gran Turismo, con nomi e sigle leggendari, come Tour de France, 250 GT Scaglietti o 365 GTB/4 Competizione. Modelli stradali di gran classe che, senza eccessivi stravolgimenti, si imponevano nelle corse. Una tradizione che di recente è stata ripresa dalle varie versioni della Maranello, dalla 360 Modena GTC e, in modo ancor più clamoroso, dalla F430 GTC. Quest ultima è stata sviluppata dalla stessa Ferrari, in collaborazione con la Michelotto Automobili, per la classe GT2 e portata in pista da team privati, seguiti anche in occasione delle corse dai responsabili della Casa di Maranello per il settore. I risultati hanno reso la F430 GTC una delle macchine più vittoriose nella storia delle competizioni Granturismo: dominio assoluto nel campionato GT FIA di categoria (Coppa Costruttori e titoli Piloti e Team nel 2006, nel 2007 e nel 2008, Coppa Costruttori e Team nel 2009); titolo a Squadre nel 2006 nell American Le Mans Series e titolo Piloti l anno successivo, con vittoria alla 12 Ore di Sebring nelle ultime due stagioni; titolo Piloti nella Le Mans Series nella stagione 2007 e 2008 e successo nella 1000 km di Silverstone nel Al trionfo nella 24 Ore di Le Mans conseguito nelle ultime quattro stagioni va ad aggiungersi la conquista dei campionati GT Spagnolo e GT Open, oltre ad un lungo elenco di successi nei campionati nazionali. Vittorie ottenute con una vettura che non ha avuto bisogno di grandi cambiamenti, comunque consentiti dal regolamento. La F430 vanta infatti di serie già soluzioni tecniche idonee all utilizzo in pista. L adattamento ha riguardato dei particolari specifici - come il cambio di tipo racing e il motore V8 portato a 4.0 litri dai 4308 cc originali per restare entro la soglia dei kg di peso della vettura, come prescritto dal regolamento FIA-GT2, ma senza interventi che ne abbiano mutato la configurazione. A fine 2007 la stessa Ferrari ha deliberato una serie di modifiche, già sperimentate nei test, che sono state messe a disposizione dei team: cassoncino d aspirazione che ha contribuito a migliorare la coppia del motore, geometria delle sospensioni (mantenendo comunque i bracci in alluminio della versione stradale a conferma della validità del progetto di base), fondo vettura ottimizzato che ha contribuito ad aumentare la downforce ed altre novità aerodinamiche per la carrozzeria. Nel 2010 la stessa vettura ha subito una profonda rivisitazione, sia aerodinamica che meccanica ed è passata dai 1100 kg originali ai 1250 attuali, consentendo di montare delle gomme più larghe sul posteriore, nel rispetto del regolamento e andando a migliorare la performance generale della vettura. Un settore dunque che vede impegnata la Casa di Maranello in prima linea per conservare la supremazia tecnica e mantenere quel legame indissolubile tra corse e produzione che è stata l idea vincente di Enzo Ferrari

24 599XX PROGRAMME COMPETIZIONI GRAN TURISMO/grand touring championships Ferrari s sporting soul has always had at its core F1 and, when the category existed, Sports cars, as well as road cars entered in Grand Touring races, with legendary names and designations such as Tour de France, 250 GT Scaglietti and 365 GTB/4 Competizione. All of them were classy road cars which, with the minimum of modification, could be raced on the tracks. It s a tradition which has recently been revived with various versions of the Maranello, from the 360 Modena GTC and in even more noticeable fashion, with the F430 GTC, this model being developed by Ferrari in collaboration with Michelotto Automobili for the GT2 class. It was entered by private teams, sometimes with support from the relevant people in Maranello. Its results have made the F430 GTC, one of the must successful cars in this history of GT racing: it totally dominated its category in the FIA GT championship, with victories in the Constructors Cup as well as the Drivers and Team championship titles, in 2006, 2007 and 2008; the Constructors and Teams Title in 2009; the Team title in the 2006 American Le Mans Series and the Drivers title the previous year, winning the Sebring 12 Hours in the last two seasons; Drivers title in the 2007 Le Mans Series. On top of taking the titles again in 2008 in the Le Mans Series, the car was also victorious in the Le Mans 24 Hours. To the four consecutive victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans wins in the Spanish and Open GT championships were added, as well as numerous successes in national championships. These victories were obtained with a car that did not need many modifications, even including those allowed in the regulations. In fact, the standard F430 boasts several technical elements suited to track use. Therefore, changes were aimed at specific areas, such as the racing gearbox and the V8 engine, changed to 4 litres from the original 4308 cc to stay under the 1,100 kg weight limit required by the FIA-GT2 rules, but without any changes to the car s configuration. At the end of 2007, this same Ferrari benefited from a series of modifications already tried in testing, which were made available to the teams: air intake, which helped to improve engine torque, suspension geometry, while maintaining the aluminium arms of the road version, thus confirming the efficacy of the standard model, an optimised underfloor of the car contributing to an increased downforce and other new aerodynamic elements on the bodywork. In 2010 the car was profoundly reviewed regarding the aerodynamics and the mechanics, while the weight was raised from its original 1,100 to 1,250 kilograms, making it possible to fit wider rear tyres, while observing the rules, and improving the car s overall performance. 28 599XX PROGRAMME Se fossero previsti dei veri Gran Premi, i piloti delle Ferrari F1 Clienti dovrebbero affrontare le pre-qualifiche, tanto è elevato il numero degli appassionati che ha realizzato un sogno: acquistare e guidare, liberi da ogni problema organizzativo, una delle monoposto dismesse dal Reparto Corse del Cavallino. Per questi piloti speciali vengono organizzati eventi non competitivi che rientrano nell ambito delle altre manifestazioni gestite ogni anno da Maranello: Ferrari Racing Days e Finali Mondiali. Questi eventi si alternano con test dedicati a questi clienti speciali, sempre su circuiti celebri e dotati di tutte le moderne norme di sicurezza. Una garanzia, quest ultima, che si abbina alle moderne protezioni previste dagli attuali inflessibili regolamenti tecnici per le F1. Non solo, i proprietari delle vetture, molti dei quali hanno optato per una ex-schumacher (anche se questo vale per tutte le vetture che sono state cedute), si ritrovano nella stessa situazione di Michael in quanto a gestione della loro monoposto. Devono solo presentarsi sul circuito; alla cura dell auto e al trasporto, abbigliamento da guida compreso, provvede il Reparto F1 Clienti, creato nel 2003 all interno di Ferrari Corse Clienti e che ha sede accanto alla pista di Fiorano. Un reparto che si occupa delle monoposto durante gli eventi ma che ha come attività primaria l assistenza e il restauro delle monoposto Ferrari dal 1970 ad oggi. O, per meglio dire, all altro ieri, perché ogni vettura viene ceduta solo dopo un embargo di due anni a partire dall ultima stagione ufficiale alla quale ha preso parte. Grazie all archivio meccanizzato che può fornire i disegni di tutti i particolari delle monoposto, il reparto è in grado di mettere le mani su qualsiasi vettura, recente o di un passato più lontano. E per queste ultime vengono richiamati in servizio gli stessi tecnici che un tempo seguivano magari Lauda, Alboreto o Prost. La lunga sequenza di campionati vinti dalla Ferrari a partire dal 1999, ha naturalmente stimolato i clienti piloti, spinti anche dalla maggiore semplicità di guida delle vetture successive a quel periodo e 2002 soprattutto - perché il regolamento permetteva il controllo elettronico della trazione e il sistema antistallo per il motore. Inoltre la configurazione aerodinamica era meno sofisticata, altro aspetto che permette di prendere più facilmente confidenza con vetture che, nonostante un intervento sull elettronica per limitare a quota i giri del motore e il cambio con i rapporti fissi per evitare sostituzioni che non porterebbero vantaggi reali, raggiungono comunque i 330 km/h sul rettilineo di Monza. Tra i piloti gentleman non sono pochi quelli che non hanno mai corso con vetture normali ma decidono comunque di assaporare il brivido della Formula 1. Un approccio graduale, facilitato dal lavoro di personalizzazione pre-consegna, che comprende lo studio dell abitacolo secondo il fisico e la definizione di un assetto di base. Poi il debutto sulla pista di Fiorano, fino a quella confidenza che regalerà soddisfazioni impagabili

29 599XX PROGRAMME If real Grands Prix were on the agenda, drivers in the Ferrari F1 Clienti programme would have to go through pre-qualifying, so large are the numbers of enthusiasts who have realised their dream of acquiring and driving one of the single-seaters prepared by the Prancing Horse s Reparto Corse. And their enjoyment is enhanced by not having to deal with any organisational problems. For these special drivers, non-competitive events are organised which fit in to other meetings organised every year by Maranello: Ferrari Racing Days and the World Finals. Such events alternate with other test days dedicated to these special clients. All activities take place on famous circuits, equipped with all the latest safety requirements. This is a guarantee which is combined with the modern levels of protection insisted on through the current F1 technical regulations. And it s not just the owners of ex-schumacher cars, of which there are many, but owners of all the cars involved who can put themselves in Michael s shoes in terms of the running of their cars. All they have to do is turn up at the race track. All car maintenance, transport and even the race suits are provided by the Reparto F1 Clienti created in 2003 within the Ferrari Corse Clienti, based at the Fiorano track. The department looks after the cars during the events, but its core activity is the maintenance and restoration of Ferrari single-seaters from 1970 to the present day. Although it might be more accurate to say from the past to the day before yesterday, given that cars are only taken on after a two year moratorium after their final season of actual competition. Thanks to an automated archive that can supply drawings for every part of these single-seaters, the department can get their hands on any car, be it recent or from the distant past. Taking on this task, conscripted again if you will, are the same mechanics who once attended to Lauda, Alboreto or Prost. The long run of championship wins for Ferrari, dating back to 1999, has naturally given a boost to the driver owners, who have also been helped by the fact that these cars are particularly easy to drive, especially those from 2001 and 2002, as the rules allowed for electronic control of traction and they had an anti-stall system on the engine. Furthermore the aerodynamic configuration was less sophisticated, which means drivers can be more confident behind the wheel. Even though these cars have their revs electronically limited to 17,000 rpm, and a gearbox with set ratios to avoid changes that would bring no real advantage, they can still hit 330 km/h going down the main straight at Monza. Among the amateur racers in this field, a good number have never raced before, but have still decided to savour the taste of Formula 1. The process takes a gradual approach, with personalised modifications available, including adjusting the cockpit area to suit the size and physique of the driver, as well as using a baseline set-up. After that comes a track debut at Fiorano, where the confidence built up is truly invaluable

I selezionati protagonisti di questo ambizioso progetto, varato nel 2010 e della durata di due anni, partecipano ad un pacchetto di eventi organizzati da Ferrari su alcune tra le piste più prestigiose in Europa, Asia e Nord America, grazie all assistenza diretta di un gruppo di tecnici composto da ingegneri, elettronici e meccanici, oltre che di un team di piloti professionisti. Questi speciali istruttori mettono a disposizione tutta la loro esperienza fungendo da veri e propri consulenti per quanto riguarda l affinamento della tecnica di guida, la spiegazione delle traiettorie e la gestione del mezzo in generale. Il limitato numero di esemplari è personalizzabile nell estetica su specifica richiesta del cliente.nata come berlinetta sportiva non omologata e concepita per un uso esclusivo in circuito al di fuori di qualsiasi competizione ufficiale, questa nuova vettura rappresenta la sintesi della più alta innovazione tecnologica disponibile oggi, pur conservando caratteristiche di vivibilità a bordo derivate dal modello stradale la 599 GTB Fiorano - essenziale per i piloti non professionisti in caso di uso intensivo in circuito. Lo studio aerodinamico del corpo vettura è stato oggetto di numerose sessioni di test in galleria del vento, attraverso i quali si è ottenuto un valore di carico verticale di 280 kg a 200 km/h (630 kg a 300 km/h). Il fondo scocca anteriore è stato completamente carenato - una anteprima su una vettura a motore anteriore centrale - e gli sfoghi d aria per il raffreddamento dei liquidi motore sono stati spostati sul cofano. Per la prima volta è stato impiegato l Actiflow System che contribuisce ad incrementare il carico verticale e ridurre la resistenza nelle diverse condizioni di dinamica in pista. Un criterio innovativo riguarda l utilizzo dell elettronica: un sistema denominato High Performance Dynamic Concept è stato definito allo scopo di ottenere la massima reattività della vettura, in modo costante ed in condizioni di utilizzo estreme. L handling sportivo è incrementato grazie all adozione delle sospensioni a controllo magneteorologico di seconda generazione. La guida sportiva è facilitata dalla presenza di un ingegnere di macchina virtuale che consente di monitorare in tempo reale lo stato di efficienza e di utilizzo della vettura fornendo al pilota tutte le informazioni necessarie attraverso il quadro di bordo. La carrozzeria è stata rivista nei materiali, con largo uso di compositi e fibra di carbonio, e nelle tecnologie, sfruttando la conoscenza acquisita nell impiego dell alluminio, al fine di raggiungere il peso di 1430 kg (con liquidi, senza carburante e senza pilota a bordo) che spinti dai 730 CV del propulsore garantiscono il rapporto peso/potenza di 1,9 kg/cv. Lo sviluppo di materiali più performanti ha interessato anche l impianto frenante: il materiale delle pastiglie freno e in fibra di carbonio consente spazi d arresto ancor più ridotti ed una migliore efficienza complessiva. Il motore ha subito sostanziali interventi alla camera di combustione, alla linea di aspirazione e scarico che, congiuntamente alla riduzione degli attriti dei vari organi meccanici ed all aumento del regime massimo di rotazione elevato a 9000 giri/min, hanno portato la potenza massima a 730 CV. Per quanto riguarda la trasmissione viene utilizzata una nuova gestione del sistema di cambiata che riduce il tempo totale di passaggio marcia a 60 ms. 34 599XX programme The 599XX programme is one of the non-competitive activities organised by the Maranello Corse Clienti Department and is aimed at those who are looking to simply enjoy the pure pleasure of driving on a track. Those chosen to take part in this ambitious project, which gets underway in 2010 and runs for two years, will tackle a package of events organised by Ferrari on some of the most famous tracks in Europe, Asia and North America, with full technical support from a group of engineers, electronics specialists and mechanics, as well as a team of professional drivers. These specialist instructors can call on a wealth of experience to offer the very best advice in terms of fine tuning driving technique, explaining the right lines to take and general tips about driving the car. The limited run of cars can be personalised in terms of appearance, as requested by the owners. Conceived as a non-homologated sports car exclusively for track use, but not in any specific competition, this new car is a synthesis of the very latest technology available today, while maintaining a level of useability that derives from the road-going 599 GTB Fiorano, which is an important factor, as the car is aimed at amateur drivers to use under hard conditions on a race track. The aerodynamic shape of the car was the result of several sessions in the wind tunnel, which produced a vertical downforce figure of 280 kg at 200 km/h (630kg at 300 km/h.) The bottom of the front part of the chassis is completely faired in a first for a car with a front and centrally mounted engine and the air intakes for the engine coolant are positioned in the bonnet. Used for the first time is the l Actiflow System, which increases downforce and reduces drag in various dynamic conditions on track. Another innovative factor is the use of electronics in what is called the High Performance Dynamic Concept, aimed at maximising the way the car reacts, so that it performs consistently under extreme conditions. Sports handling has been enhanced by the adoption of second generation SCM suspension system, while handling is managed by a virtual on-board engineer that monitors in real time the levels of efficiency and use of the vehicle, sending data to the driver through the dashboard. Particular attention has been paid to the bodywork, featuring extensive use of composites and carbon-fibre, while know-how relating to the use of aluminium has contributed in bringing the weight down to 1430 kg, including fluids, but without fuel or driver. With 730 cv on hand, the power to weight ratio is 1.9kg/cv. The use of state of the art materials also extends to the braking system, with carbon fibre brake pads resulting in even shorter braking distance, thus increasing the overall efficiency of the package. The engine combustion chamber has undergone significant modification on both the intake and exhaust side, which along with reduction in the frictional forces of various mechanical components and an increase in maximum revs to 9000 rpm, has increased power output to 730cv. On the transmission front, a new gearshift management system has brought the gearchange time down to 60 ms. The figure that best sums up the capability of the 599XX is a lap time around Fiorano of 1m 16s, proving its worth to those enthusiastic owners who want to enjoy to the full the experience of a weekend on a race track

37 599XX PROGRAMME fxx programme È una delle massima espressioni dell automobilismo non agonistico: la Ferrari FXX non svetta solo per le incredibili prestazioni che può raggiungere grazie agli 860 Cv erogati dal suo V12 di 6262 cm3 ma per il programma di collaborazione tecnica che vede coinvolti i clienti collaudatori che hanno acquistato le 30 vetture messe in produzione - utilizzabili solo in pista - e che nel biennio 2006/2007 hanno partecipato a un particolare programma di ricerca e sviluppo. Tale programma è stato esteso al biennio 2008/2009 e prosegue il suo cammino nel 2010 grazie all applicazione di un kit specifico che ha tratto spunto dalle indicazioni fornite dagli stessi clienti collaudatori, tra cui Michael Schumacher che non si è voluto privare di questa straordinaria berlinetta. Così la potenza è stata appunto portata a 860 Cv (dagli 800 precedenti) a giri mentre il tempo di cambiata, ora pari a 60 ms., è stato abbassato di 20 ms. rispetto al valore precedente. È stato anche adottato un nuovo sistema di controllo elettronico della trazione, sviluppato con gli ingegneri della Gestione Sportiva ma anche con le indicazioni degli stessi proprietari delle vetture. Sono previste nove impostazioni, gestite da un manettino sul tunnel, una soluzione che permette di variare il comportamento della FXX in ogni curva. Per una guida simile a quella dei piloti di F1 che traggono il massimo dalla vettura, riducendo contemporaneamente il degrado delle gomme. Da rilevare che sulla pista di Fiorano il tempo della FXX evoluzione è passato da 1 18 a meno di Tra le altre novità del pacchetto, aumento del 25% dell efficacia della aerodinamica (nuove ali posteriori, nuovo nolder e nuovo estrattore posteriore), sviluppo della sospensione anteriore con nuovo set up per la vettura e maggiore efficacia dell impianto frenante Brembo con dischi in Composite Ceramic Material (CCM). Non è cambiato invece il programma che rende assolutamente unica la FXX: come in precedenza, il pacchetto evoluzione comprende ancora una serie di eventi annuali su piste prestigiose (in Europa, Nord America e Asia più la partecipazione alla festa Ferrari di fine stagione in concomitanza con le Finali Mondiali del Challenge), con l assistenza diretta di 15 tecnici di Maranello - tra ingegneri, elettronici e meccanici - e un taglio assolutamente professionale. Si inizia con il giro di installazione, seguito da due giri cronometrati e quindi attività libera secondo le preferenze del pilota. Il tutto però termina sempre con un debriefing molto approfondito perché il ruolo di questi particolari clienti-collaudatori è valutato con attenzione dai tecnici. I test infatti rappresentano un motivo di crescita per chi guida ma anche una fonte di apprendimento per chi deve realizzare i futuri modelli Ferrari di livello più elevato. Primo risultato, la 430 Scuderia che ha adottato alcune soluzioni derivate dai test con la FXX che si sono sviluppati per km nel 2006 e per km l anno successivo, con interventi soprattutto su aerodinamica, meccanica e elettronica. Sulla versione base erano 38 i canali di acquisizione dati utilizzabili; sulla FXX evoluzione ne sono stati aggiunti altri che prevedono anche l indicazione dell angolo di sterzo e la pressione della pompa freni. I piloti hanno dunque la radiografia esatta del loro stile di guida e sono facilitati nel trasmettere ai tecnici le loro impressioni. È un dialogo attento e professionale, decisamente coinvolgente. Naturalmente il cliente collaudatore è libero di poter utilizzare la propria FXX anche in sessioni private su qualsiasi pista. Nel caso lo desideri, può lasciare la propria vettura a Maranello, chiedendo alla stessa Ferrari di provvedere al trasporto in occasione degli eventi

38 599XX PROGRAMME fxx programme It is one of the highest expressions of non-competitive motoring: the Ferrari FXX does not stand out simply because of the incredible performance of its 860 horsepower delivered by the 6262 cc V12 engine, but also because of the programme of technical collaboration that exists for its owner-test drivers who have acquired the 30 car built solely for track use. Over the past couple of years, 2006/2007, they have taken part in a special research and development programme, continued over the two year period 2008/2009 and runs on 2010 thanks to the addition of a specific kit, which was produced as a result of feedback from these owner test drivers, including Michael Schumacher, who did not want to miss out on this amazing sports car. Thus, power has increased from 800 to 860 Cv at 9500 rpm, while the time needed to change gear has dropped by 20 milliseconds to 60. It also boasts a new electronic traction control system, developed with engineers from the Gestione Sportiva, based on suggestions from the owner group. Nine settings are available, controlled by a lever on the tunnel, this solution allowing the FXX s handling to be adjusted to suit every corner. This provides a driving experience similar to that of an F1 car where the drivers want to get the most out of the car while also reducing tyre degradation. The brainchild of Enzo Ferrari, situated right next to the Maranello factory, the Fiorano Circuit was built in It is used exclusively year-round by the Prancing Horse, the Fiorano Circuit is of a very high technical standard and an excellent, exciting training venue as it boasts features similar to those of certain leading European tracks. It also has its own steering pad for driving exercises in low grip situations.
