1 EDITORIAL Vamos camino del final de curso y presentamos por segundo año consecutivo la revista de nuestra escuela. Lo hacemos a modo de resumen de lo que nos ha sucedido durante los últimos 8 meses. Es nuestra particular mirada atrás. En las páginas que siguen nos vamos a reconocer en nuestros propios trabajos o en los que han hecho nuestros compañeros, a través de fotos, de cuentos o de referencias a momentos que hemos pasado juntos estudiando idiomas. Puesto que hay cosas que no aparecen, no está de más recordarlas. Como la lluvia que comenzó el día antes de vacaciones de navidad, cuando íbamos y veníamos al pabellón del colegio mientras celebrábamos la jornada festivo-cultural. Esa lluvia que ha abierto grietas en el edificio y nos ha ocasionado no pocas molestias. Esa lluvia nos traerá una primavera exuberante de la que tenemos un pequeño ejemplo en nuestro jardín. Recordamos también los cambios que ha habido en el equipo directivo y en el personal de secretaría, con los consiguientes bailes de horario en su apertura. Estos meses hemos ido actualizando las instalaciones de las aulas, dotándolas de innovaciones tecnológicas que nos sirven a todos para mejorar nuestro trabajo, y que se completaran antes de final de junio. Por fin hemos visto desaparecer los setos que impedían el acceso seguro a la Escuela, queda pendiente la respuesta del ayuntamiento para concedernos un paso de carruajes que haga definitivamente de la entrada del centro un lugar sin riesgos. Nos parece significativo recordar que este año la comunidad escolar se ha unido para reivindicar que se certifique el nivel C al finalizar los 6 años que se cursan en nuestros centros. Esta petición se ha hecho junto a todas las EEOOII de la Comunidad de Madrid y unas cuantas más del resto del territorio. Necesitamos una normativa que valore los verdaderos niveles que impartimos en las EEOOII y que nos ha negado la nueva legislación. En esta edición de la revista contábamos con la experiencia adquirida el curso pasado. Esperamos que se aprecien, así mismo, las ganas y la ilusión con que la hemos hecho, que es la misma de la primera vez. Queremos reflejar en ella, sobre todo, que éste, además de ser nuestro lugar de trabajo y estudio, es un sitio donde pasamos buenos momentos. Angela Santos Directora de la E.O.I. 5 ! aleman CONCURSO DE RELATOS Als ich letzten Freitag aus der Sprachschule kam, hörte ich zwei Hunde bellen und plötzlich merkte ich, dass ich sie ganz gut verstehen konnte... 1º premio Nivel Intermedio Die Gelegenheit Als ich letzten Freitag aus der Sprachschule kam, hörte ich zwei Hunde bellen und plötzlich merkte ich, dass ich sie ganz gut verstehen konnte. Das war ziemlich erstaunlich! Zuerst blieb ich stehen und verwirrt. Aber dann kam ein kleiner Vogel zu mir, als er überflog, sagte er: - Hören Sie mich! Hören Sie mich! Heute ist der Tag des Geburtstages. Alle Tiere müssen sich im Schloss treffen! Dann fingen die Hunde wieder an zu bellen. Der schwarze Hund sagte, dass er ein sehr schönes Geschenk für den Prinz hat, einen goldenen Ring! Der kleine Hund glaubte ihn nicht und begannen sie zu streiten. Ich finde ganz traurig, wenn die Leute diskutieren, deshalb versuchte ich dann, sie zu beruhigen. Die Hunde guckten mich plötzlich still an. Sie waren überrascht, weil sie mich gut verstanden hatten. Der kleine Hund näherte sich mir an. - Du Mensch, warum sprichst du die Sprache der Natur? - Das weiß ich nicht! Vielleicht könntet ihr es mir erklären! - Was sagst du Mensch? Wir sind aber nur Hunde. Obwohl wir dir den Uhu vorstellen könnten. Er ist der Weiseste. - Ein Uhu? Hier in Madrid? Das kann ich nicht glauben. - Wir können heute nicht gehen -, sagte der schwarze Hund. -Hast du den Geburtstag vergessen? - Stimmt, aber auf dem Geburtstag werden alle Tiere sein, oder? - Tja, aber die Menschen dürfen nicht kommen. Ich fragte sie, worüber sie sprachen. Und jetzt kam der unglaublichste Teil der Geschichte. Sie erzählten, dass in Peñalara die 5

6 Könige der Natur leben. Vielleicht denkt man, dass sie Feen sind. Oder, dass sie Löwen sollten sein und nicht in Madrid leben, sondern in Afrika. Das dachte ich auch. Aber die Könige der Natur sind eigentlich Frösche! Das fand ich recht komisch, und ich lachte laut. Der schwarze Hund guckte mich böse an, und sagte: sodass alles in weniger Zeit wie ein schlechter Traum war. Danach konnte ich nie mehr die Tiere verstehen. Manchmal treffe ich diese Hunde wieder, aber sie sehen mich nicht freundlich an. Ich fühle, dass ich eine einzige Gelegenheit nicht genutzt habe. Aber so sind wir, Narren. - Darüber dürftest du nicht lachen, Mensch. Warum denkst du, dass in vielen menschlichen Märchen ein Frosch sich in einen Prinz verwandelt? - Ach so! Ich habe immer gedacht, dass es so war, weil niemand einen Frosch küssen möchte. - Du hast aber keine Ahnung! Menschen sind alle Narren! Sofía Gracia Peña NI 2 Die Hunde ärgerten sich über mich und versuchten, mich abzubeißen. Das war genug für mich. Ich rannte nach Hause und blickte nicht zurück. Zum Glück habe ich keine Tiere zu Hause, 6

7 ! aleman 1º premio Nivel Avanzado Die Sprache der Empfindungen Als ich letzten Freitag aus der Sprachschule kam, hörte ich zwei Hunde bellen und plötzlich merkte ich, dass ich sie gut verstehen konnte. Am Anfang konnte ich es nicht glauben. Plötzlich merkte ich, dass es sich von keinem Traum handelte. Deshalb fühlte ich mich wirklich erschreckt. Allerdings empfand ich sofort ein neues Gefühl, das ganz unbekannt für mich war: die echte Macht, die Sprache der Hunde zu kennen. War es eine gute Nachricht für mich? Ich war fähig, eine Konversation der Hunde zu begreifen. Wie hatte ich derartige Macht erlangen? Fragte ich mich. Ich war sicher, dass ein sinvollen Grund dafür bestand. Darum hörte ich die Konversation der Müllers, damit ich die Herkunft dieser Macht, herausfinden könnte. Ja, sie hatten Vor- und Familiennamen, wie menschliche Wesen: Friederich Müller und seine Frau, oder, muss ich sagen, seine Hündin, Heidi Müller. Einen Moment überlegte ich, ob es emphelenswert wäre, meine Macht zu verstecken. Deswegen ließ ich nichts anmerken, als ich meine Deutschübungen zu machen versuchte. Heidi sagte ihm, dass sie eine Situation dieser Art nicht aushalten könnte. Friedrich antwortete auf ihre Bemerkung: "Meine liebe Heidi, du sollst dich nicht um unsere junge Hunde kümmern" Dann brach sie in Trännen aus. Anscheinend litt sie an einer schweren Krankheit und musste sich sofort operieren lassen. Leider waren sie vagabundierende Hunde und sie konnten sich eine Operation dieser Art nicht leisten, weil sie keinen Besitzer hatten. Es war schade, dass das Leben dieser Hündin von einem unbedeutenden Besitzer abhängen würde. Es war so ungerecht!!! Plötzlich hatte ich eine spannende Idee,deren baldige Durchführung, ihr Leben retten könnte. Ich erinnerte mich an einen Freund meines Vaters, Bernard, der Tierarzt von Beruf war. So beeilte ich mich, um rechzeit zum Veterinär zu k o m m e n. Glückicherweise hatte er noch nicht geschlossen. Bernard fragte mich, warum ich wusste, dass die Hündin krank war. Ich hatte Angst davor, 7

8 befreiten sie, um Heidi eine Niere zu implantieren. Aus diesem Grund fühlte sich Heidi verwundert: "Hast du gehört, Friedrich? Ich werde eine neue Niere haben" Dann antworte er darauf: "Dank dieses Mädchens und des Tierarzts wirst du noch bei uns bleiben" Nun konnte ich den Grund meiner Macht verstehen: Es war jemand nötig, um diese Familie zu retten. Trotz der Natur dieser Familie, die nicht menschlich war, hing das Leben von meinen Taten ab. Zurzeit kümmere ich mich um die Müllers. Obwohl ich sie nicht mehr verstehen kann, sehen sie glücklich aus und das ist das Ende der Geschichte. meine geheime Macht zu verraten. Ich erfand eine Geschichte bezüglich des vorherigen Besitzers: "...wegen der Wirschaftkrise konnte er es sich nicht leisten, einen Tierarzt zu bezahlen. Deshalb hatte er mich um einen Gefallen gebeten, mich um die Hunde zu kümmern und die Operation Heidis zu bezahl... "Es gibt keine Zeit zu verschwenden. Wir sollen uns beeilen!!!", schrie Bernard. Eva María del Pozo NA 2 Ich hatte nicht bemerkt, dass die Sprachschule geschlossen war. Allerdings war es kein Hindernis für uns. Einfach sprang ich über den Zaum und wir 8

10 Das Haus am Ende der Straße Am Ende der Straße gibt es ein altes und vergessenes Haus. Die Nachbarschaft glaubt daran, dass das Haus leer ist, und die Kinder, dass es einen Geist hat. Niemand weiß, dass Therese dort wohnt. Therese ist so alt und so vergessen wie ihr Haus. Sie wohnt allein und sie geht nie hinaus. Während der Woche macht sie nichts, bis auf Samstag. Die übrigen Wochentage schläft sie den ganzen Tag und wartet auf den Samstag. An diesem Tag kommen ihre Gäste: ihre Erinnerungen. Früh am Morgen steht sie auf, macht sauber und später, wenn alles fertig ist, nimmt sie ein Buch und setzt sich auf einen verdorbenen Sessel und wartet auf sie. Um fünf Uhr kommen die Erinnerungen an. Therese macht Tee und sie legt die Tassen, den Zucker, das Wasser mit dem Tee und die Milch auf den Tisch. Therese und ihre Gäste nehmen Platz: Therese setzt sich oben an den Tisch und die Gäste neben sie. Therese unterhält sich mit ihren Erinnerungen. Sie hört nicht zu sprechen auf, und sie lässt ihren Tee kalt werden, um den Besuch auszudehnen. Auch am Samstag spielen die Kinder auf der Straße, in der Nähe von Thereses Haus. Sie hören die Unterhaltung und schauen dem Haus aufmerksam zu. Von Zeit zu Zeit sehen sie einen Schatten hinter dem Fenster. Dann werfen einige Kinder un die anderen laufen eilig schreiend: "Wir haben den Geist gesehen! Wir haben ihn gesehen!" Später verschwinden die Gäste und Therese denkt: "Vielleicht lebe ich nicht, vielleicht bin ich ein Geist". Rafa Rodriguez 10

11 espanol! Viva la copla! Como viene siendo ya tradición en el Departamento de Español, el eje de nuestras actividades culturales es, sin duda, la Jornada Gastronómica, en la que cada alumno aporta un plato típico de su geografía aborigen. En la Revista de la Escuela del año anterior aparecieron unas fotos y un texto alusivo a dicho evento. Esta vez, sin embargo, hemos decidido cambiar de tercio y, sin abandonar tan instructivo acerbo global de carácter culinario, vamos a instaurar una nueva tradición: aprovecharnos de las alegrías -y, a veces, también penas- que nos puede proporcionar la canción española, o sea, la copla. En lo que llevamos de curso académico hemos asistido ya a varias sesiones de copla, en la que tanto los alumnos extranjeros como los amigos españoles que han acudido han disfrutado de lo lindo. Quizás no hayan entendido muchas de las palabras, pero ya sabemos que eso no es necesario para lograr una buena "comprensión oral". El intérprete de estas canciones españolas tan entrañables ha sido un queridísimo amigo mío, Manuel Rey, coplero irredento, conocedor profundo del "duende" de Madrid, ya sea en el ámbito musical, ya en el arquitectónico, y en el artístico en general; doctor en Historia del Arte, cantante de copla, autor y presentador de un programa de televisión llamado El baúl de la Piquer, en el que se hablaba de la historia de la copla, el cuplé y demás andanzas de la música española de una época ya algo "añeja", pero muy fructífera en amores y desamores. Él dice siempre -y yo, por supuesto, comparto su opinión- que prácticamente todos y todas los/las españoles/as llevamos una "folclórica" dentro de nosotros/as, y debemos (sin "de", o sea, con carácter obligatorio) dejar que se manifieste y salga del armario, del baúl (si es del arcón de la mencionada Piquer, pues muchísimo mejor) o de cualquier mueble apolillado que tengan Vds. arrinconado en el más olvidado ostracismo. Como explican éste y otros expertos, una copla es nada más y nada menos que una obra de teatro -que es también la vida- condensada, con su preámbulo, su nudo, su desenlace; no le falta de nada. Si bien es verdad que ya no hay autores de copla "como Dios manda", los maestros clásicos sí que nos han dejado un rico caudal de bellísimas historias que hacen poner la piel de gallina al más pintado. Por cierto, parece ser que 'gallina' en caló es cañí. Ay, madre! Estoy pensando que si Chiquito de la Calzada cantara nuestro famoso pasodoble España cañí, seguramente lo haría diciendo algo así como: "España cobaaarde". Y ya que estamos en una Escuela de Idiomas, hablemos un poquitín del caló o 11

12 romaní, lengua de los gitanos de la que están "trufadas" las letras de las coplas cual pavo de Navidad (o, si alguno prefiere la tradición anglosajona, cual "Thanksgiving Day-turkey"). Pues bien, estos vocablos se han ido introduciendo en el español estándar hasta constituir una gran parte del registro coloquial; algunos ejemplos son: chalao ('loco'), chamuyar ('hablar'), menda ('yo'), camelo ('engaño'), gachí ('mujer'), gachó ('hombre'), dabuten ('estupendo'), etc. Al igual que los juegos de rol que podemos utilizar didácticamente en las clases, con el fin de que nuestros alumnos practiquen la inmersión -que a veces, tristemente, llega a desembocar en el ahogamiento-, la copla nos permite, en palabras de Manuel Rey, vivir "vidas prestadas": que queremos interpretar el papel de borracho/a, pues nos ponemos a cantar La Parrala (a la que le gustaba "mazo" el vino, sin despreciar el aguardiente ni el marrasquino); que preferimos hacer de prostituta, pues cantamos Ojos verdes (hay versión masculina y femenina, pero ambas están "apoyás" en el quicio de una mancebía); que nos atrevemos a hacer una "fusión" de varios papeles y queremos experimentar qué se siente siendo prostituta a la vez que borracha, pues nos "decantamos" por Tatuaje ("arrastrá/arrastrao" de mostrador en mostrador, por todos los puertos, vaya tute!); y ya, puestos a exagerar, que lo que nos va es la zoofilia, pues podemos echar mano de Mi jaca (a la que su dueño/a quiere lo mismito -si no más- que al gitano/a que le está dando tormento por culpita de un querer). Todo este derroche de cultura sin par que destila nuestra canción española o copla justifica el que la demos a conocer a todo el mundo. Creo que para los extranjeros sería la puerta de entrada a una integración "fetén" (o sea, como es debido) en los entresijos de la cosmovisión hispánica (esto último parece como de colegio "de pago", pero había que decirlo). Pido perdón por haber utilizado muchas barras para señalar la forma masculina y femenina de ciertas palabras tratando de ser lo más política y genéricamente correcto. Con tanta barra y tanta "arroba" para incluirnos a todos y a todas, empiezo a estar un poco hasta "las miembras". Arturo Rodríguez López 12

13 espanol! Y ahora, para terminar, un pequeño pasatiempo sobre el conocimiento de la lengua romaní: En una columna tienes 15 palabras en caló. En otra columna tienes 20 palabras en español. Se trata de saber la equivalencia en castellano de las palabras gitanas. Teniendo en cuenta que dos de las palabras romaníes significan lo mismo (consiguientemente, hay seis distractores), escribe la letra correspondiente a cada número. Soluciones en la página

14 Y como colofón, la fiesta gastronómica de este último cuatrimestre : comidas deliciosas de muchísimos países y alumnos guapísimos y deseosos de integrarse en nuestra cultura. Buen provecho y hasta el curso que viene!!! 14

15 ! frances CONCURSO DE RELATOS Vendredi dernier, en sortant de l École, j ai entendu deux chiens qui aboyaient et soudainement je me suis aperçu que je comprenais ce qu ils disaient. 1º premio Nivel Avanzado FAITS DIVERS Vendredi dernier, en sortant de l École, j ai entendu deux chiens qui aboyaient et soudainement je me suis aperçu que je comprenais ce qu ils disaient. J'ai trouvé leur conversation très intéressante et je me suis arrêté pour l'écouter. Il me semblait qu'ils essayaient de trouver une solution aux problèmes de la vie quotidienne, d'une façon semblable à celle des humains. D'abord, ils ont discuté sur l'alimentation que leurs maîtres leur donnaient. Ils n'étaient pas du tout enthousiasmés des plats préparés achetés dans les grandes surfaces et ils évoquaient nostalgiquement le temps où ils pouvaient manger un morceau de viande qui avait été cuisinée dans le même pot et en même temps que le repas de la famille. Ensuite, ils se sont plaints du manque d'exercice. Ils habitaient tous les deux dans un immeuble avec ascenseur que leurs maîtres utilisaient toujours au lieu d'emprunter l'escalier. En outre ils étaient contraints de rester en laisse lors de leurs promenades dans la rue. Ils ont pris alors la décision de s'enfuir à la forêt du hameau où leurs maîtres partaient en vacances chaque été. Après, leur conversation est devenue fort triste et parmi leurs sanglots j'ai deviné qu'ils parlaient de leurs petits desquels ils avaient dû se séparer parce que leurs maîtres n'avaient pas permis qu'ils restent avec 15

16 eux. Ils ignoraient tout ce qu'ils auraient pu devenir et ne gardaient aucun espoir de les revoir. À ce moment-là je me suis rendu compte qu'une grande terreur s'était emparé d'eux. Ils ont commencé à courir d'un côté à l'autre comme s'ils voulaient se libérer de leurs laisses. Quand leurs maîtres ont réussi à les calmer j'ai appris que la cause de leur terreur était qu'ils ne voulaient point du tout se faire châtrer. Les humains venaient de commenter cela. Peu après, une autre dame est arrivée avec son chien qui s'est à son tour mêlé de leur conversation. C'était un chien qu'on voyait rarement dans le quartier car sa propriétaire habitait dans une villa à la campagne et elle ne venait qu'une fois par mois rendre visite à ses parents. Alors la conversation des chiens est devenue plus gaie. Ma famille m'a attentivement écouté mais quand j'ai fini l'histoire j'ai découvert une ombre d'inquiétude dans leur regard. - Est-ce que vous ne me croyez pas? Leur ai-je demandé. Effectivement, ils ne me croyaient pas et comme j'insistais sur le fait ils ont appelé le service médical d'urgence et me voici dans un hôpital pour des malades mentaux en train de lire cette même histoire sous la rubrique de faits divers d'un journal. To my surprise, I realised I could clearly understand what they were saying... 1º premio Nivel Básico SWEET DREAMS Last Friday, as I was leaving the EOI, I heard two dogs barking. To my surprise, I realised I could clearly understand what they were saying I went to the underground and I thought that after two hours in my English class I looked crazy. I came back to my house and said, Hello, Iike every day, to my orange fish, Timmy and Jack. I sat down in the sofa and started reading a book. Suddenly, I heard a little voice shouting: I am hungry and the other one shouted: Me too. First I thought that it was my imagination and continued reading, but the voice said again: Marta, we know that you hear us, we are hungry. Then I discovered that my fish were speaking to me and, as if it was normal, I got up and fed them. Thank you - They said. When my boyfriend came to my house I told him that I could clearly understand what the animals were saying. He said to me: You need sleep and I went to bed. The next day while I was going to work, six birds said to me: Good day!, one cat asked me: What time is it? And three dogs asked me: Where is the park? I sat down on a bench and I thought that I was lucky because I was a vet and with my special power I could ask all the animals and they could answer back telling me what hurts. I'll be the best vet in the world. Five months later I was a famous vet and I had travelled around the world helping sick animals but I never told anybody my secret because they say that I was crazy. I was very happy Suddenly. Ring, ring Monday. 12th of May. Seven o'clock. Five degrees I get up and ask my fish: Good day, are you hungry? But they only look at me with their big eyes. 20 2º premio Nivel Básico Christmas Flu Last Friday, as I was leaving the EOI, I heard two dogs barking. To my surprise, I realised I could clearly understand what they were saying. They were speaking about the A flu. They were absolutely worried about it because they had heard that the animals could catch it. When I heard this I stopped and I paid attention to the conversation, and I listened: Dog1: Today is a warm day and this morning our Dalmatian neighbour kept warm, and coughed a lot. Dog2: What are you thinking? Dog1: The same as you. I asked him if he had fever, and he answered 'sometimes'. Dog2: It's a bad thing. Dog1: Next Christmas we're going to have some problems. Dog2: What kind of problems? Dog1: With the reindeers. They don't want to go out to give the presents.rudolph, Donner and Blitzen think that they can catch the flu, because they must visit every house. Dog2: I disagree with them. I stopped to listen and continued walking. On the way home I thought about this conversation and I worried too. If the reindeers don't go out and Santa neither, nobody will have any presents at Christmas! The children can think that they are bad boys. It was a big, big problem. It was the biggest problem of the year. In the afternoon while I had dinner I was watching the news on TV and the most important news said: This year the reindeers don't want to work. We ask everybody to help us to find a solution. The next days all the news on television spoke about this subject: Santa Claus, in the North Pole, doesn't want to speak. Befana, in Italy, said she is working hard to find a solution. The Three Wise Men said, the reindeers are very lazy, just the opposite to camels which work hard. 20

21 ! Ingles Each time Christmas was closer and closer, and the problem continued. Finally the Christmas Eve, Befana found a good solution for everybody, and it was: Each reindeer must wear a bell, and they must ring a bell when they go into each house.when the people hear the bell they must hide. In this way, the reindeers don't see the people and won't catch the flu. If the people don't hide when the reindeers ring their bells then they won't give any presents in this house. The solution made everyone feel well and the Three Wise Men wanted their camels to wear a bell too! To my surprise, I realized I could clearly understand what they were saying. They were arguing about a book they had or saying something about a spell. I couldn t belive my ears! Actually they weren t barking, they were speaking like humans! So I decided to listen attentively while I was waiting for my boyfriend, who surely was just around the corner. It s no fair! The director of studies has just told us that dogs are not allowed to study at the public language school, shouted the bulldog. My greatest dream is to become a good Chinese speaker, said the chow chow. Chinese? And why do you want to learn chinese, Yackie?, asked the bulldog. Two months ago, I set up an animal protection society. I want to establish it in Beijing but, before this, I need to learn some Chinese. I can t bear the thought of Dog with orange sauce as the house special in a Chinese restaurant. Can you?, asked Yackie Neither can I. That s awful! I prefer French anyway, said Owen. Ah, I see. 27 ! Ingles THE VILLAGE (2004) Every year a lot of films are made in the Hollywood film industry. Some of them are simply overestimated while others are unjustly underestimated. This story, The village, could be used as an example of how an original movie can be forgotten because of a lot of bad reviews. But believe me, I am not the only person who loves it. Nominated in 2004 for the best original soundtrack Oscar, it was directed and written by the Sixth sense director M. Night Shyamalan. The village tells the story of an isolated village whose dwellers believe there is a scary being in the forest who wants to hurt them. That s why the inhabitants must live under one rule: nobody will cross the borders. Otherwise, the worst ending will come to them. Set in the North American state of Delaware, it is played by a fabulous cast. Starring Bryce Dallas Howard, a newcomer with a promising future; two times Oscar nominated Joaquin Phoenix (Walk the Line, Gladiator), whose face personifies humility and Adrien Brody, who proves why he is at the peak of his career. The plot shows, as far as the acting goes, there is something poetic and even magical around all of these scenes. What is most memorable about The Village is its moving music, which leads the cinemagoers to a striking 19th century aesthetic that will probably remind them of an Amish atmosphere. However, its main strength is its surprising and never predictable ending which gives sense to the whole movie and the role of the obedient blind girl, played by Bryce, who will break the rules in the name of love. The film appeals to people who believe that the cinema with real meaning is not over.
