The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a stunning creation and it excels on any number of levels. The vineyards are now at their full potential and the winemaking team has amassed enough experience under its belt to show greater confidence in terms of its stylistic philosophy. I love the fullness and the generosity of the bouquet, and I relished in tasting those delicious layers of dark berry, spice, dried herb and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is equally satisfying with opulent richness and impressive flavor persistence. Castello Romitorio has set a new benchmark. Castello Romitorio is one of the few estates that has come out far ahead of the hot 2011 vintage. With vineyards hidden at the back of the stunning Romitorio castle, the fruit has benefit from a slightly cooler microclimate with steep diurnal temperature shifts and higher altitudes. Anticipated maturity: BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO FILO DI SETA 2010 SCORE: 95 Source: erobertparker.com #217 Feb 2015 Reviewer: Monica Larner Depicting Capri s Grotta Azzurra on the label, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Filo di Seta is an oak-driven expression with elaborate tones of cinnamon, vanilla and roasted coffee bean that wrap thickly around fruity tones of blackberry and blackcurrant. The wine is soft and yielding with a rich embroidery of soft tannins and pulpy fruit extraction. There is that characteristic touch of bright acidity you get with Sangiovese. This pretty Brunello delivers all the qualities needed for medium and long-term drinking. It does need another two or three years of bottle aging however to fully flesh out. This beautiful Brunello reflects the exuberant personality of its artist creator, Sandro Chia, and tastes like it has absorbed all of the radiant sunshine of the vintage. What stands out here is the softness, intensity and the purity of the red fruit aromas. Background notes of spice, leather, dried herb and crushed mineral add complexity. The mouthfeel is robust and generous. Dark plums, cherries, mocha, licorice, cloves and sweet French oak notes blossom in the glass. Rich, voluptuous and beautifully balanced, the 2007 impresses for its layered personality, volume and depth. In 2007, the Riserva is all about harmony. In many ways, this wine captures the real issue with Brunello, as it represents what Brunello should be rather than what a special-label Brunello should be. Ripe dark cherries, tar, licorice, violets, minerals and smoke emerge from the glass as this big, strapping Brunello reveals its pedigree. This shows gorgeous inner perfume and more than enough density in the fruit to match the imposing tannins. It should develop into a splendid wine with a few more years of bottle age. JS BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2004 SCORE: 96 Italy - Tuscany Issue: Jun 15, 2010 Offers a beautiful density of blueberry and blackberry fruit on the nose and palate. Impressive for its fruit structure and ripe tannins. Long and intense, with loads of new wood, but seems to hold together wonderfully. Best after cases made. JS BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2006 Italy - Tuscany Issue: July 31, 2012 A lush style, boasting cherry, plum, tobacco and spice aromas and flavors. It s all backed by searing acidity and assertive, if refined, tannins. Starts out in a more modern style, finishing with grip and elegance. BS BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2004 Italy - Tuscany Issue: Web Only Blackberry and dried flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft and silky tannins and a long finish. Very approachable now, with bright fruit and fresh acidity. Long and beautiful. Drink now through ,500 cases made. JS BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2005 Italy - Tuscany Issue: Jun 15, 2010 Strawberry pie on the nose and palate, with hints of cream. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and plenty of fruit. Needs bottle age to soften. Powerful. Impressive for the vintage. Best after ,700 cases made. JS IGT ROSSO IL TORO 2008 Italy -Tuscany Issue: October 15, 2012 Though dark and inky, this red also sports more-refined floral and berry aromas and flavors, all backed by a firm structure, as vivid acidity keeps it focused through the long finish. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2014 through BS

It s full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a cool, sleek texture and style. It builds on the palate. So much here. Mind-bending. Better in 2018 but already exquiste. BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2010 SCORE: 97/100 October 1 st, 2015 So much black cherry, stem and dried mushroom aromas. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a beautiful cherry center palate. Hints of chocolate, mahogany and cedar. Salted meat and ripe fruit, too. Very long and powerful. Wow. Great finish. Needs time to soften a little but so excellent. Better in BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO XXV 2006 /100 January 15 th, 2011 A big and chewy 2006 Brunello with blackberries, blueberries and minerals on the nose and palate. Full and tannic, but lots of fruit underneath. Needs time to mellow. Very tannic. Made for aging. Best after BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2010 /100 December 1 st, 2014 So much Tuscan dust on the nose. You can smell the soil, not to mention the dark fruits and flowers. Full body with firm, silky tannins and a long, intense finish. Tight and structured. Try it in BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2006 /100 February 2 nd, 2012 A wine that makes you happy, with strawberry, plums and citrus under tones. Full and velvety, with lovely ripe tannins and lively acidity. Better in BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO RISERVA 2007 /100 February 11 th, 2013 Gorgeous aromas of plums and citrus fruit with hints of peaches. Full body, with wonderfully integrated tannins and a subtly refined finish. So beautiful to drink now. BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO FILO DI SETA 2011 /100 October 29 th, 2015 A 2011 with clarity and beauty. Plenty of dried berry, mineral and flower-leaf aromas and flavors. What impresses is the polished tannins and length. Extremely fine for the vintage. Drink in BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2005 /100 December 8 th, 2010 I like the strawberry and raspberry jam on the nose that follows through to a full body, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. It shows lots of fruit and freshness at the same time for the vintage. Drink it after 2012, but it s hard not to now. BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2006 /100 January 15 th, 2011 A big and chewy 2006 Brunello with blackberries, blueberries and minerals on the nose and palate. Full and tannic, but lots of fruit underneath. Needs time to mellow. Very tannic. Made for aging. Best after BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2009 /100 February 8 th, 2014 A balanced, elegant 2009 Brunello with dried fruits, hints of chocolate and a citrusy undertone. Full body, very well-integrated tannins and acidity. Drink or hold. BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2011 /100 October 29 th, 2015 Brunello with mushroom, earth and plum aromas and flavors. Full body with firm but silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now. ROMITO DEL ROMITORIO 2007 /100 August 29 th, 2012 Dried fruits with plums and cherries. Full body, with round tannins and a long fruity finish. So much dark fruits and minerals here. 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Canaiolo. Better in 2013.

8 BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2006 RISERVA SCORE: 95 Plush, modern, approachable and opulent, with aromas of spice, ripe fruit, chocolate fudge and red cherry. This is a very round and supple wine with a soft, generous mouthfeel backed by firm structure and bright acidity. Vinifera Imports. M.L. (5/1/2012) BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2004 RISERVA Castello Romitorio s beautiful Riserva Brunello delivers ripe fruit notes with inky consistency and elegant mineral tones framed around a core of solid red fruit. This Riserva opens with opulent, dark concentration and bright aromas of dark cherry, leather, tobacco and spice. There s a dusty mineral shading at the back and with a long-lasting finish. M.L. Managed by an artist-winemaker father and son team, the estate brings us a beautifully compact and elegant wine that is brimming with fresh fruit tones of cherry and blackberry. This is a concentrated and rich Brunello with a bold, slightly sweet-smelling bouquet. The mouthfeel is compact, tight and polished but there is excellent persistency too. M.L. The elegant palate delivers layers of wild cherry, crushed raspberry, baking spice, coffee and a hint of licorice. It s well balanced with youthfully austere tannins and bright acidity. Succulent dark cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and licorice all flesh out in the glass. This is another 2011 Brunello that has more than enough depth and overall intensity to drink well for at least a handful of years. 10 BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO BICCHIERI - EDIZIONE 2011 Ottimo il Brunello 05 che si aggiudica i Tre Bicchieri. Naso ampio, ricco e intenso, con le classiche note di marasca che si sposano a quelle floreali, cenni balsamici e di tabacco. In bocca è elegante, apparentemente sottile, e conquista proprio per questo. I tannini sono fini e risolti, l acidita sostiene il vino senza eccessi, per una progressione definita, dal finale ampio e persistente, in ottima corrispondenza olfattiva. BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO BICCHIERI - EDIZIONE 2016 Le scelte di cantina posizionerebbero i suoi Brunello tra i modernisti ma la prova del bicchiere racconta una verità assai meno schematica. È sufficiente del resto confrontarsi con la sorprendente versione 2010: radici, erbette, tocchi ematici, il rovere appare ben integrato in un palato armonico, nervoso e saporito, puntellato da tannini di razza. Un Brunello contemporaneo nel senso migliore del termine, che vale Tre Bicchieri MORELLINO DI SCANSANO GHIACCIO FORTE GRAPPOLI - EDIZIONE 2012 I corpi aziendali in verità sono due; a quello montalcinese si è andato aggiungendo quello maremmano, che può contare su alcune delle migliori posizioni nella storica area del Morellino, e che infatti da diversi anni sforna vini del massimo interesse, primo tra tutti lo splendido 2009 dal cru Ghiaccio forte, vino che può ambire al titolo di miglior Morellino di Scansano da noi mai assaggiato, e che per quest anno mette in riga dietro di sé vini in teoria ben più ambiziosi. Rubino luminoso e naso di rara complessità per la tipologia: sa di iris, rosa, rabarbaro, felce e piccole bacche croccanti; il flusso è tenue ma continuo. All assaggio è determinato nella stretta acidotannica, ma ha classe e carisma; il finale riluce di mineralità e il bicchiere vuoto sembra aver ospitato dell acqua di rose. Un testo profondo scritto con leggiadria; viene da vigne giovani sulla via Aquilaia, una delle due o tre zone dell eccellenza nell ambito della Docg, a leggere il quadro aromarico, il Syrah sembra pleonastico. Dieci mesi in botte grande. Fase gustativa importante con un attacco deciso ed una bella progressione potente compatta ma ben articolata grazie al tannino ed alla buona salinità.
