Gli zombie sono fra noi. Nel Far West digitale, il rischio che i cattivi la facciano franca è altissimo. Con la scusa di mettere alla prova le difese di internet per testarne la sicurezza, approfittano di programmi informatici che si installano su milioni di personal computers all insaputa dei poveri utenti per unirli così in una sofisticata armata di zombie che sfruttano la Rete per commettere crimini. Sono i temibili botnet ed è colpa loro se siamo invasi dallo spam. Ormai è da un po che gli addetti alla sicurezza dei computer sono alle prese con questa patata bollente: faticano a sconfiggere i nemici-botnet perché automatizzano e amplificano gli effetti del virus e di altri malware. Qual è la novità? Semplice. Le dimensioni del problema che si allargano all infinito: questi programmi stanno diventando sempre più precisi nello scannerizzare i computer a caccia di informazioni per prosciugare i conti bancari online, per esempio. Il crimine perfetto: basso costo, alto rendimento. Secondo una recente inchiesta condotta dal New York Times la guerra per rendere internet un posto sicuro sarebbe persa in partenza. Sarebbe ormai imminente una nuova economia mondiale del cybercrimine legata alla diffusione delle ultimissime tecnologie in una realtà ormai superinformatizzata e ultra-tecnologica. Una new generation di spietati criminali informatici sarebbero addestrati dal crimine organizzato servendosi di tattiche che ricordano quelle usate durante la guerra fredda. I web criminals sono diventati famosi all interno della comunità di hackers e dei forum specializzati che, evidenziando problemi di sicurezza, hanno reso pubbliche le mega truffe cibernetiche. Da quando c è internet ci sono anche i virus. Problema minore, certo, nel 1988: allora solo 60 mila computer erano collegati online. Oggi l infezione globale è difficilmente misurabile, ma secondo gli esperti ben l 11% degli oltre 650 milioni di computer collegati ad internet sono infetti. Insomma, un epidemia con 70 milioni di zombie. I cattivi scrivono codici maligni da dovunque e li distribuiscono via , sui file scaricabili dal web o su software piratati. Sicurezza? Privacy? Lasciate ogni speranza, o voi ch entrate in internet! (20% of total)
